Has he ever had good form in the AFL? It's possible he's just not up to it. Maybe a change of scenery would help but I don't think he'd be worth much on the trade table at the moment. I'd take a punt on him but certainly wouldn't want to overpay.

Is Duursma worth that much? He can barely get a game and when he has he's not done much. The fact that he was a high draft pick doesn't mean much once exposed AFL form comes into it.

Well for example it's already been reported that Mark Williams is out of contract. There have been several reports about our footy department expecting a shake up this off-season and with Goodwin gone I see no reason why we shouldn't expect more change. Even in that 3AW clip Caroline Wilson was saying we are going to be hiring high performance manager, assisstant coaches etc. Also just an expectation that our coaching appointment will probably be similar to how most other coaching appointments go. I don't really have any reason to believe that we are a special case in that regard. When a new coach is appointed they bring in their own people. Obviously not a 100% turnover of the entire footy department, but significant enough change that it looks significantly different.

There are definitely levers we can and will pull. Not everyone in the department going to be under contract. Pretty much every time a club sacks a coach their footy department has massive turnover. A couple of coaches might survive, a couple of roles might be changed, but broadly it will be a significant regime change.

The side he took over in 2011 was completely turned over by 2018. I agree Buckley got the top job too early and made mistakes, but after that he effectively rebuilt the side and improved as a coach drastically. He shouldn't be the only candidate but I certainly wouldn't rule him out.

Interesting looking back at when Collingwood were in a similar position back in 2021. President gone, Coach gone, List Manager gone, CEO wrapping up, board at war with the future president. Bunch of coaches names being thrown up in the air (Don't think McCrae even gets brought up) and Caroline Wilson of course very concerned about the situation at board level. Also hilarious watching Eddie go on a massive rant immediately after saying he'd stay right out of it. Can you imagine the reactions on here if Roffey went on TV this week and started talking about what a mess the club was?

Think Howe played like 5 games up forward then Collingwood got some injuries and Buckley was like "oh well". He's never seen the forwardline since lol. Roos always knew he wasn't a forward.

I think what matters is whether the club can embrace the facilities or not. It seems like most of our people have been unhappy with their current lot. Similar to the Saints at Seaford. Interesting experiment to see how Hawthorn go 15 minutes up the road in Dingley.

Weirdly, Casey didn't seem to be an albatross around our necks between 2014-2018. That was when we brought in Vince, Cross, Melksham, Hibberd, Lever, May etc. Were we training more at Gosch's then? I don't think club officials publicly moaning about how bad our base is really helped our cause, and the lack of progress finding a new home has caused a lot of frustration internally. I think the other thing that has held our recruitment back is looking like a constant basketcase off-field for four years.

Isn't this broadly reported as being our plan? In all likelihood we're going to go in with a totally revamped footy department, a new CEO and new President.

Oliver basically needs to completely reinvent his game the way Rowell has. Not sure he has that in him. Never been a very good kick.

Reckon I've now seen about 15 ITK's with claims like this regarding a variety of different coaches and changes within the club. Not sure what to make of it but it will be exciting to find out who end up being right.

If replacing the coach doesn't change anything, then it doesn't really matter that we sacked Goodwin anyway because his effect on the club was negligible.

If this is true are we just replacing one interim president with another? Is there no serious person who is interested in running the club long term?

We already know Smith is on the panel to decide the next coach. I’d be astonished if Smith isn't keenly involved in every key decision being made right now.

Genuinely cannot work out the big deal about a timeline that was vague to begin with being moved a couple of months.

The reports that we want to appoint someone before the GF would all but rule out anyone from a team that make it past the first week of finals.
