  1. I’m calling it now – Richmond will be in 9th position heading into the final day of the season. (Why do they always end up in 9th when I fiddle with AFL Ladder Predictor? It's freakin' uncanny).
  2. You know what I think is suspicious? I've never met a single person named Rory. There's clearly something untoward going on in Adelaide.
  3. He said as much last year and hinted at an intended patience. http://www.heraldsun.com.au/sport/afl/teams/essendon/melbourne-coach-simon-goodwin-says-players-returning-from-bans-will-need-time-to-settle-in/news-story/f30360b18145f85954ba211cc26f485b
  4. We're #1 for marks so far this year. The key though, we're just about bottom for contested marks alongside Hawthorn and Essendon. With Gawn out, this isn't getting any better, and Spencer has the opposite problem to Dawes - his hands are too soft. The issue is, it alters our outlet structure when under pressure or kicking in from defence (see Freo 3rd qtr.)
  5. Such as with the collective decisions by only half of the footy departments every weekend. The selection panel may know better than us, but then our opposition selection panel thinks it knows better than them, so it's right for us to question the whole goddamned universe and whether or not there can ever be such a thing as ontological certainty.
  6. That should be another shot. He could take a contested defensive grab but was very very slow to move it on from the mark.
  7. That you should spell his name correctly before you call him a spod.
  8. Well, we did win a high % of games in the VFL last year also . . .
  9. I posted the same general point in the preview thread without diluting it with too much statistical noise: We were 6-3 last year with Pedo in the team. Those wins were against GWS, Collingwood, Richmond, GC(1), Hawthorn and Port, mostly matches where we played our best footy for the season. He didn't play in our flat wins vs. Freo, Brisbane & GC (2) and was absent from the decent win v Collingwood (2). For balance, the losses he played in included Essendon, but also the Bulldogs and St. Kilda (1) where we were simply hammered around the ball. There is merit in the idea that Pedersen provides something structurally that betters our performance. And it's not such a wild idea, because that's why people often call for his inclusion - not due to some notion that he'll kick a swag of goals as our #1 KPF.
  10. We can compare and contrast Bugg's output with Kent's, but not the psychology of their responses. You usually provide a dissenting rational voice on these sorts of runaway conclusions. We have no idea if Kent cracked the sads, but soon enough it'll be considered a fact around here that Dean Kent has a propensity for sulking. Maybe he was rattled by Gus going down, and Bugg is just a heartless [censored] and selfish team-man? Who knows.
  11. This was accidentally posted in the wrong thread. Or maybe it wasn't? The plot thickens.
  12. 'Nat Fyfe's thin black headband has become synonymous with his playing style' - huh? The AFL should ban the Hun from reporting on football.

  14. Conflicted re. Dusty's potential non-inclusion. On the one hand I don't want the Richmond fans to have any excuses whatsoever when we thump them. On the other, planting a psychological worm that they can't win without Dusty would be fun.
  15. Because he kicked a goal against them once.
  16. I lived in Henley Beach last year and can confirm that Bernie plays for Melbourne.
  17. Barry Prendaghast Mark Neeld Jason Taylor Paul Roos Simon Goodwin We're pretty flexible when it comes to assigning praise or blame from recruiting decisions.
  18. Jayden Hunt slices through the spuds as the Demons carve up those turkeys . . . Maybe MKR can sponsor us?
  19. I think Saty may have broken his two Asahi limit.
  20. Send Picket a message. He can explain it to you.
  21. A very long bow - but I've been pondering if 'all that frenetic effort, chasing, tackling,' and our #1 poz for pressure acts has any bearing on goal-kicking accuracy? Like the winter biathletes in a broad sense. If someone can direct me toward the annual team stats for forward/midfield 'pressure acts', I can do a comparative and see if there's a correlation between high-energy footy and poor goal-kicking accuracy.
  22. I think people are confused with the definition of 'average' in this context. As in; an average AFL player, like Tom McNamara, will end up playing about four games of AFL for their career.
  23. It's not even clear that he lied rather than 'omitted.' Can the lawyers on here offer a run-down as to the AFL's jurisdiction on this matter and the extent of their investigative and punitive powers? What if he had refused to co-operate outright? And have the AFL breached any responsibilities to advise Melksham to seek counsel prior to the initial interview?
  24. Man-child.
  25. You mean like when Jones sat out the 2015 season with a neck issue?
