You may have the same light hearted position when you attached photos of a teenager playing in the women's game but you would have to see where the uneasiness is coming from?

It was some boring discussion about where Trengove would have been taken the year before we drafted him... You just wasted my time. -

If anyone needs to know what KOTD stands for, do a search on here for it - that was a fun thread! Can't quite recall to what it referred to though... -
Well, my criticism of the "retirement" has been effectively deflated. Keep good footy heads around the club is always great. Good luck on his new career!

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - TOMAS BUGG

Don't let it bugg you... -
Watts, ha, is not a mid, if he plays consistently in 2016 it will be from a high HF with ventures onto a wing. 2 of the other 5 are kids and Trengove is a walking question mark. I think size is important but can be overcome - look at Viney, he is 6'2 when the ball is in dispute...
-
Interesting...

Role players are pretty much everyone outside the midfield with a few exceptions in the midfield like a tagger. Hogan is a role player - he is also a transcendent talent - but he plays an important role on the ground, if he started chasing kicks on a wing or behind the footy we wouldn't appreciate it, it is the forward roles that he plays across the HF line and deep that define his talent. Having dominant forwards are great, and I am looking forward to watching Hogan's Forwardline for a decade, but midfields win flags and that is where you just cannot hide anyone. Finals show you up. If you don't bat deep in the midfield, you won't get deep into September.

Censored for me but not for you... That's [censored].

I am assuming things in my hypothetical scenarios? You are surmising he had a frontloaded contract to better the chances he can be traded. And yes, you can convince me and others that Dawes' has had it, but then don't tell me he has a market. That dog don't hunt.
-
Hawthorn's pick is ND18. Coz they won and all...
-
About 4 role players on little money that everyone thinks you can't win a flag with. Source: Most flag winning teams.

lol I would make a joke about the Bombers going down in flames, but I am above that... And that would require them leaving the carrier:
-
Yes, but Chris has to agree to that pay cut... And I know we used to front load under Schwab, but who knows for Dawes - it is a massive assumption some are making to make this a plausible trade for another team. And again, how do some of you reconcile these to contradictory viewpoints; - he is no good, not up to playing AFL anymore, 'not worth a cold pie' (shudder), and - these 3 clubs would be interested, maybe for a second or low third round pick, his new club will give him a new contract. Do you see how nuts that reads for the faculty-controlled neutral Demon reading this thread?
-
No, that would be one of the three. The first one.
-
Scenario 1: Trade Dawes for ND75 and pay $200k of his salary to the Lions/Dockers/InsertTeamHere. Scenario 2: Delist Dawes and pay out his salary for 2016 of ~$500k. Scenario 3: Dawes stays and competes with Pedersen/Frost/InsertRecruitHere for the 2nd tall/Ruck option in 2016. I just don't see any other scenario happening other than #3...
-
I am not one for betraying confidences, but could someone please betray a confidence and just inform this thread of the tidbit?
-
We would have to give Dawes away and if we do that I would surmise that he is the one agitating to go... I guess I will watch this space, but I don't expect anything to happen.

Touché?

This will be forgotten through time but Jack Viney should have been ND3 - all teams knew we were taking him regardless of where; we gave him a 5 year 'contract' at 15, all teams knew he would become what he has become. GWS and GC were the teams that could have forced our hand and both were involved in the Mini Draft that delivered GWS ND2 and ND3, GC Martin, and us Hogan. GWS wanted our pick and GC wasn't spoiling the apple cart - Viney at ND26.
