  1. Nah, it’s it’s spelled ‘Howe’
  2. If we don’t win on Thursday then our side of the draw becomes a group of death with Melb, Carl, and Bris in Bris. The other side will be GWS/StK, Coll, and Port… Another blow out GF coming… Execute on Thursday night and life is easier.
  3. No, Taylor and Lamb go up to get someone. Like they tried to Humphries last year and like they did to get Oliver and Pickett. It’s not going up for the sake of going up - it’s to get a specific player.
  4. Even harder to quote. I don’t know - anyone who is a chance of playing in the team would be a start.
  5. He will have a preference and we hopefully want to free up the cap space for first 18 player - both things negate whatever increase in value Grundy has seen in this ‘fit and capable’ year.
  6. To further the reward for the top team and to avoid similar situations like the Pies having to play us when 2 more preferable teams finished above us. In the NBA there are some teams that have injuries and then their best teams come good and they scrape into the playoffs. The Lakers won the play in tournament and Le Bron and Davis smashed through the 2nd seed Grizzlies from 7th. Memphis would have picked the injury riddled Clippers instead and advanced. Again, I wouldn’t necessarily make this my first change when I become the Emperor of the AFL (all power be upon me), but it has merit.
  7. It may happen in the future - the top team chooses their opponent. NBA is flirting with that idea. I can see the merit.
  8. He needs a chop out but we always needed a forward who can ruck and not a flat out ruck - Goodwin thought in 2022 that we could turn Gawn into that forward who rucks and it was a mistake. A mistake that Gawn can’t stop waxing lyrical about. Just go and get that forward who can ruck. Got plenty of cash (if Grundy leaves), picks and clout - just get it done.
  9. Prepare to be disappointed and angry… …and whatever emotion is left because I still think we’ll win… …horny?
  10. If Gawn doesn’t do a knee and we do have Grundy on the list - how does Grundy play AFL footy next year?
  11. Max was so raw when he was young. Baby giraffes take 6+ years to come good. I’m glad we made the investment. Jefferson should take less time if he is to be something but I think he needs to be 22/3 before his body is ready to take what is coming to him if he plays as a tall in a forward line.
  12. One exercise might be helpful as the masses on here are convincing themselves of our superiority - if we were to lose, why would that happen? What I see; we may struggle to take advantage of periods of dominance if Fritsch or CP5 aren’t firing, we may be cut through with the Pies ball movement and because of high press they may get 4 great looks in a hurry, we might fall back into some bad habits around slow ball movement out of the backline and tied with losing stoppages it would just invite pressure… Anyway, exploration of those scenarios would be helpful - because you will talk plenty about the reverse.
  13. Cal Twomey asked Paul Connors - it’s between Coll and Grundy for the life of the contract. There is no deal between Melb and Coll.
  14. I remember posting with Gawn that we shouldn’t expect anything for 6 years much to the frustration of the heaving masses on here; this cuts both ways - both groups that are thinking Jefferson can be best 23 in 2024/5 and those that deride him in his first year - are placing unfair expectations on him.
  15. Sunk cost. We won’t try to make it work - this is a QF. Win this and we are on the right side of the draw to Port at the G for a chance to go to a GF. It didn’t work - Gawn can’t make it work - it’s not the end of the world. Let’s pick the best team to win some finals.
  16. Red, if we have a fwd lined up that we plan on using that $650k on, do you think we drive a ‘hard bargain’ especially with our draft hand? The journos can ‘expect’ all they want - and I do love how we take their words without salt when it suits - but we will get similar to what we paid and move on.
  17. Mate, respectfully, that’s just not the case. We have the premier ruckman in the game who is incapable of playing as a forward that rucks part time, therefore we have $650k worth of another player plying his trade in the VFL. We need to invest that money and whatever value we can get into a forward to help us win before Gawn, May and Viney are done in the next 3 years. Players can also say no to moving which also diminishes our ‘holding of cards’…
  18. Finals are all about execution on the day. I am grateful for the opportunity the club is giving me to make myself sick with anxiety and trepidation. But I can live with being beaten by a team that can execute better on the day - but after last year - we are due to be on the winning side of that ‘execution battle’… We look fit, our best players are at least fit with only two adjusting to long breaks out injured, and we are in form with what we are good at - contest and defence.
  19. Depends on how he plays - if he is playing first ruck which is the most likely way he plays - something unthinkable has happened to Gawn that may end his career. Then, yes, we will keep him… Not worth thinking about tho.
  20. He’s not leaving next Monday FFS. Gawn gets injured in QF, Grundy will play SF but Oct rolls around and he will move on, and we will move onto another back up ruck, hopefully one that can also play forward.
  21. He’s not playing AFL and he is on $650k, if he was in good form he would be playing. Im sorry but reality doesn’t see what you see.
  22. Did you go over the Nick’s @Lucifers Hero - that’s where the real nuffies live.
  23. You guys are just gearing yourselves up to be disappointed. We may be willing to keep the player. That is vastly different to being happy to keep him - we are not getting a first round pick and we will end up with something similar to what we paid so that Brodie can go somewhere he will play. These are people with careers - we aren’t going Dodoro the situation, and it certainly doesn’t mean he is not a ‘team player’ for meeting with other clubs in the bye week before a finals series he is highly unlikely to feature in. This is not the future we sold him and we will do what good clubs do.
