  1. Even Roos gave him a good '8 or 9' weeks when he dropped him for the last game. So you stole a month and I gave him one... And the top 10 players poll votes, Watts isn't that in many games, even when he had his good 'couple' of months, he contributed and played his role (something I appreciated) but he doesn't create for himself and doesn't do defensive roles or get hard footy so polling in B+F is not his bag... His ceiling is valuable role player in a good team, and that's not nothing, but it's not transformative. If we are asking for top 10 pick like someone said we were, how does a good team get that to give to us?
  2. He's beyond that. His road is ending, it's just whether he can recapture enough form and health to get another contract. If he does, he would have had a ripper 2016. So I hope for that.
  3. To be fair, that stat is hardly definitive on watts' output delivering to the forwards.
  4. He has a year on his contract and his knee looked really suspect this year, he played a patch of good games but his worth is purely as a role player and he isn't perfectly suited to the 2nd tall/back-up ruck role. But I can barely think of 5 players who are... Looked really fit at the start of the year so if his knee holds together in 2016 he will be more value than simply cutting him adrift - we won't be able to trade him - but a replacement for him and Pedersen would be a high priority this summer or next. Frost isn't a forwards rear end from what I saw of his leading patterns earlier in the year...
  5. Poor recruiters too, who have to decide whether a kid is passionate enough to take his footy seriously, or too passionate about his footy that he can barely function when things aren't going great... #raisethedraftage
  6. I can't see the puck, I don't even think the commentators can, they just react when the players react... And I really meant about their FA compensation procedures.
  7. Had a really good few months before he, and a few others, went back to his usual ways. Even if it is only to bump up his trade value to a decent level. Unless part of a package, I can't see him getting anything worth his value. We can rewrite 2015 to say that we will take ND35 for him (the proverbial packet of chips) but it won't make it true, and it won't make it a good trade.
  8. Yeah, did the same. Ain't nobody got time for that!
  9. Kid needs to be hypnotised. Mate, we all eff up from time to time, it is not the end of your footy career but if you make yourself only 'as good as your last touch' then it will be the end of your footy career... He's got talent, but needs to get out of his own head.
  10. If it helps I have the ages in the Contracts thread pinned on the top of the forum.
  11. He's always promised to be this good, but not this early. Some of you got off him because his skills are not great, and they aren't, but when you have an appetite for getting the footy and the bloke like he does, your impact goes beyond the ten chances you get to lace out someone.
  12. Each case will be different. Kreuzer's body is the thing that will keep him from huge money. There still needs to be some form of restriction on top 4 clubs getting FAs, I don't think Frawley's troubles will deter them on other players...
  13. Meh. I mean, he would be great for midfield depth, but how deep? If Goodwin sees something then back your man I guess. But... Meh.
  14. NFL has comp but only for third round and later. But that's not nothing. NBA doesn't, MLB is complicated but does have a compensation model I understand. Who cares about NHL. So it's a bit messy, we can carve our own path on things like this.
  15. Well deserved. And Jack and Jesse will drag this club up the ladder.
  16. Jamar update. There will probably be some more changes over the weekend.
  17. Yes, the less Gawn plays in that forward line the better. And the reason why 'leading up' players would suit Hogan is that it gets him one-out as they are leading their opponent up the ground and away from the spot that Hogan wants it. I think that is why he likes playing with Dawes - because he gets out of his space and leads out which opens up more space.
  18. He doesn't even have to 'ruck' well, just compete and know how to link or drop behind play or be comfortable running ahead of the footy. Remember, a number of other clubs will not have an adequate 'second ruck' and those that do won't have them in long enough to really make a difference.
  19. Considering many of us have spent a summer or two scrolling for your Melbourne Bitter for updates on rumours you have started - forgive us for pushing for clarification on whether it was or wasn't your opinion.
  20. I won't forget McDonalds first couple of months which were the best from a backman I have seen since Rivers.
  21. Well, now I feel like an right [censored]... I could only comment on what I saw in his performance and it was obviously hindered by a painful injury at times... Makes you appreciate the big games he put in though...
  22. Can you show me the source of this? I doubt that would be a specific dollar amount considering the cap goes up about $400k every year.
  23. My own team has some crappy, scrappy wins and you have a laugh about how difficult it was to get going and move on with a smile and work on went didn't go well on Tuesday. Telling blokes off for winning is counterproductive and confusing. And am I 'pumping it up'? The win column is pumping it up. As I said throughout the last 8 years - winning isn't the only performance indicator by it is a legislatively important one...
  24. He said that when talking about the 'bad things' about being an AFL footy player in the media glare. I could grab a transcript of what Hogan said in that 'interview' with Slobbo and pull it apart if I wanted to - but I don't, because he's a kid trying to the best by himself, the club, his family, his mate that he beat, and the forum he was on. It's a little sad bringing up what Jack Watts said when he was 19 to prop up Jesse Hogan - Hogan doesn't need that, he also wouldn't want it.
