  1. There is a difference between set shots and field kicking. And Howe's importance diminishes if he can't play up the ground because it will soon be Hogan's Forwardline in a couple years. And Clark needs a crumber not a high flyer in the meantime. Howe needs to work hard and contribute in the middle.
  2. He gets a pass. Hogan should be a HFF who goes in the middle a bit in his first few seasons. His tank is enormous and so is the rest of him.
  3. Call me conservative but I don't think we can pick up Cross, a couple of kids, and immediately throw Matt Jones, McKenzie, and Grimes out of the midfield. People trot out all the excuses under the sun for the players they have a soft spot for and surgically dismiss players they think the reverse of. I am glad there is more young talent at the club, and more competition for midfield spots, but it is just that at the moment. We still only have kids, journeymen, NQRs, and Jones in our midfield.
  4. You need a break from whatever it is you do. It must be stressful.
  5. Bb - you lost. Diminish into the abyss gracefully. You can jump into some semantical cocoon of your own making but we see it, hell we can feel it over the intertubes. It's over.
  6. Oh yeah, they showed those witches hats who was the King of Old Melbourne Town didn't they? Torched them so much they melted tips! Burn. Literally, the plastic was burning. The smell was terrible. Evacuations. It was a big deal.
  7. http://m.heraldsun.com.au/sport/afl/paul-roos-has-started-work-at-melbourne/story-fni5f91a-1226715517572 Never underestimate rpfc. He remembers things...
  8. Dawes will ease Hogan's entry to AFL. I would play him and make him do the bullocking work. Protect the investment (and capitalise on him) a little hey?

  10. Nobody meets Jesse Hogan. Not really...
  11. Living up to your name with the above. A sure way to ruin whatever momentum we have would be to trade Dawes, Frawley, or Clark. We have got enough kids.
  12. Matt jones gets a pass mark surely? Are we grading on the curve in here? We pay on the curve...
  13. We got another two talented mid kids with a third to come in November. I don't think it helps next year as much as it is really promising three years from now. Jones, Vince, Viney, Trengove, Grimes, Jones, Tyson, Michie, Toumpas, Pick 9, and Evans are the 'talents' that will drive our improvement and most are kids and/or unproven. How quickly do they come on? Couple years I think...
  14. He will play games. I mean, we got net 2 more midfielders, both with less experience than Evans... Better pedigrees though.
  15. Lol Lovetts were not brothers. Febeys. Cockatoo-Collins. James and Anthony McD as you say. We got the dud Gaspar brother that I watched as a 10 year old kick out from fullback, stub his toe, and broke his foot in a reserves game. The few thousand people early for the game would have made quite the face palm meme as we held our heads in unison. Don't really care about drafting brothers tbh, I just like telling that story...
  16. Quantum shifts can only move so much so quickly. Glaciers move mountains and make valleys but very slowly. We are just terrible, and we got players I address this in the medium term, not 2014. Roos as a coach will a great deal, but lifting us 6 positions is as far as I can see, and that is quite an improvement I think. I actually think I am being positive when I say 12th or 11th is possible...
  17. Doesn't he actually start getting paid in November? I don't think he is actually coach yet...
  18. How is Cross 'no longer required'? We picked up a replacement for Sylvia and two kids with 14 games experience. Cross would be more than handy, and he would be cheap.
  19. Throwing $200 bucks away. All we have is Roos and Vince as a replacement for Sylvia. The decision to get 2 for 1 with ND2 is a medium term decision considering we got a 20 year old with injury issues to get on top of. Michie has played one game of AFL and I am sure will need time to adjust to this level before providing the kind of footy some on here think is possible. Our improvement will come from who we have getting healthy. Trengove, Clark, Dawes, and Frawley. I don't think it is enough for the top 12 let alone the 8.
  20. That would confuse it. Just worry about the club that lost the player, it did for us and the Saints. Swings and roundabouts. We will be less unattractive when we are not so crap. FA or not - that is why we can't get big names. 'But rpfc, Roos!' Yeah, yeah, but everyone thinks he is pushing an elephant uphill, and they don't want to be apart of the elephant for the three years it will take to reach the top of that hill.
  21. Updated. Busy day... In laymans: there are 4 spots open right now, with ND9, ND40, and ND58 to come onto the list. DFAs and PSD2 might put pressure on Jetta, Nicho, and Taggert who are still OOC. Clisby also might not get on the Primary List in 2014.
  22. It's an error in the article. They got the same as us - Band 3. Pick 25.
  23. I think it is just bad maths. I will investigate but Band 2 should be Pick 20 for Dal Santo.
  24. So it's not the end of the world? Maybe it's lying in wait...
