Paul Guerra was there tonight but didn’t come down to visit us like he usually does. He stayed upstairs at a function and watched the match from there. I saw him briefly at the function at halftime, he said the usual Essendon is dead to me and that was the extent of his interaction with the plebs 😅 Max and Tmac were also there tonight, splitting their time between the function and down on the fence. Judd was there but didn’t attend the function and I believe he was on the other side of the ground near the Essendon cheer squad.

Judd’s girlfriend is Lily Johnson and they’re still together. They’re gonna try to make a long distance relationship work. Lily is out of contract at the end of this season. The feeling amongst some fans is that she’ll end up playing in WA.

You know, I was disappointed the GM, nor the CEO, were present at the Casey B&F last night, but I guess I understand their absence. The VFL and VFLW players deserved a night recognising and celebrating their achievements without distraction. Should they not attend tonight their absence will be felt more intensely because they’ve been at the W matches every week up until now and recent events involving the men’s team doesn’t change the fact that the W need their support. If they do attend tonight I doubt they’ll be mixing with the hoi polloi. 😅 Rather, they’ll watch from behind the safety of the tinted windows of the huge ugly CFC building. One regular W attendee who I reckon will choose not to be there tonight is Judd, for obvious reasons

Speaking of venues, I’m a little annoyed by Garry Lyon’s interview of King on SEN yesterday wherein he mentioned tonight’s match and told folks to come and support the team… at Casey Fields. I’ve had several people messaging or calling me confused as to which is the correct venue. Before anyone says yeah but that won’t really affect crowd size, please remember that W attendance is poor as it is. We need every single attendee we can get. Anyways… The Mighty Dees by Captain Kate (10) + the number of goals she’ll kick tonight (5) + my girl LJ33 (33) + five Tylas because sometimes it feels like there’s five of her out there (25) = 73 points 😁

You had me at “pitch invasion.” We SO have to do this should she kick her 100th. Surely they can’t fine us if we’re all out there at the same time. 😁

Also, there’s something about the expression “welcomed me with open arms” when it comes to Casey players. Both Riley Baldi and Deakyn Smith during their acceptance speeches said, “Opened me with welcome arms.” True story. And Riley Bonner said, “Opened me and my family with open arms.” Again, true story.

No Guerra in attendance. No anybody actually. Around 2/3 of the players weren’t there. It was still better than the Bluey though. The VFL and VFLW players and coaches are so approachable and friendly. The VFLW girls are so much fun. Rowdy as F. There were only five of us repping the DA but we were super loud and likely fairly annoying 🤭 Mitch Hardie came third in the B&F. Bill Laurie came second and Riley Bonner came first. Bill wasn’t there so his dad accepted it on his behalf. A couple of drunk loudmouthed uncouth gals (that none of you know 🤥) screamed out “WE LOVE YOU, BILL’S DAD!” The same drunkards also kept yelling out “KICK IT TO NOAH!” every time Ooze Jnr’s name was mentioned. Some people have no shame! And no indoor voice😁 Taylor Whitford’s speech was very moving, especially when his voice cracked and he was fighting back tears. TC won the award for best finals player. I have a new bestie! Riley Baldi. He’s a lovely guy and is so humble and forever grateful to have been welcomed back to Casey. He won the Trademark and Values award. Nigel Carmody was the host and did a great job. He barracks for North but at one time played for Casey. I told him he and Jason Bennett are my favourite commentators and that BT is a clueless old buffoon. He didn’t comment on the BT thing but his huge grin said I know right?! 😅

Bloody oath OD! As you know Sesto is overseas holidaying with Howsey, JvR, Sharpie, Bill Laurie and one other whose name escapes me since I’ve had a glass of champagne on an empty stomach. And I have an empty stomach coz I haven’t eaten all day because our stoopid bloody club is at it again!! A year’s worth of stress in one day.
