Contracted Tomlinson Looks to Move On?
No, I don't think we screw around with players' psyche like that. If he's been told he's required then that's what it is.

The 2023 Draft and Trade Targets Thread
Lever is missing as discussed and so is Langdon. Yes he had a below par year and needs to get back to his best but he's still in the best 22. You've got too many forwards - 9 if you're playing Petracca forward and counting Chol as fwd-ruck.

Stats Files - 2023
Looking at our combined finals score of 16.28 to 20.13, it's interesting to look at the overall season defensive accuracy, goals minus behinds, results. Only Collingwood (a stand-out -14), St.Kilda (-2) and GWS (-2) were able to force opponents into the red. Carlton was next best with (+4) https://finalsiren.com/AFLLadder.asp Our two opponents were in the top 4 for this measure. St.Kilda wasn't able to replicate this in their final where GWS kicked 15.11. But GWS were able to do it holding St.Kilda to 11.11 and then Port to 9.16 while kicking 13.15. Carlton held Sydney to 9.14 while kicking 11.8. In the other final so far both teams were in the black Brisbane 18.9 vs Port 11.9. There looks to be a trend for teams able to create inaccuracy. But it seemed like we had enough gettable chances in both matches so maybe it's a coincidence. The other data point that indicates it's meaningful is that 18th West Coast (+77) and 16th Hawthorn (+76) lead the way by a long margin in giving up goals instead of behinds. However North 17th (+48) bucks the trend by coming in somewhere midtable and better than Brisbane at (+49). But hell if it was universally the effective indicator I'd be a genius and we can close the thread ... but alas! BTW, we're on the good side of the mean at (+20).

Elite decision makers
How about some elite decision makers in F50? 16.28 in the two finals is not a midfield problem.

PREGAME: SF vs Carlton
Last week we had 6 marking talls - 4 forward: TMac, JVR, Smith and Fritsch and 2 back Lever and May. This week we still have 6 but it's more conventional 3 forward: TMac, Smith and Fritsch and 3 back Tomlinson, Lever and May. It will be very interesting to see who we go with as sub - last week it was another small in Laurie, wonder if we'll go bigger this week?

Coates Talent League 2023
Or alternatively ... He can win the ball, has a nice turn of pace, has good vision, lightning quick hands, can hit a target like Salem, a willing tackler. Probably a late 2nd or 3rd rounder.

Chair ban at AFLW (now overturned)
I was scheduled to have a hip replacement operation two weeks after I went to the AFL match at Alice Springs Melbourne vs GWS - I had booked the trip when the fixture came out in December before my hip broke and was determined to go. I bought a folding chair at Alice Springs K-Mart before the match to sit on with the intention of donating it to the locals post-match. I wasn't allowed to bring it into the venue. I was going to be forced to stand all match, in the freezing rain, until I insisted that it was unacceptable and the officials provided me with a plastic chair to sit on. We lost. But overall, despite the trials and tribulations, it was a very memorable and worthwhile experience.

Seriously? Who would you have had Grundy in for in the QF. As it turned out we lost a key mid in Brayshaw early and his replacement Laurie was unable to fill the breach. It would have been even worse if Grundy was the sub. And if he'd been in the 22 that would have further hindered our run - Max carried the ruck just fine. Grundy is a consideration this week for JVR. But would have hurt more than helped last week.

Maynard must get at least four weeks
I think Timmy said his dad and his uncle had been very busy because they to go around to Mr.Gleeson's place and show him how to light the fire in case it was needed. They had to stop at the petrol station on the way. Mr. Gleeson told them the fire wouldn't be needed.

I have a bequest of $5,000,000 ready for them to collect if they only provide their bank details and login ...

Maynard must get at least four weeks
I've been following football for over 60 years, Tony. I can't ever recall a "smother" where this has happened, can anyone else? 60 seasons, more than 10,000 matches, more than 1 million minutes of football. It really is a freak accident or something else ...

Agree Sue, that is ample time. A cricket fast bowler can bowl at 150km/hr that's more than 40m/sec. The cricket pitch is half that long so the ball travels the distance in less than half a second and expert athletes are able to play the ball. Even most tail enders can.

Stuff drafting a kid, poach a key forward.
Agree and we need extra class at ground level. Reid would be great but it might need to be Watson with our picks.

Ruck roulette
Max said himself on Gus and Gawny that he won't make 250 games. There's an understudy role there but not for a 29yo like Grundy.
