  1. We have a ‘Gawn type issue’ in the women’s team with a dominant ruck coming nearer to the end and Lauren also struggles to impact forward to allow a back up decent minutes. It’s not one to worry about just yet but it’s the one downside to the amazing strike rate of rucks this club has had for 40 years.
  2. If you would have told me 10 years ago that an Aussie manager in 2023 will have beaten Man Utd in a game for points and we would come 4th in either WC I would have been pretty rude.
  3. I get what you are saying. They are hardly rants, although I can harp. And I have nuance about this trade and what is next for it - I just effing hate it when people will say something to your face as if it’s a certainty and when it doesn’t happen - they just move on as if they never thought it.
  4. Ladies and gentlemen, today we gather to bid farewell to the Geelong Football Club, a team that provided endless, until now, joy to a backwards people that like two thing; pingers and surfing. With a penchant for government money and an uncanny ability to recruit absolute chards, the Cats have been a source of pain for those of us who relished in their misfortunes. Their legacy of shattered dreams has now been renewed and long may it flourish. The way they managed to raise hopes only to let them plummet into the depths of despair was a true masterpiece of psychological torment. The Geelong Football Club served as a stark reminder that even the most seemingly formidable opponents can be brought down by hubris and Jack freaking Higgins. Through their numerous grand final losses and heartbreaking defeats, the Cats inadvertently united their adversaries in a shared delight of witnessing their downfall. Recent history put to one side, we will always be grateful for the unforgettable moments of schadenfreude they provided us, reminding us that even the mightiest can stumble when it matters most. So let us not mourn the demise of the Geelong Football Club, but instead celebrate the joy that this has brought to the football community, as we revel in the joy of what the Matildas have done these last few weeks, can we also shed a happy tear for a September where Chris Scott can wail and groan violently to kitchen staff as his Tex Mex takes just that little bit too long on his stop in Dallas as he tours international clubs looking for someone who wants to talk to him. May this legacy be one of humility and a testament to the shared humanity and grace of those that only go over the Westgate to get to the Hume the other way when it’s bonkers up at the ring road. SIGNED @rpfc @Jaded No More Note: call them chards, rp. It’s like a beet or something.
  5. What is happening right now to Essendon is going to bring the footy world together. A victimless crime.
  6. Plenty of water to go under the bridge - I just don’t ignore the tonnage of water that’s already flowed.
  7. This would be one of those things that happened when you were living overseas - we helped facilitate breast cancer awareness and some men were so secure in their sexuality that they could wear pink/salmon clothing. Still there are some that projected their own homophobic self hatred but that’s a history lesson for a different mirror.
  8. In light of his non-selection a few may need to revisit their confident dismissiveness they met the reports/opinions of Grundy possibly not playing finals, leaving the club in October, and the whole thing being a misguided venture.
  9. If you were in the Demonland Pub and loudly asked that question, you would be yelling ‘Anyone?’ over about 15 people telling you ‘we would go and get someone to backup Gawn who is less expensive and more comfortable playing less and/or playing more forward’ So meek posturing aside - if Grundy wants to go we will facilitate and that recalibration may make us a better team.
  10. This is an argument for another thread but I would argue that Max needed to lay down his truth on the FD - if you want to make me a forward, I won’t want to do it nor be able to. Then we could have pursued a different strategy along the lines of McLean.
  11. This selection says a lot of things about The Grundy Experiment, the Future of Grundy, the Spargo Situation, the Laurie Opportunity, and the Tomlinson Conundrum. Also, some on here are playing 4th dimensional chess when it comes to player roles. Selection Integrity demands that there be consistent roles across the teams that player compete for - Speed Forwards as Stafford calls them - however, each of those player have different strengths and conceptualise the role according to their capabilities. It doesn’t mean they don’t play the same ‘role’ and it certainly doesn’t mean they can’t lose their spot to a similar if not direct replacement player.
  12. Doesn’t surprise me that stat. Some would think he lost more games, younger fans would think he won more games. Nathan Jones played in over 200 losses… Well done to Max for staying himself and becoming a champion. One the best 3 players I have seen in red and blue. The other two also playing on the weekend…
  13. I think they are similar roles that are played differently because of the varying strengths. ANB is different because of the work he does to release CP5 and CO13 at stoppages but MC need to decide what interpretation of the role they appreciate best and/or are complimentary. I think Spargo is a momentum killer and he dwells on the ball to much for a team that has too many of those players up and down the ground. But we will see what the FD think soon enough
  14. Not entirely certain I like where this thread is going… I mean I may be a ‘pathetic clown’ @Redleg but ‘pleb level gif work’ @Jaded No More… ’PLEB LEVEL GIF WORK’?! And nup, @daisycutter no one has got it yet…
  15. Potentially. But potential is wishful thinking until it isn’t.
  16. He’s already getting stints in the middle. This year has been great for our continued competitiveness at the top with Rivers and Pickett through the middle, McVee down back as an attacking yet capable defender, and Petracca proving he can go forward whenever and cause headaches.
