I didn’t see any of the game (snag duty) and I’m sooooo looking forward to watching the replay tomorrow, not tonight because I’ve got a VFL game to scream my lungs out at. I can only speak for the cheer squad but one of the “Golden Rules” is that we never boo at anyone or anything, with the exception of an absolute howler from an umpire, and even then it’s rare that we boo. This is one of the first things you learn in the DA. But… That all changed on that fateful day when that filthy thug ended Gussy’s career. Now we boo him like there’s no tomoz. At first it felt weird to boo a player, but it soon became easier and now it’s woven into our DA DNA.

I have a little trick I use that you should try: when you feel the gastric contents of your stomach making its way up your oesophagus, quickly look for Brad Close and remember that moment in round 23, 2021 aka Maxy after the siren. Make Brad “double fist” Close your Gaviscon. 😃

If it was pretty much any other player I’d concede that this might be a thinly-veiled dig at Selwyn. But not when it’s Clarrie. Honestly, Clarrie doesn’t allude, he doesn’t imply, he doesn’t speak “between the lines.” He likely wouldn’t have even realised what could be read into his comment. And folks at the club would know this. Should anyone point it out to him he’d calmly say, “Nah, if I wanted to say that I would’ve said it” or similar. That much-reported incident where he had angry words with Selwyn at training was totally overblown IMHO. Clarrie doesn’t even remember it. There’s definitely no lingering grudge, there never was. They get on really well.

I agree, I thought Houston’s barb was funny. Clearly Rankine didn’t. I don’t think the Adelaide fans planned on booing Quaynor, it seemed spontaneous. They couldn’t see it objectively like we all do and their collective lizard brain was like, No Rankine coz Quaynor… Bad Quaynor… BOOOO!
