  2. Tim Harrington just said on Trade Week Radio that even with the Mitch Clark deal we are still only be paying 92.5% of our salary cap
  3. I posted this comment in another thread and was over looked. Seems like this would be a more appropriate place to post. SOS on trade week radio said GWS will not be trading any of their first round picks, that being the case I am wondering what strategy they will take in the national draft. Having 11 picks in the first 15, I hope their first 4-5 picks will be best available then will move towards needs. As they already have Scully, Ward and Palmer in the midfield what are the chances a highly rated midfielder slipping to Melbourne at pick 12. Need to also considerer who Brisbane and Port will be targeting with picks 6 & 8. Phantom Drafts have Port snatching Hoskin-Elliot and Brisdane Kavanagh. This leaves 6 highly rated midfielders available, assuming that GWS snatch up Coniglio, Wingard and Tyson. I am hoping that one of Adams, Kavanagh, Sumner or Greene slip to us. Below are the predicted top 15 by position Forward - Patton, Paine Midfield - Coniglio, Tyson, Wingard, Hoskin-Elliot, Adams, Kavanagh, Sumner, Greene Ruck - Longer, Bolger Defence - Buntine, Ellis I asked Knightmare on BigFooty and this was his response. "GWS will look to add the KPPs + rucks they like. So Patton, Longer. Then maybe a Bolger or Paine could also be among those 1st rounders. But probably won't just go KPPs for the sake of going KPPs, because in the 1st round probably many of the mids will be among the better of the players. The likes of Wingard and Coniglio can pretty easily swing forward onto a forward flank. Then if a Devon Smith is drafted he can pretty easily be thrown into a forward pocket. So I don't think GWS will necessarily be worried about drafting too many quality mids, even though they already have plenty. Kavanagh has been one who has talked about as a possible slider, good one to target if he does slide. Can also see Greene being available at 12, but with Jack Viney coming along next year who is a similar but slightly better player coming next year maybe you look at someone else." http://www.bigfooty....13#post22600013

  5. From Trade Week Radio - Hutchy belives that Melbourne are in the hunt for Mitch Clark if the Freo deal falls.
  6. Rumor from BigFooty "Melbourne thinking about using all first round picks (including compo) to make a play for Jaeger and Dangerfield. They feel that Craig could help get the deal done." http://www.bigfooty.com/forum/showthread.php?t=874854&page=65 Most likely bullcrap, interesting either way with Damian Barrett mentioning salary cap room.
  7. Wow , super impressed by O'meara, he is going to be a star.
  8. The gulf is that Collingwood have lost only 2 games since we last encountered them last year this includes winning the 2010 premiership.
  9. Personally I hate it as well. But its a MFC forum, we should all be able to talk about anything related to the Melbourne Football Club. Tom Scullys contract included. But in saying this we dont need 20 threads, one should suffice and anything related to Tom Scullys contract talks should be put in there. Good luck mods. Thats my two cents.
  10. and Dangerfield 23 disposals and 6 goals.
  11. If we dont change this stupid ineffective kick out strategy soon, I am going to go mental.
  12. Watts starting well. where are our leaders Green, Maloney, Davey, Sylvia have had no effect. So frustrating to watch. we are so far away from being a good side.
  13. The umpiring is disgraceful, Melbourne are playing horrible.
  14. Howe youtube clip, supposedly he sent this to the MFC during the year.
  15. I like the idea of him, but would be a risk. Height isn't everything, if he gets in the right positions and is a strong mark id be happy. Fev isn't the tallest but his ability to get to the ball and use his body allows him to dominate. People crying for a ff/ruck to release Jamar will have to look at mature age players who have the body strength to play those positions, because any 18yr old drafted this year wont make an impact for a couple of years. But if we wait, we have Fitzpatrick in the wings who is supposed to play that exact position forward/ruck, its just going to take time.
  16. Im 23, my best mate and fellow Melbourne supporter just joined the army and now I have no one to go along with also.
  17. I think Darling will slide and wont be worth the pick at 12. I think we will go best available. It will be interesting to see who GC pick up since they have 7 picks before us. Will they just go best available? or will they draft for needs? Lynch looks like the tall who could get through to us, if not I see us taking any of the midfielders that slip through. Another question is, will Matt Burgan do a phantom draft for us Dees this year? Would be interesting to see who he thinks we will pick up.
  18. Its all becoming real now, GC will be pretty decent once they get games into their young talented list. Starting to get a bit worried about our premiership window.
  19. Elimination Final, 1988 Melbourne vs West Coast Just flicking through channels while I watch the Arsenal vs Sunderland game and came across this footy flashback on 7two. Pretty entertaining game, pretty scrappy first half followed up by a fantastic 3rd quarter. Having been born in 1987 I never really had the chance to see some of the players my dad always talked about. Some nice moustaches back then. Final Scores Melbourne 1.1 2.3 8.5 11.7.73 West Coast 2.4 5.7 5.9 10.11.71 Goalkickers: Ricky Jackson 2, Andy Lovell 2, Sean Wight 2, Greg Healy 1, Alan Johnson 1, Garry Lyon 1, Earl Spalding 1, David Williams 1
  20. With the Silvia tackle the ball was knocked free when tackled, under the laws of the game from the AFL website. 15.2.4 Application — Specific Instances where Play shall Continue For the avoidance of doubt, the field Umpire shall allow play to continue when: (a) a Player is bumped and the football falls from the Player’s hands; (B) a Player’s arm is knocked which causes the Player to lose possession of the football; Umpires are human and therefore errors will always happen, due to each umpires interpretation of the law. Its just bloody annoying! somedays they will go our way, other times they wont.
