There is a difference between set shots and field kicking. And Howe's importance diminishes if he can't play up the ground because it will soon be Hogan's Forwardline in a couple years. And Clark needs a crumber not a high flyer in the meantime. Howe needs to work hard and contribute in the middle.

He gets a pass. Hogan should be a HFF who goes in the middle a bit in his first few seasons. His tank is enormous and so is the rest of him.

Call me conservative but I don't think we can pick up Cross, a couple of kids, and immediately throw Matt Jones, McKenzie, and Grimes out of the midfield. People trot out all the excuses under the sun for the players they have a soft spot for and surgically dismiss players they think the reverse of. I am glad there is more young talent at the club, and more competition for midfield spots, but it is just that at the moment. We still only have kids, journeymen, NQRs, and Jones in our midfield.

How is Cross 'no longer required'? We picked up a replacement for Sylvia and two kids with 14 games experience. Cross would be more than handy, and he would be cheap.

Throwing $200 bucks away. All we have is Roos and Vince as a replacement for Sylvia. The decision to get 2 for 1 with ND2 is a medium term decision considering we got a 20 year old with injury issues to get on top of. Michie has played one game of AFL and I am sure will need time to adjust to this level before providing the kind of footy some on here think is possible. Our improvement will come from who we have getting healthy. Trengove, Clark, Dawes, and Frawley. I don't think it is enough for the top 12 let alone the 8.

I think it is just bad maths. I will investigate but Band 2 should be Pick 20 for Dal Santo.
