Finals Week 3
Except thanks to the corrupted regime that runs the game and picks and chooses who gets priority picks and where they get them, it wonât be a number two draft pick.

The calumny of the AFL's priority pick policy
We werenât gifted that pick. It was the appropriate compensation according to the existing rules.

GAMEDAY (the ultimate): Rd 23 vs North Melbourne
I wouldnât be too sure of that. I tuned into last nightâs game expecting Collingwood to kick a cricket score against Essendon and they struggled to shake them off until after three quarter time. On second thoughts, it was a cricket score being close to what the Poms managed in their first innings.

The calumny of the AFL's priority pick policy
I agree with all of the arguments about early picks etc not being the answer but I would still like to see the club throw out a curve ball by applying for a priority pick on the basis of our mediocre performance this year. After all, even Garry Lyon thinks weâre cr@p and weâve played in the finals once in 13 years. Oops, sorry. Weâre nice guys. We donât rock boats, we sink in them.

CHANGES: Rd 22 vs Sydney
We really have to be very careful with our team selections now that our seasonâs well and truly cooked. We donât want some hack journo with an agenda coming up with a half-cocked conspiracy theory based on us dropping an out of form player that weâre tanking for draft picks.

PREGAME: Rd 16 vs Carlton
On another tack - Carltonâs website does an opposition watch every week. This is the one for Melbourne.

PREGAME: Rd 16 vs Carlton
The only guarantees we have is that for once Preuss plays. Heâs a lock if Max is unfit to play but if Max is declared fit to play but re-injures himself, thereâs going to be hell to pay if he doesnât.

POSTGAME: Rd 12 vs Collingwood
Probably wouldnât have made the difference between a win and a loss but we did lose a key forward before the game and a key defender five minutes in - this sort of thing is a weekly phenomenon.

Casey Demons v Port Melbourne - Round 7
Missed last week due to âsorenessâ and misses again this week. Translation: at Melbourne this means a likely 4 - 6 weeks if he can avoid surgery to overcome the âsorenessâ
