  1. The point is that diabetes is bad. And we shouldn't...recruit...diabetes... I feel like we hopped off the train to Pointsville.
  2. As PSD said, they will not be able to make certain of Boyd with ND2. I would still do a trade like this with something coming back our way. Thompson for ND60 or something like that.
  3. The issue is diabetes. If all we have is icing and no cake then we will get diabetes.
  4. If you want to talk politics go to the general board. Don't start it here.
  5. Yeah, I overlooked him. He should get his second rookie year. So should Stark as he has been so often injured this season.
  6. So you are saying that the club is drowning because Watts and Sylvia might leave because we don't have a coach yet? Who else might we lose this summer? Those out of contract: Davey (RFA), Taggert, Tynan, Fitzpatrick, Nicholson, MacDonald, Sellar, Jetta, Davis, Couch ®, Magner ®, Rodan, Gillies, Clisby ®, Stark ® I mean, we are hardly about to be torn apart because we are waiting a few weeks to get a coach in. The only talent we must keep from that list is Watts, Syvia, and Fitz. And I would be close to trading all three next summer if they were re-signed and a few other things went right like Clark coming back and a few things went wrong like Sylvia's career staying on its current trajectory.
  7. Why are you personalising the question of whether Yarran can pull his finger out, stmj?
  8. Would that be why it is called 'behind the scenes'? And the club is getting on with life. They are doing their search and they are doing their list management - players are being reviewed and told of their future right now. Two weeks ago Couch and MacDonald were told and I am sure others will be informed of their futures before the coach is even installed.
  9. Ok, then. No team would think that Mackay and Douglas is worth ND2.
  10. I know you are just 'spitballing' but that is a highly annoying practice when you are on the other end... In no way is Douglas and McKay worth ND2.
  11. Firstly, the power of WADA and ASADA stops at the water's edge. They can only will sports to follow their recommendations. Secondly, the players can wait, but Essendon's fate has to be decided before the finals.
  12. I would be exploring these trades without a coach. You don't (or can't) pull the trigger just yet but this is what we should be doing. We have some assets and we need to get solid, hard working mids. These are discussions I would be having with clubs.
  13. I don't know about Davey, but list management decisions are being made as early as two weeks ago. You can't leave these sort of things until October - players are humans that need to treated with dignity and respect and the club has to plan for the off-season - with or without a coach, a FD head, assistant coaches, et al.
  14. I loved Robbo. My point was though that Howe's ceiling is higher than that if he wants to get there. But, and some of you will disagree, he has to get out of the way of Clark, Dawes, and Hogan and go through the middle and be a damaging high half forward that hits the man, the scoreboard, and the three previously mentioned players in a forward line that doesn't need a 190cm FF.
  15. I misread the bit at the end about the Greenwood 'mids' - I assumed you meant all fringe mids would be more average mids.
  16. I would love to see what a good coach could do with Howe. But in the end it's Howe who has to get there. I still want Ryan O'Keefe. I have no desire for another Robertson, as fun as he could be at times.
  17. Viney is "the new list chief?" Didn't see that appointment on the website...
  18. Yeah, we think about it. The reason clubs have a pro-scout looking at other clubs is to find the player on the fringes that might be able to be obtained and developed into something useful. Much like your desire to develop something useful from the mids we already have. I agree that our improvement will largely come from what we have, but there is little harm in looking at fringe young players at other clubs to fill roles with late picks, free agency or the rookie draft. We got Terlich, Matt Jones, and Clisby from a tier below and they look to have cemented certain roles within the team.
  19. I wish it were as easy as removing Royal... The funny thing about scapegoats is that rarely does their dismissal result in a change of fortune, just a change of target for the blame.
  20. http://demonland.com/forums/index.php?/topic/33432-melbourne-football-club-should-take-a-leaf-out-of-richmonds-book/page-2?hl=richmond No offence, dd36 but you lost people with the title ("Melbourne should take a leaf out of Richmonds book") and then your OP finished on a tangent that many couldn't get past - the idea that we could have got something decent for the chaff we have recruited and discarded. I really think if you had a more precise title and stuck to your point - it would be well appreciated.
