Agree, and to be fair, i only said Salem could be put out to see if there are any nibbles, but what if in 3/4 years time, we have 2 young key fwds that are key pillars in our team and driving a 1-2 punch to the GF and keeps us at the top echelon of teams for ten years.. but we ignored it and went for Some tall fwd from the Gold coast who cant get a game. Its all just conversation starters.

I dont think everyone is piling on him, most have been defending him. I am piling on him a bit and i make no apologies for it. I hope he bounces back next year, but he was really poor this year, weaponless i reckon.

Again, it has to be a minimum of 2 first rounders and one in the top 6 (possibly top 8) Jackson might nominate Freo early, as early as today or tomorrow, but the deal will take a long time to happen, especially with teh 3rd party deals needed.

I respect that view and i dont disagree that he was good last year, in fact his GF was fantastic. But is he a great kick though? i mean he is a great 20-30m kick.. is he a great 40m plus penetrating slicing kick? or is it his calm cool demeanour and decision making that makes people think he is a great kick?

Yeah maybe not ruthless but smart and aggressive. All i am saying is that while Salem's best is very good, what if we dont see that again, and he doesn't recapture the form he had. lets face it He isn't going to get any quicker. All just food for thought.

His finals were awful and i would argue he was a liability at times.. and yep he wasnt on his own, SF - 11 disposals 4 turnovers 64% disposal eff QF - 12 disposals 4 turnovers only 6 kicks. I get it that's its not likely and most would think its absurd.. i dont think its absurd at all to explore options.

That's true, but what if it was to help get us to Cadmen? Man this has rattled the cages. Ok, so we wont trade Salem, i get that. But if we stand still we get left behind. Great sides have a history of being ruthless by being progressive. Will we be daring and look to refresh, or will we, like we did when we lost the prelim in 2018 just assume this list will get it done next year?

Yep, its big call, also didn't say trade him, just said dangle his name, what if a club came and offered a first rounder? anyway, its just conjecture, but one thing i will die on the hill about is that his ball use was impotent this year, since the first game back from injury. If he isn't being a weapon with his kicking, then what is he? because he isn't quick. So what's his point of difference. I just think he was the most disappointing player of the season and i know his injury didnt help. He should have been dropped, and it really hampered teh role of Bowey.

My exact reason BW511 for even suggesting. His weapon is his precise kicking, it didn't present itself all year, injury considered, and he is slow, and getting slower.

Also his main asset is his kicking skills, every game he played i would describe his asset as passive and non threatening.

Yep totally understand that, I dont think they would trade him, i would look at it taking all the emotion out of it, but I totally get the mates aspect. He was ultra disappointing this year and I'm aware of his injuries, he needs to get as fit as he ever has been to keep up with the game in my opinion.

My two cents worth: We have to refresh the list to some degree. Clearly we cant do too much, but we should be creative where we can. History shows teams cant stand still after winning a flag, we need new talent and new ideas. Im ok with Grundy, i think the character he is, he will be determined to atone and show the footy world he has plenty to offer and the club wont risk him if he is shot injury wise. There are players on the list that will go. M.Brown, Baker, Melksham, Bedford (trade) Daw (gone already) and Jackson (bye Luke, if you not with us, you against us) So thats a good number of list spots to get new talent in. Jackson trade should get us 2 first rounders, Bedford, maybe a third? so we will have some capital in this draft. I think a lot of focus on fwds and rightly so, but id nearly take the best kick in the draft if available. Also, i know this wont be popular, but i would dangle Christian Salem out to the market.. i think he is nearly done.

Would not hesitate. Toby has some tricks, but in my opinion he is a rung below an accomplished senior footballer.

If we dont keep refreshing the list, we will have short fall of top end young talent. That is why, i can tell you we want a pick inside the top 5/6 and another in the top 18 for Jackson. Which I still see no one can possibly tell us how this deal is going to get it done for Jackson?

If Spargo misses, straight swap for Bowey. Another good user, can play same role.

I agree with the Bowey chat, i think he has to play somehow.. could he be any worse that ANB has been? i know people will say ANB plays a selfless team role, but i reckon Bowey is clean and neat and tough so its not such a stretch to say he could replace him? I dont know.. its a really hard selection week.

Having Petracca as a permanent fwd is funny.. look at his goal kicking stats.. atrocious and is what is separating him from being a really really good player to the best in the comp. He is a shocking converter. And frankly its costing us. If he converted more it might take pressure of our fwd line. He has to get better. But if we cant work out a way to hit a player on the lead more than we do we aint winning. And there is not a chance we smack the Lions like we have the last 2 games they will never be more confident, Rayner and Answorth back in.. we are a bit beaten up.. its going to be hard to win.
