  1. Had a family issue and went home - it happens. It hurt, but it happens.
  2. Jamar was not going to get anything last year, he was an UFA who surprisingly to everyone re-signed midseason. He is now worth very little and will not get you the left leg of any promising mid out there. Jamar's future value to this club may be in making Gawn and Spencer better than they otherwise would be without the presence of a very good tap ruckman.
  3. I would take him in a heartbeat.
  4. Because midfield. The midfield is midfield midfield. Midfield.
  5. No. It is good to know he was a Foundation Hero and a member for a few years, the idea of picking up non-Demons for the Board is abhorrent to me.
  6. They do that every week from the looks of it.
  7. lol I think you are reading far too much into everything. He is passionate and excited about taking a job because he refuses to say a definitive no to enquiries and is nicer about our awful list than used to be?
  8. All this excitement over Fitzpatrick's last 2 games has seen some people attempt to bend reason and fit all these forwards into this hypothetical future team...
  9. Great that he showing signs. We have plenty of 193cm+ tall forwards. We even have a couple of guys who can play forward and ruck a bit. The MFC needs midfielders. That's the crux of it.
  10. People at the club have to ratify the decision to hire Roos - this is what this committee will do if Roos decides he can slum it for a few years in such an awful city... And what crazy ramblings are the bolded? The MCC will control people and no Demons should be involved in hiring the Coach of the Demons?
  11. What the hell is your problem, Still Waiting? He is the Interim Head of the FD. To not include him would be aslap in the face of the original decision by JACKSON HIMSELF to put Mahoney in that position. I doubt he will stay in his current position in 2014 but don't diminish the guy for doing what he is asked to do. Same with Garry Lyon. He told the club he didn't want to be involved. Harbour ill-feeling if you wish but he was asked by those at the club to help, those at the club ratified the decisions that were made, and those at the club are now gone. Get over it.
  12. ClarkKent - That is an interesting game plan. Adams for Pick 19 and Tapscott is ok, assuming they both want to move. Bell for 36 is tougher to swallow. I have a rule that there is 40-50 kids worth picking every year as they can bring something straight away that is AFL standard. I would be very reticent to spend that on a journey man not long removed from the VFL. Cross would be a good move if he is keen. I think the careers of a couple of boys may hinge on our success in FA and whether we get any draft assistance.
  13. I assume that would be the FA compo. Goddard got a first round pick. I reckon Sylvia would net a second rounder.
  14. I am just saying that forward planning is important when it comes to list management and getting rid of every player you think is a 'clogger' is poor planning for the next year when you still have to clear players. Sorry to 'pivot' on it...
  15. Are you asking me if you are lost? If you are... then yes, you are lost.
  16. I think; as in a winnning record.
  17. I am not saying that we delist him. Options I would explore include moving a tall for a mid. It's hardly revolutionary.
  18. I can see how many playing think that banking on Clark coming back is foolhardy. I see 'banking' on Fitzpatrick to continue his development as the same. I think there is a great deal of 'banking' going on in this thread.
  19. Sat - you are going to get one hell of a surprise when the list gets turned over again at the end of the year. Not all of our players are very good. In fact, few of them are. And McQueen was saying "Terlich is greater than Yarran" not whatever you thought he said. The symbol ">" means "greater than."
  20. It's quite funny how some on here are implying: "He wouldn't come to us. We are a basket case!" And others implying: "He will come to us. We are THE basket case!" Incongruous? ...maybe. Stupid? ...maybe. Melbourne? ...priceless.
  21. I never called it fact. I am telling you that when teenagers get picked up they get an automatic 2 year contract. And what that means is that if you have 10 list 'cloggers' and you replace them all in one go through the draft with teenagers then you will not be able to move them the following year. It removes flexibility. Whereas, if you did choose to keep someone on your list for one year more over Teenage Pick 85 - you can delist that player a year later.
  22. What is the definition of 'attacked'? I condemn it wholeheartedly. What if we actually did trade Dawes: a respected leader of the playing group gets moved a year after we poached him. He delivers much needed onfield leadership, strength in the forward line, and attack on the ball and man, and we trade him in the hope that Fitzpatrick continues his relatively modest rise in form when compared to, let's say, Dawes, and the hope that Watts can continue to produce and lift his attack on the ball to a level of, let's say, Dawes. You say he is distinctly average. I say he is a 25 year old FF who initiates contact, kicks straight, leads well, and will provide protection for The Best Talent the MFC Has Seen In A While from 2014 onwards. There is nothing average about Dawes at the MFC.
  23. I have no problem with posters thinking about list management and selling on players when their value is high and their worth is not high. Who here thinks Fitzpatrick is best 22 when Clark, Watts, Hogan, Dawes, and Gawn are fit? What are you talking about? I am not fretting that players will leave, I am not worried about the health of players, this is not The Syndrome... I want our club to be as ruthless as you said Jackson would not be earlier in the year. We have the makings of a terrific forward line, but I will not sit on that and allow this opportunity to pass: we need a midfield to go with our forward line and excellent backline. Try and diagnose me if you will. Just get it right. I am not a worrier. I am a sympathetic, ruthless pr*ck.
