The way Stef dropped back into defense, created a contest and followed it up with his second efforts and accurate kicking or a clean handball to release a running player was amazing to watch. And also leading up through the center creating options and opportunities for run and switch. He has come out of no where as did Jamar. Martin is playing his best footy when he is dropping back and pushing up, not going forward and kicking goals. He is a crucial part in providing some tall lead up marks coming off half back. Great to see him find some amazing form.

The way he played on from kicking in and delivering a penetrating kick to the wing, which then seeing Howe leap over the pack and take a massive grab made me all wet.

I've been harping on for Jack Grimes to be named in the middle to give him a run, saw him there in the opening bounce and nearly wet myself. A massive shame to see him go down with this injury and prematurely cut off what I believe would have paid off naming Grimes in the middle against Adelaide. However when one door closes, another one opens. This isn't our year to be aiming for top 4 even top 8, sure position progress is great up the ladder - but I'm just as excited to see who could be named in our squad and make a real impact. i.e Tapscott. That being said if I were Bailey I would give any one of our younger players a shot instead of bringing back Cale Morton straight into the side. Whether that would be Evans, Nicholson, Blease etc. Better this injury happen now than 4 years down the track when we are looking at finals contentions.

If I was a Melbourne player out of contract and an elite player such as Scully turned down such a lucrative deal, the last thing I'd want to look like is a desperate sloppy seconds recruit. Scully signing will definitely be a positive for us not just him remaining as a demon, but for others to follow suit. Domino effect.

The reason why Jack Watts did this was to increase his potential salary value if he had a standout season and was approached by other clubs, which then Melbourne would seek to match - therefore increasing his contract offering by Melbourne. Because he knows he wasn't going to get offered the big bucks this early in his career as he has not had a break out season he signed mid way during the year, leaving it any later would be pointless. Scully may or may not be doing this - just delaying contract signings at Melbourne to increase his salary when offered by GWS as everyone knows he will be a massive player. I'm not worried though, watch Brent Moloney sacrifice his pay and give it to Scully. Just watch

Mate, every thread I click on I see you belittling every ones comments its disgusting. But ok cut nerd, let me EXPLAIN TO YOU why I think Bennell is our smartest footballer. 1) Whenever I see a player pick up the ball and INSTANTLY get tackled I face palm myself. When I see Bennell chase the ball, he taps the ball in front of him to gain a few extra meters for pace. He has massive awareness he does this pretty much every time. 2) Ever seem to wonder why he makes such a good contest for a grab even though his size would play a major impact for any other player? Its because he knows when to jump and curl his hands so the ball hits on the ground in front of him, crumbing the spoils every time along the wing from kick ins. He does this every time and it always works 3) When he picks up the ball, he knows where to run and how to run with it. He takes the game on and finds amazing pace. This was shown against Sydney first quarter when he applied the accelerator and passed it to Dunn I think it was who kicked a goal. He does this every time but doesn't finish all the time. Stop acting like your apart of the Melbourne Football Department, your a moderator on a website. Get your head straight.

Hi I'm E25, I like to troll other peoples post every day and question their opinion. I know what I see in Bennell, and if you cant see it your watching a different game. Just because he doesn't rack up the stats to your liking - doesn't mean he doesn't make the cut of being a smart player. You watch the way he knows how to get clear, or shrug a tackle, or when to speed, or trap the ball. You obviously don't see the little things, just the big picture.

Bennell is our smartest footballer. He just needs to learn to be in the right spots to crumb and get his hands on the footy. Love the way he sprints up the wing from kick ins, takes a mark and delivers it to our forward line. Will be a great player in the future, can guarantee it.

You really couldn't see that I was coming from a hypothetical point of a view, and was basically saying that Frawley has the attributes as well to fill a great forward line player like Neitz did?
