Farewell Alex Neal-Bullen
Omg, my bestie moved to the UK and literally left Australia yesterday. Her (only) favourite AFL player... Nibbler!! What timing...

Kate Roffey
Wow, y'all would hate Sydney. I live in one of the nicer suburbs over SCG way and regularly see rats and cockroaches... I'm always impressed by how clean Melbourne is whenever I visit π

TRAINING: Friday 9th August 2024
Never thought the day would come where Gawny is not a perfect role model, but here we are... Jawny asleep at the wheel in terms of indoctrinating Jorge!

TRAINING: Thursday 1st August 2024
Does this mean we're in a polygamous situation, WCW? Because my conclusion on reading "Langer- David Bowie" was that he's my soul mate π (Although Rock and Roll Suicide is my all time favourite in truth, due to that beautiful crescendo and compassionate lyrics)

Retro Round
Love the concept of a retro round except for fitting into my retro gear π

What was your excuse?
I arrived in Melbourne on Thursday night and made it to the G tonight (wearing a second pair of pants under my red and blue match day pants). Shivered alongside the rest of the Demon Army and headed home after helping pack up to watch our first Olympics Gold!

Koltyn Tholstrup Re-Signs until 2028
Look at that big grin on Kolt's face! How good! Must be all those culture problems we have π€

Grand Final Entertainment
Perry was picked before her album launched and crashed, I believe. For mass appeal, she has so many hits that she could play and easily keep a crowd happy with. Quite a few on here would probably know her songs from radio saturation even if they wouldn't realise those songs were hers / have an interest in those songs. She performed at the cricket women's world championship in March 2020 (literally the weekend prior to Melb's first ever lockdown) and it was great entertainment since she just did the hits. Not fine art but fit the bill

Hahaha I just want to recreate the 2021 grand final in every respect!

Expected Score Ladder 2024
Well, at least both of these ladders make me feel happier about our current ladder position!

PREGAME: Rd 19 vs Fremantle
Appreciated Melksham saying in the post game interview that Choco had soaped up the balls at training to help our wet weather skills. I wonder if we've done this in previous seasons or if we finally decided to address our skill deficiency in this area after one too many embarrassing losses in the wet and/or humidity! Certainly being at the Opening Round game this season, it was disappointing how we seemed to have never met a slick ball. Glad it's becoming a strength now!

My 3 word player analysis V Essendon
Good summary Joeboy. But harsh re Chandler and AMW!

Food at the Footy
It's the obscuring the view that drives me nuts - I made half the group wait for Gawny to take his shot at goal during the Cats game. Bless our captain, he missed it of course. We were all rather silent as I allowed them to return to their seats haha Don't have this problem when with the Demon Army! Generally the obscuring means we're all waving madly after a goal π

Food at the Footy
From memory, it was looking worse for wear from being carried in on the train but y'all were brave enough to accept a mangled slice! You and @Lucifers Hero are very kind hearted. This is the enemy we're talking about haha

Food at the Footy
If I'm with family, we generally bring mandarins and a freshly baked cake. Occasionally I might relent and get some hot chips too. At the Cats game, one of the 20 year olds that seem to have endless money and time for the beer at the G but not watching the game exclaimed in the first quarter and asked for some of our apple tea cake. I said it was only for Dees supporters - but once we beat them and our song was playing, recanted and offered him a slice in pity!

Welcome to Demonland Koltyn Tholstrup
Don't they say strangers aren't really the danger, it's those we know? π

People's First Stadium
If you go on the Demon Army website closer to round 23, the ticketing details for the match will be posted. We normally sit behind the goal posts (at the end where there is no built up stands, but lots of sun). WCW will probs know more exact details!

2024 Training Times Thread
Alternatively, such a meal might ensure I'll stay in Melbourne for longer than planned... but definitely not achieve visiting the game π

Standard of Umpiring
Actually this is quite common in legal drafting. Where there is a list of things, the conjunction between the final two subparagraphs is taken to implicitly apply for the rest of the list. So taking the above example (but reformatting for readability), the rule is intended to read: A field Umpire may* award a Free Kick against a Player from the Defending Team where such Player: (a) intentionally Kicks, Handballs or forces the football over the Attacking Teamβs Goal Line or Behind Line or onto one of the Attacking Teamβs Goal Posts; AND (b) the Player: (i) is greater than nine metres from the Goal Line or Behind Line; OR (ii) is not under immediate physical pressure; OR (iii) has had time and space to dispose of the football; OR (iv) from a Ruck contest, hits the football over the Goal Line or Behind Line on the full. Essentially the umpire can award the free kick where the player taken an action in or around the other team's goal posts and that action falls within one of the categories of (i) to (iv). * the original word in the rules was shall - this is an example of bad drafting because shall is ambiguous. It can mean "must" or "will" (mandatory language in legal drafting) or "may" (discretionary language). Based on how footy is umpired atm, I'd say it's a rule applied at the umpire's discretion

2024 Training Times Thread
Dammit, I arrive in Melbourne on Tuesday night... It's a 30% chance I'll make the game, but I'm hoping to at least make the banner prep session with the Demon Army!

Congrats Ed Langdon
I think this is one of Langdon's better seasons. It seems he's finally recovered form after that knock to the ribs (which seemed to have created a psychological block).
