Had to look at my keyboard to find out how many goals that is.

When Jetta’s kicking goals for us, you know we’re pushing up from defence. Also: holy crap, we’re in front!
-
Must be 2018 already. I have hope again!
-
Weiderman reminds me of a young Matthew Pavlich. He’s extremely raw but he has a lot of potential.
-
Welp. See you all in 2018...
-
I’ve never been less nervous. I have absolutely no expectations that we’ll win, though I’m sure that will change as soon as they’re out there and competing.
-
And what does it mean when a team is overly concerned about what’s going on in another side’s paddock?

Just imagine if he had hair. Whew…!

The fact that we’re playing St. Kilda in the first round coming off a great preseason (rather than the week after an arduous trek to the Northern Territory) probably bodes well for us. St. Kilda by 5 goals.

JLT Round 4, Thursday 9th March - West Coast at Subiaco
Chook replied to McQueen's topic in Melbourne Demons
We’re doing good things, but we’re just not quite there yet with our finishing skills. -
50 / 18 = 3 or so. Each club should have about 3 players in the top 50. So us having four is good, I suppose. It means we’re rated as better than average. That’s something I guess.

I wonder if each year’s actual final eight generally reflects those off-the-cuff predictions or if this “risk-free” formula is just complete convention with no historical grounding.

He grew up in Port Adelaide heartland so I think he’s just being loyal.

I agree with you on Lloyd (even though he has the personality of a doorknob). I also think Jason Dunstall is alright. Huddo also makes sense on the rare occasions when he gets off the fence to make an opinion. I mostly ignore all of them though.

That gives Tom Hawkins a run for his money in the “worst ever sportingwear” stakes:

I don’t know what you blokes want. He’s been dropped; obviously he has things to work on. To say he’s been “disappointing” is a subjective statement that depends entirely upon how high you hoped he’d go. To say otherwise is to say your opinion is objective fact. Sorry to break it to you, but it’s not.

Throughout his career, Jack Watts has averaged per game*: 6 marks, which places him 50th as compared to the 2016 average marks-per-game by player** 1 goal (top 100***) 2 tackles per game (way out of the top 100, and I’m betting it’s one of Simon Goodwin’s major reasons for dropping him) 16 possessions (not playing as a midfielder, mind you). Those last two stats aren’t great, I’ll admit; but they’re solid. That’s what Jack Watts has been: solid. If that’s disappointing for you, then you need to work that out in your own brain. No one else can resolve that disappointment for you. * http://www.footywire.com/afl/footy/pc-melbourne-demons--jack-watts ** http://www.footywire.com/afl/footy/ft_player_rankings?year=2016&rt=LA&st=MA *** http://www.footywire.com/afl/footy/ft_player_rankings?year=2016&rt=LA&st=GO

No. Your disappointment is based on output as compared to your far-fetched hopes. That you can’t see it is your fault, not Jack’s.
-
Your disappointment is obviously just a product of your far-fetched hopes. That’s on you, not on Jack Watts.
-
Agreed. I wonder what Paul Roos would say about this situation as an outsider with experience inside our club managing Watts. Roos was able to get more out of Watts than anyone else has.
-
Personally I’d like to see him actually play a practice match this year before deciding whether he’ll play round 1. That’s sort of why they play practice matches I thought.
-
I don’t see what everyone’s complaining about. The last time I went to Casey, they hadn’t invented money there yet. I had to barter with livestock.
-
For me, 2004 put paid to that idea forever. Top of the ladder after R18, lose 4 on the trot, slip to 5th, lose to Essendon in the first week of Finals.

Wonky last 10 minutes but great win overall. Hope those injuries aren’t too bad.

I like demons. I don't give a crap about scorpions.
