  1. You make a fine point. The improvement would be 300%. I apologise.
  2. If he becomes a soft-winger type outside player Yze imitation... I will take that.
  3. Jones played every game of a AFL season. He would have had a few niggles to say the least. I think you are making some laughable judgements on players, which is your right to do.
  4. I am excited too, stmj. I agree about his physicality, I also think that people can develop that area of their game. And he has the size to back it up. And he doesn't have to be the go-to clearance player in there, far from it; Jones, Viney, Tyson and Trengove will be the focus in there. His value will be his ability to push hard and find the footy and deliver facing our forward line. Oh, and Hogan might be chance to rotate through the middle too...
  5. This is the kind of thing I would be cautioning against; do we know whether they were lazy over October, or were they unable to do some work - if they are indeed 'thoroughly unfit?'
  6. No doubt that those with headstarts and those that have kept their fitness are important. My point was more that some players have surgeries in the off-season, some cannot work, this is when the hard work begins for a great number of the players, and I notice that there was a large 'injured' group today. They will have time to get their 'fitness points'...
  7. I really hope Roos/Stone makes something of Howe as a mid... (sigh)
  8. I don't know, but there are 17 teams that would easily take the ball out of that forward line as it is so top heavy.
  9. ^^^^ lol Boys, it is from this point forward that they improve their fitness. No-one has a 'big October' on the track. It's usually a big October AT the track. Updates on fitness levels on THE FIRST DAY of Pre Season will not produce much insight into 2014.
  10. I don't know Crouch, but getting the ball 30 times and screwing it up royally 6 times a game is a lot more valuable than having a pristine 15 possession game. I know it depends on where you are getting your kicks but, on a base level, if you can find the footy a lot - you are working hard and you are a good footy player.
  11. That's what I meant. 'Afford' from a list manangement POV.
  12. Isn't the Summer time for optimism? Both Paul Roos and rpfc think Watts might just be a damaging midfielder/HFF. Just hope we are right.
  13. This would purely be a "let's screw Carlton" move. He is a bloke who was told by his club that they can only afford to keep him as a Rookie. Some thought he would be cut outright. Just let it go.
  14. He went to Caulfield Grammar. An APS school.
  15. Not picking players because they may go home is pathetic nonsense. No offence, deeman, but kids are idiots who don't know what they want. I will back Roos and co. to provide an environment that keeps Hogan (WA), Toumpas (SA), Viney (Krypton) et al at the club.
  16. I was being facetious; Royal was given the keys to a car without an engine. Prendergast was one of those charged with providing an engine. His failure can still be noted, even if we should move on from it already.
  17. No doubt, BB. But we have to do it first, but we also have to get sponsors before the season starts, which means that we have to play respectable footy before we start playing - and that is very hard to do...
  18. Before it even comes to that good Dr, the AFL has to have the desire and NT the market. It's like these idiots running around saying Tassie will get us. There is no market to capture; it is already AFL-oriented, the commercial opportunities are limited, and the AFL is a little pre-occupied - in both attention and money - with their investment in GWS and GC. Both of which should get a team before markets that cannot support a team gets one - like NT, Tasmania, and ACT.
  19. I would say he is more 'cut' at the perception that Adelaide put forward that he left, rather than being pushed. He seemed pretty happy to be a Demon, and probably more importantly, that he is wanted and his presence required.
  20. Of course he is, who wouldn't be? But he is saying, or spinning, that percentage is a good indicator - as it is. So is quarters won. And it's not insight, and nor is wanting to be 'competitive' weakness. It's all just talk.
  21. How can I miss the point? It's my point... Not every midfielder has to to win as much contested footy as the next. Some hurt teams with their spread and hard running. Watts can be a very good outside midfielder and very damaging with the footy. If you don't think that - that is your right.
