  1. Pity really. I was hoping to see one of those smokeys from Casey turning up.
  2. I’m expecting May back in 4 to 6.
  3. Did the Casey academy boys including the big basketballer turn up?
  4. He should hang around #5 who happens to be best mates with a handy professional basketballer who is playing with the Philadelphia 76ers at the moment.
  5. I’m intrigued by this man mountain from the Academy. Do we take it that he plays for the Dandenong Stingrays in 2020 and if he’s good enough then he could get drafted? The club’s publicity machine needs to roll into action on this.
  6. He’s being well advised IMO. This is his last chance to turn his career around and make a decent living from the sport. A return to WA and a single poor decision could mean that it’s all over.
  7. Which 2020 draft prospects are training at your club? WHICH 2020 PROSPECTS ARE TRAINING AT YOUR CLUB? Adelaide: Corey Durdin, James Borlase, Luke Edwards, Kane Baldwin Brisbane: Blake Coleman, Saxon Crozier, Carter Michael Carlton: Henry Walsh, Noah Gribble, Nikolas Cox Collingwood: Eddie Ford, Reef McInnes Essendon: Cody Brand, Josh Treacy, Josh Eyre Fremantle: Joel Western, Jack Carroll, Brandon Walker, Shannon Neale, Denver Grainer-Barass Geelong: Tanner Bruhn, Oliver Henry, Nick Stevens Gold Coast: Alex Davies, Joel Jeffrey, Brodie Lake Greater Western Sydney: Joshua Green Hawthorn: Connor Downie, Will Parker, Zach Reid Melbourne: Ollie Lord, Will Phillips North Melbourne: Sam Collins, Jackson Callow, Oliver Davis, Patrick Walker, Sam Banks (2021 draft) Port Adelaide: Henry Smith, Lachlan Jones, Zac Dumesny, Taj Schofield, Riley Thilthorpe Richmond: Xavier Maher, Elijah Hollands St Kilda: Jake Bowey, Archie Perkins Sydney: Braeden Campbell, Errol Gulden West Coast: Nathan O'Driscoll, Heath Chapman, Blake Morris, Logan McDonald, Zane Trew Western Bulldogs: Jamarra Ugle-Hagan, Finlay Macrae, Cody Raak
  8. Buckenara isn’t impressed. AFL draft 2019: Recruiter Gary Buckenara analyses every club’s draft haul Buckenara says: Luke Jackson at pick No.3 is a risk. While he was the best ruckman in the draft, I had him rated as the 18th-best player because at 199cm he’s undersized for a ruckman at AFL level and I’ve got concerns over his ability to play as a marking forward. I think he’ll be a bit lost in that role. He’s still raw but there’s no doubting his competitiveness and that he’ll work hard to develop his craft to become a very good AFL player, but he’ll need to improve his marking if he’s going to play forward and ruck. Hopefully he can grow a bit more to get over 200cm and be a better size for an AFL-level ruckman. Kysaiah Pickett was a bolter at pick 12 but the Demons are desperate for some excitement in the forward line he brings that as well as physicality. I think he’ll be given opportunities at AFL level in 2020. He has Liam Ryan traits. Buckenara’s verdict: It’s boom or bust on Jackson but they have addressed list needs.
  9. Do I have to travel to Ohio to collect on the bet?
  10. I understand that we’ve made the decision not to nominate Green. If so, would that be due to an understanding we’ve reached with GWS or are we committed to Jackson and scared that GWS would not match our offer because they want Jackson too?
  11. Did anyone hear Chris from Camberwell on Thursday night?
  12. It seems to me that Green is certainly worthy of nominating at #3. The failure to do so would come as a surprise to me - why are we being such nice guys?
  13. Here’s a possible #97. Family reunification and matches the club’s preferred height profile - Ryan Bennell
  14. More about that closed loophole The Swans found a sneaky draft loophole last year. The AFL just closed it

Nah ... keep open until the PSD. I was surprised that Martin nominated $1m and a 5 year contract, albeit averaging $600kpa over the full term which suggests that these terms are acceptable to Carlton. They’re placing a lot of store on their ability to turn him into a consistently good performer across what will virtually be the remainder of his career. So far, it’s been very unremarkable for someone who selected first in the 2012 special Mini Draft and was considered the best young player in the country at the time.
  16. Anyone know if there’s any training on today?
  17. Interview just now on SEN
  18. A horror injury had this top-10 prospect fearing the worst. Then two AFL guns reached out to ease the nerves

Bennell helping the new wave of indigenous players
  20. This would clearly be better for us than 3, 8 & 97 even if the later pick becomes 75 by the end of the draft. Would 7, 8 & 10 also not be better?
  21. Some interesting questions ahead of the draft - The 10 key questions ahead of this year's AFL draft

I think Freo might do it if it guaranteed them another choice on top of Henry.
  23. I’m staggered that Cornes has a gig in the media.
  24. Not to mention the 2019 season.
  25. That’s correct and it would mean going with a primary list of 39 plus 5 rookies. Much the same effect and depends to some extent on where we stand in terms of the salary cap.
