  1. The reason being that Hooper and Mills are academy picks and will be taken by GWS and Sydney with their first picks.
  2. Wasted opportunity to gain some confidence and us suckers keep thinking that we are going to turn it around.
  3. The amount of times we bomb it into our forward line which results in a uncontested Essendon mark is ridiculous
  4. Consistently disappointing. Hate how this club ruins my weekends.
  5. Couldn't see any mention of him but Kieran Lovell, relative of Andy starred on the weekend for Tasmania racking up 42 disposals.Described as a nuggety inside midfielder who has been likened to Fremantle's Lachie Neale, was Tassie's best. Some footage can be found on the AFL website Eyecatchers where they go on to say that he is a smart footballer, accumulative taking 10 marks, 4 clearances and 19 handball receives. http://www.afl.com.au/video/2015-06-23/u18s-academy-guns-shine
  6. Carlton were horrible tonight, reminded me of the Dees at their worst. Playing on from the backline with no one to kick to, players ahead of the ball not moving, handballing to players under pressure. It's good not to be the laughing stock of the AFL anymore.
  7. AFL website Draft Machine then select McCartin. I'm in the same boat as Sweet Dee.
  8. Little write up on Mccartin from a couple days ago lists him at 194cm. http://madmondayshow.com/2014/10/26/patrick-mccartin-player-profile/ and Brayshaw for those that are interested http://madmondayshow.com/2014/08/11/angus-brayshaw-player-profile/
  9. Completely agree, Jesse Hogan was listed at 193 and 91kgs (now 195cm and 95kg as per MFC site) in his draft year. 2. Melbourne - Jesse Hogan (WA – KPF) Height: 193cm, Weight: 91kg, DOB: 12/02/1995 Recruited from: Claremont Style: Jonathan Brown Player comparison: Range: 1-5 Profile: Strong contested marking forward and is a real presence and target you can kick to. Also has excellent ability to take a 1v1 mark and this seems a real feature of his game. Reads it well in the air and off the players boot. Has the ability to crash packs and bring it to ground and seems to enjoy the physical side of the game. Physically developed for his age and already a very high level key forward. By foot is a good field kick and can find a leading target. Will need to work on set shot goal kicking routine – just doesn’t look as fluid as you’d ideally like to see and as a result his set shot goal kicking seems to suffer. Why:
  10. I would have prefered to have used a later pick for Frost but happy we have landed another key defender. I don't know much about him apart from his highlights vid and stats from footywire. Interesting to see that he was ranked 4th (Rising Stars) in total rebound 50's behind highly touted young defenders Langdon, Kolodjashnij and Mcdonald.
  11. Adelaide FC twitter as seen from AFL website Sorry but we can't give much (any) info about possible trades, interest levels etc. When we know something concrete, we'll let you know Adelaide holding their cards close. I can't help but dream of landing a player like Danger.
  12. Where does all the hate come from? He has played 13 games, give the kid a go. Jeez a bunch of you have become bitter and want instant superstars. He has speed (which we desperately need) and can kick a goal, once he builds up his endurance I can see him playing more time through the midfield. Obviously the coaches think he has potential as he played the last 10 games of the year.
  13. Is this a sign that Sloane is the AFC player we are really targeting?
  14. Said on trade radio by Brisbane recruiter said a couple of clubs lost interest including Melbourne.
  15. Again from Facebook, Damien Barrett has reported that Alex Fasolo from the collingwobbles has asked to be traded out. Don't mind him, capable of racking up possessions and kicking goals. WA boy and unsure of his current worth.
  16. 19.2 Special Assistance (a) At the conclusion of the Home and Away Matches in each Football Year, the Commission may determine in its absolute discretion that a Club is entitled to one or more priority selections at the next occurring National Draft Selection Meeting. Such right to one or more priority draft selections shall be exercisable during the Draft as directed by the Commission (b) The Commission will exercise its discretion under this Rule 19 only in exceptional circumstances taking into account a recommendation from the AFL Executive, the recent on field performance of a Club and any other matter the Commission in its absolute discretion regards relevant. Oh... I see what he's done there we're asking for a priority SELECTION.
  17. Tell me about it, believe it was a MFC fan page. https://www.facebook.com/groups/2207848796/
  18. The emergence of Tyson was one of very few highlights of 2014. Hopefully Roo's can pull off another masterstroke and land another talented young gun to help this football club become competitive again.
  19. Rumor from facebook (so you know it's legit) Melbs pick 2 and 3rd rounder for GWS Cameron and Frost.
  20. McDonald wasn't as bad as people are making out. He has a good burst of speed and is still a promising defender. As for Watts, did some good things tonight there were two instances where he chased and brought down two doggies as they were about to kick for goal. He also used his body well to take a good contested mark I think in tHe 3rd quarter. Dom Tyson is looking like the star player the Dees have been forever searching for, really impressed. Dissapointing game, goal for goal most of the game. I thought we were the better side but just couldn't break away from them.
  21. Another write up from Footy Tragic for those that are interested. CHRISTIAN SALEM Height: 185cm, Weight: 78kg, DOB: 15/7/1995 Recruited from: Sandringham Dragons Im still a bit unsure on Salem because hes put two very good seasons of TAC Cup footy together but at the same time hes struggled at the National Championships in consecutive seasons. Im unable to get a read on what his true form is and what position hell play in the AFL. At the same time hes really done nothing wrong and he has the skill-set and versatility to become a pretty good player. Salem can play a variety of positions from both flanks, to the midfield and really can play inside and out. He has never been a massive ball-winner, but he has been consistent in the TAC Cup. Over the last two seasons hes played 15 games for the Dragons, and has only gone under 20 disposals three times. Hes also never gone over 26 disposals. A fair portion of his disposals are contested and he does operate at a decent efficiency rate at 67%. Hes struggled more in the Champs in terms of getting the ball. He did a decent run-with role on James Aish against South Australia, but it wasnt really a hard tag. He averaged 15 disposals and a goal a game at 71% efficiency at the Champs. Salem is a very high character guy and most reports about his attitude are glowing. He comes from a Lebanese background and he seems like a really grounded kid, albeit a bit quiet. I think Salem will be a midfielder in the AFL that can go forward and is good for a goal a game. His inside work is really good and he does have a pretty strong body that can make an impact in there. I think hes been pigeon-holed a little bit as just a flanker and outside midfielder but I disagree with that. A large portion of his disposals are contested and he averages five tackles a game in the TAC Cup. His defensive work does stand out compared to other prospects in this draft and hes always looking to put pressure on and make an impact when he doesnt have the footy. Hes one of few young players that are always trying to lay a shepherd or do something to help out his teammates. On the outside he does have the weapon of speed and a very good left foot. His kicking action is very smooth but I still feel like he can over and under kick them. I think he just needs to weight his kicking sometimes a little better to players on the lead. Around goals hes very classy and tends to make the most of any chance he gets whether it is on the run or from a set shot.Salem gets a big mark up because of his versatility. He reads the play quite well and can float back into defence and take intercept marks. His ability one on one is also very good, and he very rarely loses a contest. This includes marking situations; he is quite good at judging the drop of the ball and he can take contested marks in a one-on-one situation. His contested marking ability is very impressive for his size. Athletically Salem put the critics to bed with his endurance testing. It had been suggested that he didnt have the tank to play full-time in the midfield but he ran a 14.5 beep, finished in the top 25% in repeat sprints and finished in the top 23% in the 3km time-trial. He also confirmed his speed by running a 2.98 in the 20 metre sprint. Salems been a mark of consistency, but he hasnt really blown anyone away at the same time. I do believe he has the tools to become a player in the David Zaharakis mould. The struggle to step up at the Champs worries me a little bit, but his TAC form dispels most concerns. Hes a pretty safe pick to make it regardless, its just a matter of how good he can become.
  22. Not sure if the SC Paige phantom has been linked on here yet, but Aish seems to be the clear No 2 pick by most in the know. If we keep pick 2 I'd expect we will be calling his name. Also I didn't know that Aish and Toumpas were best mates. Pick 2 – MELBOURNE – James Aish Club: Norwood D.O.B.: 8.11.95 Height: 184cm Weight: 75kg After debuting as a 16 year old for Norwood’s senior side in the SANFL, James Aish is one of, if not the most classiest ball user in this year’s draft crop. Although nimble, Aish comes from strong football bloodlines in South Australia, ans is the type of player who could be the answer to Melbourne’s midfield woes. There isn’t enough positive things to say about Aish, elite on both sides of his body, elite mark, elite hands, brilliant running game, composure in traffic, a play maker – I could go on forever. Unlike Dom Sheed, Aish has terrific pace and breakaway speed – which is why he is rated so highly. AFL ready for round 1 next year, and also the best friend of Jimmy Toumpas. http://www.scpaige.com.au/2013-phantom-draft-september-edition/
