  1. Different player to Vince, and I am sure that ND6 can be involved in a deal but we would want more than Hartlett. I am not getting excited until it becomes more than a rumour that they will move him on. I would try to do: Hartlett and ND10 for ND6 and ND25. But, yeah, we can't be choosers... Hartlett and ND30 for ND6.
  2. That's a bit steep. What about moving back 5 spots for Hartlett?
  3. The average salary is about $265k-275k. The numbers for last season were published by the Hun earlier in the year.
  4. 'Maybe there are intangibles'? They are pretty, bloody tangible - I just watched the AFL Canberra Finals today and every grade it was the team that had the most blokes committed in the most contests that won the games. Look at the Prelims next week - those will be on another plane of existence to where our team is at - those teams are full of players that love the contest and thrive when the footy is at its hardest. Our list hasn't been defined by that for my 20 years of closely watching the Demons. Viney, Brayshaw, Hogan, et al will hopefully bring us to that higher plane - and it won't be their skills and talent - it will be their hardness in the contest and commitment to the footy.
  5. Speaking of hand wringing, does anyone remember how that Frost, 40, and 55 (or whatever the numbers were) for 23 was seen on here? It was scandalous that trade - then it wasn't, and now it is an example of what a 2nd round pick should be able to bring consistently...
  6. If Adelaide matches, the PFA is going to have a fit... Geelong's first round pick will be around ND9 so that might be the 'compromise'... Geelong isn't going to give two first rounders when they could have had him for nothing... They will kick up a stink. It will be wonderful - I hope Adelaide matches...
  7. Seriously? CB is trying to say that the stuff that cannot be taught is the intrinsic aspects to the best footballers - hardness and desire for the contest, and to want to relentlessly compete for the footy.
  8. He gets games at least. Happy for him to be kept as depth and moved on next year. Terlich did not play a minute of AFL. He should be paid out and moved on.
  9. Your maths... 6 deletions from the PL. If you lose 6 apples and gain 2 apples, how many apples will you go and get from the cart to end up with the same amount of apples? 4 more apples! Plus at least 2 rookie apples...
  10. What can the Cats give that will be more than ND13?
  11. This is what was promised - this is what he experienced with Longmire and got the MFC to emulate. To abandon the plan now doesn't seem sensible nor something that Jackson would entertain. Goodwin gets to own a bit more and Roos will pick up the flack still. What a great introduction to 2017 and his first year as head coach of the MFC.
  12. Wait, so Jimmy Toumpas getting another contract is rotten? Lil Jimmy Toumpas? You might end up being right that Goodwin, Melksham, and Toumpas are bad decisions, but they are just that.
  13. He's got a contract till 2017. He will be upgraded at the end of the coming ND.
  14. Surely, Terlich will be not far behind - maybe we are offering a RL spot... I would just delist and pay out - life is brutal, this is just footy...
  15. Updated. 5 spots available with 6 players OOC on the PL.
  16. As far as the MFC is concerned - exit interviews are done and preparation for 2016 has begun. Roos' last year, and the year of transition to Goodwin. No need to read in between the lines, simply read the lines...
  17. Wouldn't the last year before being put in charge be a good time for the responsibilities to be eased onto the successor?
  18. I would be very surprised if they were thinking of including 'valuable yet expendable assets' in a trade for Melksham. 'Valuable yet expendable assets' this summer would include: ND6, Watts, Howe, and ND27. Toumpas' value would be very low - he simply hasn't looked comfortable in the AFL outside of a few games. I would re-sign him as he would have little value to salvage in a trade - salvaging something out of his career would be more valuable than ND60 or a deep rotation mid like Melksham.
  19. I would prefer the player that can play the role asked of him the best and help us win - whoever that may be.
  20. With him not rocking up to their B+F - you would have to say he is done. Depending on price, he might be a goer...
  21. Jeez, you got there pretty quick, sloonie... A year out from being solely in charge and the club is broken as evidenced by his signing as coach. And all because of Jakey Melksham...
  22. How else would you expect a smooth handover to function? The bleeding of responsibilities to the successor was inevitable.
