I got a totally different vibe from Checkers and Jack (Steele). Both really lovely guys but both had the air of a kid at a new school. I warmly welcomed both and told them they’re gonna love it at our club and they’ll settle in soon enough. Two new players who are decency personified.

After training I hugged CJ and some of the boys were saying Hey, looks like Ghosty has a new favourite player! And I’m like Yep, I sure do! Then Oscar (Berry) said, “I thought I was your new favourite! You gave me a nice hug before.” (He’s new, he’s yet to learn I hug anything that moves 😁) I told them they’re both my new favourite players and we were all having a good laugh about it, until… on the other side of the tent I spotted Luker and he was shaking his head in disgust and muttering under his breath something something not loyal something something. He told CJ and Oscar “Don’t fall for it. You’ll be her favourite ‘til someone else comes along.” 😅. Then he really hammed it up, he said, “She has #44 on her jumper and wears my badge, and now she treats me like chopped liver!” 😅 I assured Luker I won’t be changing jumper numbers and Oscar said “Only because she doesn’t yet know what number I’ll be wearing.” 🤣

No soccer balls. No S&Gs. No clowning around. Serious AF training. Kingy has such a presence out there, he’s an imposing figure. But like with many man-mountains he’s a sweet person, to me anyways 😊

Taylor W will do a great job. He’s now head of development and Rory Atkins is development coach. Chappy said this is new since we didn’t have someone in Rory’s role before now.

I told Wheels I met Kingy last week and he said “What’s he like? I haven’t met him yet.” 😅 Taylor Whitford is here too. He said the boys are “absolutely itching” to get out here this morning.

It’s gonna be a circus today. Relatively speaking, that is. Collingwood and the other big clubs get this sort of attention at every training session. We rarely do.

💙💙GAMEDAY❤️❤️ A win today is so crucial. The last final we won was the 2022 premiership. This point is not lost on our young players who’ve clearly been made aware of this. I got the same vibes talking about this with Dingo as I did with Paxy. One of Mick’s very many talents is the focus leading up to each match. He has a theme and it’s never generic. Anyways, it doesn’t need to be pretty, it doesn’t need to be by a big margin, it just needs to be a WIN! And no injuries, of course 🤞 I’m not a fan of finals campaign slogans (still getting over the whole “Possessed” thing in the men’s in 2023) but we have one this year. It’s… BRING THE HEAT! But it’s way better than North’s which is NOT DONE YET 🥱

1-4 year players commence preseason this Monday at 10am. The seniors start back about two weeks after that.

The W didn’t make finals last year, OD. In 2023 we finished top 4 but went out in straight sets. In 2022 we won the premiership. We haven’t won a final since the premiership win, therefore tomorrow is so important. Glad to see you supporting the W 👍🏽
