  1. Unless someone has a young star mid to give us, he stays.
  2. I don't have the latest CBA as they haven't released it publicly but the old CBA had a very narrow Termination intepretation with base contracts: Added to this is the fact that the AFLPA fought for, and got, a 'Career Ending Injury Bonus' should injury lead to a player not being able to carry on. It is 50% (150% or 200% depending on Age of the player) of that players final year. http://www.aflpa.com.au/our_services/player_relations_and_advocacy/collective_bargaining_agreement/ This would mean that with Clark on a 4 year $3.2m contract we would have a hole in 2014 of $800k and $1.2m in 2015 that might be $2m. There is no mention in the exceptions to the Total Player Payments pertainig to terminated players or injury terminations: There is very little scope for us to get anything out of moving Clark on. Unless he comes to us and says - I want to take photos of the city full time - we will honour our contracts and work our arses off to get him right.
  3. So you are basing this assertion on one game that you saw live?
  4. Good to hear! And 2 years is fine, as 3 years would be lambasted and four seen as irresponsible. Oddly a 5 year contract would come back around and illustrate a great show of faith. This is straight from the 'Fans Do Contracts: A How To' book...
  5. Well at least we can be thankful to BB for taking the argument to its illogical conclusion: if the only positive we would get out of cutting Clark is a spot on the list and the negatives are a $800k hole in the salary cap, terrible team harmony, and a lack of faith so large it would be an ironic juxtaposition to the leap of faith shown by the player in question - I guess there is only one option... See you next year Mitch.
  6. As Nasher alluded to - our 'Most Important Player' hasn't played a game of AFL yet. It says alot about where we are, but it also, hopefully, says a great deal about where we can get to in a few years time.
  7. As someone who knows how to patronise people - you have to earn it. In no way has what we have seen since Neeld left been anything other than a moderate to massive improvement. From the scoreboard, to the I50 counts, to the increased numbers of uncontested possessions. It may simply be the short term effects of a caretaker coach but I will give credit to something I didn't think would happen: Craig has improved our onfield fortunes.
  8. I always find it funny watching people fall over themselves to be 'the one' demanding more than others. Being around a club, you see it every now and then. We are bad, and we all want to be good. But you know what comes in between those two realities? Gradual improvement. Couldn't care less if you don't see it when it happens, but just know that you are dismissing progress and dismissing reality. Former means you're a jerk, and the latter means you're psychotic. I will leave it up to the individual which is worse.
  9. I believe the increase in inside 50s is due to the amazing change in our uncontested possessions since Craig took over. The improvement is marked, but again, I think the ceiling we are seeing is our skills and decision making, and they are tough to improve full stop, but tougher during he season when all you care about is play, recovery, and preparation. Hopefully the next head coach can take a few limited footballers and get more out of them.
  10. Why does anything take the time it does to happen? What is reality hiding? It's better late than never, but it's better you never be late...
  11. Well, at least, you have learnt something... Cognitive dissonance.
  12. He reminds me of a softer Simon Godfrey. But Godfrey got 100 games out of himself because he knew his limitations and played accordingly. Nicholson manages to look up see an option that only 5 blokes in the team can hit - an option he always misses - and say to himself 'yeah, I can hit that.'
  13. I just think that if we use your standards applied to prospective board members - we will have few people to pick from.
  14. Do you have particular bones to pick with him? Or is any Demon involved with the club in the past a failure?
  15. But we will be polite about it, take Kelleher, and thank you to stay in the fold. Some of you burn so easily. At this point, he has done nothing more than give some deflating (in more ways than one) comments to a reporter about his efforts to be involved in the club. Let's not keelhaul him just yet.
  16. I rarely thought when reading the 'outs' over the last year and a half - 'oh, he didn't deserve to be dropped'...
  17. I don't see anyone on here as an enemy. That's being a bit rich. And perhaps I could turn the sentiment around and say that posters declaring players are finished without any facts are not doing the right thing by their fellow Dees supporters?
  18. As Jarka said, Stockdale makes a good point about corporate governance. It's is a very odd thing to have a CEO installing those to which he answers to but, it isn't that simple is it? Jackson is an AFL paratrooper that knows what the AFL see as what makes a good board. Redleg - I hope this is the only aspect to Stockdale's issues and that the 'refusal to become Vice Prez' is just extrapolation of what has actually happened. We need unity, and we don't need the Jackson and Bartlett ticket being blasted in public by Stockdale and Kelleher ticket.
  19. I hope Redleg is justing reading a hell of a lot into the reports, not all of which may be true. But one thing I do not like is the threat of an alternative ticket. One ticket. One MFC.
  20. That's very polite of him. Especially with him being out of state and playing for a different team.
  21. Would it? Instead of throwing talented individuals at a problem and finding roles for them later, we should define the role and attempt to get the people that suit that role the best.
  22. Roos was never going to start 'ASAP'. What precedent in the AFL is there for a midseason appointment of a new coach, after the interim coach has been installed, and after the original coach has been sacked? A new coach needs a Pre Season to get anything accomplished in terms of how a team plays and getting better personnel. They would be voiding their 'fresh start' if they took over in the middle of a horrible season. I think Jackson asked Craig to be caretaker, gave no promises and little talk of 2014.
  23. Drawing a long bow there... I want Demons in charge and he is one, let's see what happens. I hope there are no tickets and that we get a very good board with the support of all influential Demons that are putting their hand up.
