  1. We want Hale because he has the ability to play as a Forward. Putting Frasier deep in our forward line would be as worthless as banging your own sister. Will get you absolutely no where and it's just utterly pointless. /endrant
  2. Melbourne obviously know something that we don't know. They are targeting him for specific reasons if we are going to trade those types of picks to lure him in. The interchange rules is an added incentive to get him, but Melbourne have drafted and traded exceptionally well over the few years. For everyone having a massive banter fest at the club, saying its a big bloody joke and how you are disgusted - should really stop posting if you have nothing to provide but a negative attitude. They know more than we do, if we are targeting him this hard - we obviously need someone of his personal attributes. Maybe Jamar has had a word to the department? He needs someone because he is getting tired of running around too much? Maybe he knows so many clubs would be interested in him if he does decide to move on so he doesn't have to do all the work? If Melbourne want Hale in our team, then going from previous history in our recruiting department, I give them all my faith this year as well.
  3. Would be an alright pick up for Richmond actually, take the pressure off Jack Riewoldt that the opposing back line will drill to shut down hard core every game
  4. Dont get rid of Bennell. It will be as bad as trading Tarrant for Medhurst. A magician in the making, just wait and see
  5. If anyone says Alwyn Davey over Bennell your absolutely insane.
  6. Jack is born and bred in Melbourne, I remember when I was younger and I ran into Todd Viney and got his autograph and he was holding Jack lol. Who would have thought that I was staring at a 4 year old who is probably going to become a superstar. He better make the right decision and know where his future is at
  7. Just because we have a lot of skilled midfielders coming through (Scully, Trengove, Gysberts, Blease, Mckenzie) doesn't mean they will over take and knock out a player such as Brent Moloney from our best 22. We do have young talent that will get better, but going up against a strong bodied midfield with those players that wont gain the bulk needed by 2012 will just result in us getting dominated in the center. This was shown against Hawthorn, they absolutley killed us and ran rings around us. You need a tough body to get in and under and feed the handball out to our Scullies and our Trengoves. In my opinion Moloney does a better job of that than Nathan Jones or Colin Sylvia.
  8. The time when Jack Riewoldt kicked one goal because Frawley is one of the best defenders in the league. game set match
  9. 24 yeah sorry, got my numbers mixed up
  10. He has wracked up possessions after possessions, kicked critical goals and assisted many in his past games this year. Despite missing 6 games for the season, he has been a massive stand out. I believe he is one of our most important player running through the midfield, as his blitzing speed, strength, agility and passing have been phenomenal this year. David Schwarz on Sunday said he thinks Colin can win a Brownlow Medal. I believe with an uninterrupted season, being apart of an up and coming side like Melbourne whom are bound to be a competitive and top side in the years to come, he has shown the potential that he can At 26 years of age do we think he has the ability/time to do so? Thoughts?
  11. In: Trengove, Moloney, Tapscott Out: Bennell, Jurrah, Bail /end
  12. It's hard to pull players out as everyone had a good game, but lets be realistic a 73 point thrashing everyone is bound to chip in and have a go. If it was a closer margin you would have found players easily to replace with. Playing Brisbane is a total new ball game, gloating on the fact everyone did well last match was and is a different story. Brisbane at the gabba are a tougher side, and we do need our best and most experienced players in. Holding onto the fact that every player would contribute as they did last Sunday isn't the best approach, personally I would look at what best team I can field on paper and go from there. I.e in: the likes of Moloney, Trengove And out: Maric, Bail. Maric and Bail did have a great game, their 2nd efforts were amazing and great contributors. But lets be realistic, the match this weekend will be a closer margin than last Sunday no doubt - and having two young players with not all that many games under their belt really wouldn't best be suited. You noticed them in a 73 point game, but come a 10-30 point ball game which I expect more I would rather my experienced players out there showing leadership.
  13. No doubt we are a stronger, faster and our chemistry has strengthened. But then again it is an interstate match, I believe if we go out with the same attitude in the first quarter against the swans we could repeat what happened on Sunday.
  14. Before anyone jumps down my throat, I know Frawley is an awesome defender and pushing for All Australian and this is purely hypothetical but I was just curious on peoples opinion on how we would actually go down forward? He has a big sized body, knows how to read the ball and his man - if we had a player like Frawley in our forward line I believe it would be quite damaging. Thoughts? P.S - GUYS I KNOW HE IS A BRILLIANT DEFENDER, THIS IS PURELY OUT OF CURIOSITY a.k.a L. Tapscott?
  15. The draft is there to peak and trough AFL teams. I have gone to game after when we are playing locally, and watched the smashing and had to deal with the frustration over the years when Melbourne were at the bottom of the ladder. Sydney had their premiership win not all that long ago, supporters should stop being selfish and learn to deal with the fact their team lost to a better one on the day. And it annoys me to tears about this whole 'draft pick' situation. Yes, we got Tom Scully, Jack Trengove, Jack Watts - but we traded for Jack Grimes, and Jordan Gysberts. We won against Carlton and settled for Cale Morton, Jordan Mcscrub kicked that winning goal for Richmond. What more do they have to sook about? On the day, Trengove wasn't playing Scully contributed but wasn't a massive stand out and neither was Jack Watts our two top picks. ALSO, maybe Sydney should wake up and come to the realization really how good our drafting has been over the years. Not only for the priority picks, but the rookie and pre-season draft picks. Rookie Drafts: - Mark Jamar (2002) - Aaron Davey (2004) - Austin Wonaeamirri (2008) - Jordie McKenzie (2009) Pre-season draft picks: - Liam Jurrah (2009) - Joel Macdonald (2010) Not to mention late draft pick that are stand out players: - Colin Garland Pick No.46 overall (2006) - Ricky Petterd Pick No.30 overall (2006) - Jamie Bennell Pick No.35 overall (2008) In my opinion, Sydney are scraping the barrel for excuses and are realizing that our recruitment over the years are finally coming together which will definitely achieve victories like these over the coming years. /end rant
  16. You're right, Bennell does like to present up the wing. He has great burst of speed and can peel of his man very easily to create an option. This was shown in the very first goal on Sunday where he picked it up and sprinted into the forward 50 and centered the ball which Dunn kicked
  17. Bennell will be one of the best small forwards in the future. I can guarantee you that
  18. I don't care what anyone says, but I watch Bennell closely and he is probably our smartest and most talented players he just doesn't seem to be able to find the ball as much as we would like.
  19. Really liked how we played also. He reminded me of Jack Grimes the way he moved, ran back with the flight of the ball and provided much needed pace rebounding from our back line. I always thought we needed to replace him after the Bulldogs match, but every match I'm beginning to see how awesome our back line is developing. With players like Frawley going up for the grab, Colin Garland and Rivers being spoil experts with Bartram and Grimes providing the run. Everything is coming together
  20. Err.. Why are people considering dropping Joel Macdonald? Every time I saw him in a one on one, he played it very smart and won it nearly every time. I hardly saw him make any errors or poor judgment calls of the footy.
  21. I've seen Petterd out a few times at the Hawthorn, he probably wouldn't be able to live with not being able to go out clubbing or to a bar in the Gold Coast. But realistically, if you were Petterd and were interviewed you would respond in the same manner if you had intentions of leaving. You wouldn't come out and say you are bailing or thinking about it straight out, especially with the awkwardness surrounding his club and team mates. If he has guaranteed he is staying wearing the red and blue, he would make it official by signing THE CONTRACT. No he has not confirmed he is staying, and no he has not confirmed he is leaving. Everyone saying their glad he is staying, stop spreading false hope as nothing yet is set in stone. //endrant_sickofhearingaboutPetterdleavingorstayingjustwaitforthecontracttobesigned_cheers
  22. Agreed. Dunn could have kicked another 2 goals that game as well, he was all over Shaw like a cheap suit.
  23. Watts will be > than Reiwoldt in a few years time. I'd rather be in this position now with a very strong backline and an emerging forward line, than a strong forward line with an emerging backline. Defense win championships.
