I think Carlton are a really good team. They remind me of us in the way they build out from the contest. I just think they are missing too many top line players in the midfield, we have better players around the ground, we are really looking to be daring and exciting from stoppages and if we draw or win scores from stoppages then we should win the game. Some on here abandoned the ride - if we lose top 2 it’s because we lose top 2. We have two games at the G and then Sydney. We should win all three of those games. The Lions have the Crows and the Saints at the Gabba but the Future Premiers at Marvel. And Port have GWS and the Tigers at home and Freo over there but you won’t see me barracking for Freo. We are now in a top 2 position - it’s ours to lose.

Grundy is not sticking around to be back up. Max and the FD need to have a discussion in early October about whether Max wants to play for 2 more years or until one his knees goes, or whether Max wants to have some discipline applied and turn into a FP that rucks for a third of the game. If that is too hard and Max was just humouring everyone last October then pay $200k for Port to take him and go and get a 22 year old lump from somewhere.

On JVR - Grundy should really be backing himself to provide more than a 20 year old forward/back up ruck… whether he gets the opportunity I don’t know. The other point around playing teams that will be playing to win is that we get to avoid teams that just park the bus. Carlton and Sydney will be playing to win and that is a great primer. The Hawks will want to show us up like they did the Pies, they are getting ND3 regardless so Mitchell can go for it.
