I wont pretend to know u18 football but nevertheless I'm on board the Parish and H.McKay double for posterity.

Coach should not be involved in recruiting except in the broadest terms. Coach that is being phased out shouldnt be involved at all.

I donn't think Roos has got anything to do with it in any way. I be alarmed if he did.

Could have State of Origin from the remaining 10 teams - could still be some decent line-ups.

I wonder if he can model himself on Nev Jetta and work towards for the lock-down small defender role? I'm concerned about Nev's repeated concussion events and think there's a need for a succession plan there. Nev doesn't have great pace but does have tremendous agility.

As as been said by others - making judgement on highlights reel is not sound. And that video in particular has so little game action in it, it's ridiculous to draw any conclusions.

Yes this is very close to mine - splitting hairs but Grimes probably doesn't make my 22, I'd prefer another midfield runner maybe ANB or Stretch. We need Fwd-Ruck and TMac has to be the first candidate. That puts Frost as first replacement candidate as KPB. Lumumba needs to really show something this year as 7th back, in there with Salem and Melksham. No Dawes or Pedersen because they aren't long term 2nd ruck solutions. Watts and Petracca in the toughest job in footy - negate attacking half-back, get to position in the defensive structure and at stoppages all around the ground, run back and be a marking threat and goal kicker in the forward line. I really hope Trengove can get back because he could play this role very well, but unfortunately I have my doubts about his foot. Petracca has a decent beep but will take time to build sufficient endurance. I'd consider a year for James Kelly in this role if we think Trengove is unlikely to make it.

I worry that I left the iron on, but then I remember I don't do the ironing. Cue Benny Hill theme.

The first point isnt a problem, we have to make a choice between players at 3 and then the next bid is at pick 4. This is logical. Thec2nd point is a not an issue either, its analogous to how our picks 46 + 50 will move forward in value.

I think it's fair to assume that GCS don't see a standout at 3 like we do - otherwise they probably wouldn't make that trade. I can only assume that GCS rate (at least) 4 players roughly equal at 3-6 OR they have someone in mind that they believe no-one else has and therefore don't think they are significantly disadvantaged by the downgrade.

I'll be very surprised, if as you are predicting, we bid on Kennedy (GWS), I don't think Carlton will either - gotta be a sweetheart part of the pick trades we both made with GWS. I don't think GCS will bid on him either - it just creates bad karma for them with GWS in similar future situations. GWS has to be praying that Essendon doesn't bid on Hopper or Kennedy and then 10 is a live pick.

Yeah it's an undesirable side effect (that we have really taken advantage of). The primary aim is achieved, Academy clubs have still had to pay with higher draft picks. It's hard to think of a better solution.

I can hear Craig Willis now on Saturday 24 September 2016: "Number 48, Jaaaack Fitzpatrick"

Highly rated pair among possible academy picks http://www.bigfooty.com/forum/threads/didymus-blanket.871449/ Because there just has to be one!

http://www.afl.com.au/news/2015-10-22/indicative-draft-order-your-clubs-provisional-picks-as-trade-period-unfolds I think our picks 46 and 50 will come forward quite a few slots by the time the Swans, Giants and Lions burn picks for Academy players - yes 5 new picks get inserted but more picks get consumed - all those picks between 33 and 44 will get swallowed up except the Freo pick - that's 11 picks - we might effectively sneak back into the end of the 2nd round http://www.afl.com.au/news/2015-09-30/highlyrated-pair-nominated-as-academy-picks-for-draft http://www.afl.com.au/staticfile/AFL%20Tenant/AFL/Files/biddingsystemfeedback.pdf PS. Gotta pray GCS takes Didymus Blanket !!!

I expect we won't bid for GWS academy players with 3 or 7, that's gotta be part of the deal.
-
Trade action at least. I see something like: 2016 1st - 3 6 - 7 25 - Melksham Toumpas - Kennedy Howe - Bugg Pretty good but I'd hold off the champagne
-
You're batting 0.500 very early call on Neeld Dangerfield outfield catch last year
-
Maybe fishing will be off the 2016 agenda with no 1st rounder.
-
Why doesn't that useless p*ick Mahoney do something? Am I doing it right?
-
Missed it by that || much!

GC needs players, not more picks this year. But I wonder if they'd play 2016 ladder roulette with us and trade 3 + their 2016 1st for 6 + our 2016 1st? Then we can give that 1st rounder back to them next year in the Prestia trade : )

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - TOMAS BUGG
old55 replied to whatwhat say what's topic in Melbourne Demons
I think as it stands we've got 8 off and 2 on (Melksham and Kennedy) and that leaves 6 primary list spots, with 2 likely rookie upgrades. So that currently means we need 4 live picks or 3 if we trade for Bugg. It's hard to keep track of the exact numbers because of the FA pick awards but it's something like: 6, 29, 46, 50, 64 (Vandenberg), 82 (Harmes) -
Yeah as HT says we started with 25, and when did 43 become 46 - I must've missed that (not that it really matters - probably get the same player at either)
-
Kennedy for Toumpas and Howe for Melksham. Sounds about right.
