  1. I think Bailey Laurie has to play.. and i would drop Spargo. Ineffective at best the last 2 games. and really not a great year.
  2. A real Legend of the club. Vale.
  3. Thought we were horrible in nearly every post last night. Petty, Oliver, Viney, Hibbo, lever exceptions. We lacked dare and played into teh hands of geelong. Coaching was ordinary. Dont pick 2 blokes if they cant play the game out. Why Jackson wouldn't rest at FF last night was beyond me, Brown had to go up the ground.. no one was in the forward line for the next kick. Fritsch is a good player, but he was dumb and lazy last night. Its a wake up call, not panic stations. Just get 4 points next match then we move onto the next.
  4. To be honest I'm really disappointed in Luke. I have tried to be ok about it and understand it, but we took a risk on him, developed him, gave him opportunities, turned him into a premiership player. And now he wants to abandon us. Grow up. Homesick is something kids get when they sleep at a friends house. He is a 21 year old, not a 12 year old. He should sign for 2 years, then he can go. Its all that plus, there is no way in hell we are going to get a fair deal for him. Freo are in the box seat. they will offer first rounder and future first or first rounder and a fringe player. That pick as we know will be mid teens. We should be asking for a Tabener on return. and a first rounder as a minimum He wont go to West Coast.. and we wont march him to the pre season draft... so the club had better be prepared to play the hard long game on this. Really annoys me.
  5. I think this will be really good for Weid, work hard around the ground, it will make him feel involved, i think he will do well. Our game will change on the back of turnovers and scoring. Simply, if we can convert opportunities, then we will win and get back on track. The Swans and Pies games, i think were not bad loses, and while not at our best, i think we were not far off in both games. Pressure, hold our nerve down back and then get it in quick. We win.
  6. Absolutely he does. Is that because there is no May, or is it because its form. Bit of both i suggest.
  7. Sorry Ollie, i totally disagree. I think he has been awful. And i would hope he has a better last half of the season. I understand his limited start to season, but its his decision making that shows me he is horribly out of form like a lot of players. Good thing is he can recapture it and hopefully a settled back 7 will do wonders for the team.
  8. IMO i dont think we will see the dominant Jackson in the next month. He is not a first choice ruckman. He is a utility, old fashioned ruck rover if you like. I dont thin he is a dominant ruckman at all. His value the next month will be dropping back behind teh ball or marking inside 50. It wont be in the ruck.
  9. So May back makes the backline better obviously.. but a 7 of: Hibbo, May, Bowey, Petty, Lever, Salo and Brayshay is excellent. The midfield doesn't change really: Jacko, Clarry, Trac, Jack, Ed, Jordan and Sparrow is a midfield that won us the GF - so i have confidence in that group. The FWD line - its a mess. Has to be. Koz, Spargs, ANB, Weid, Fritta and i think its Tomlinson.. has to play Tmac role.. lead up, open the fwd line up, get up the ground and work back. Fritta at FF, rotate Trac trhrough there as well. Weid and Bedford and have Daw as Sub. I know they wont drop BBB but i think he is awfully out of form.. his timing is worse than a knock on the door from an aunty when you are home alone with your girlfriend.
  10. You look fit when you win, you look unfit when you lose. Ive noticed that last 3 weeks, we have gone into the shell a bit , move the ball slow, it adds to the look of being unfit. Confidence levels increase, ball movement gets better, all of a sudden we dont look as unfit. Just need to ride out this storm, form will return, then wins will happen.
  11. I thought he was pretty good v the pies. he was asked to do a lot, he competed, he pushed fwd, he was down back and did more time in the ruck than he probably has before. The kid is probably representative of the whole group. A bit down on form, not a 100% and not having a huge impact. it will turn.
  12. not one for inside word, but a coterie member we sometimes cross paths with, has said the team is really battling fitness at the moment. Langdon is no where near fit, his ribs (broken) not right, Petty is multiple injections to play last 3 weeks, Petracca has had a flu that has stuck around and is really causing him to labour.. a couple of the covid players from earlier are taking longer than usual to find 100% . Also Salem looks off the pace which is to be expected. SO while im sure its not THE problem, i am sure its A problem. Hoping a decent break, mentally as well as physically will do the team wonders. The thing i hold my hat on is that we are a good side and we know how to play good footy, so that doesnt go away, form is temporary.. class is permanent and a few players will return to top form which will dramatically help.
  13. Not sure if its been discussed, but Jake Lever is really out of form and to the point he is a bit of a liability. I know you cant drop him or do much with him and he is a better player with May in the team, but if that's what it takes for him to be good then that's a real worry. His decision making with teh ball and without the ball is costing is goals. If you go back and watch yesterday and i had a great view at teh ground and watched him closely, he gives far to much rope to his players, zones off or goes to contest when its simply not needed and leaves his opponent free. Then he panics with ball in hand, makes bad decisions, turns into trouble all the time. He is a liability at the moment.
  14. I just hate all of this. I love May, he has been so good for our club, but i hate reading about what he has said and the way he has carried on. I love Melksham and he has given a fair bit to the club as well, love that he stood up for himself and his teammate, absolutely detest that he used violence. Hate it. Just hate all of it, leaves me with a sick feeling in my guts. Cant say too much more about it really. Its just a huge mess.
  15. Gotcha gernalism is alive and well in AFL Media. Its a horrible industyry with zero accountability. Max was great and gives me great faith that the boys will respond.
  16. Its embarrassing, and the club has done nothing to make me feel like this for a while, in fact, the opposite really, i have beamed with pride for a couple of years now being a Melbourne supporter. As far as Public relations and this week go, its been a disaster. It really has. And there is only one thing that will keep teh wolves at bay and its to win. Petracca to come out and have 3 goal plus 30 game - Stop Fumbling. Brown to stand up, kick goals ( make the distance at least) Lever to tighten up, stop panicking, and play with some conviction. Tomlinson to be calm, measured, and strong. Assume teh Maty role. Lead. Gawn, Viney, Clarry - sgo hard again, they have been great all year basically.. go harder this week. Kozzie, get involved - kick goals, light up the G. Luke Jackson - stop the silly handballs over your shoulder.. get the ball and go forward. These guys can do it. Go to the bye with a win.. have a week out of the spotlight, go have a fire and a few home truths at Staffords and start the campaign for Back To Back post bye.
  17. U have a feeling their will be a debutant this week. Although QB and first gamers have not been great for us.. But i think they might give JVR a go. he might run up the ground a bit more.. freshen it up.. not sure but it wouldn't surprise me. Also wonder if they have thought about Mitch Brown going back at any stage? especially if Petty might miss..
  18. Hunt has been forced to defend last line and bigger opposition in the last 2 weeks, its not what he is designed to do. He is a sit on a small and go with them player. He will get Ginnivan this week. He isn't getting axed.
  19. Goody post match presser was pretty damning on on Weid. First time i have heard him not really back a player in.. wants him to play big man footy.. and he isn't. So i expect Weid to have an extended run in the 2's
  20. Lets cut to the chase, Trac is out of form or injured. Watch his game Saturday night, he fumbled the ball more than anyone on the ground and that is a sign that his touch is just not there. Its actually symptomatic across the team, key players are desperately out of touch. Ben Brown - cant get near it, when he does, missing easy shots, some not making the distance. Lever - exposed badly without May and not the intercept player he was last year. Jacko - Just going to be honest.
  21. Interesting from the weekend: Max Gawn played 112 out of 115 minutes. All but basically 3 minutes. Luke Jackson played 74 out of 115 minutes Mitch Brown 95 out of 115 Ben Brown 78 of 115. I think we are about to see Max play a hell of a lot more forward.
  22. So interesting from the weekend: Max Gawn played 112 out of 115 minutes. All but basically 3 minutes. Luke Jackson played 74 out of 115 minutes Mitch Brown 95 out of 115 Ben Brown 78 of 115. I think we are about to see Max play a hell of a lot more forward.
  23. I reckon Rivers had to go, but still think he is unlucky. Hope the young fella take sit on the chin and gets to work, because he has been a really important player since arriving. Its a much better balanced team. being 10-1 is great and no panic stations at all, but think its a really important game for us. Hoping BBB can clunk a couple.. in front 20m out.. thats where he needs to get them.
