  1. Sunk cost. We won’t try to make it work - this is a QF. Win this and we are on the right side of the draw to Port at the G for a chance to go to a GF. It didn’t work - Gawn can’t make it work - it’s not the end of the world. Let’s pick the best team to win some finals.
  2. Red, if we have a fwd lined up that we plan on using that $650k on, do you think we drive a ‘hard bargain’ especially with our draft hand? The journos can ‘expect’ all they want - and I do love how we take their words without salt when it suits - but we will get similar to what we paid and move on.
  3. Mate, respectfully, that’s just not the case. We have the premier ruckman in the game who is incapable of playing as a forward that rucks part time, therefore we have $650k worth of another player plying his trade in the VFL. We need to invest that money and whatever value we can get into a forward to help us win before Gawn, May and Viney are done in the next 3 years. Players can also say no to moving which also diminishes our ‘holding of cards’…
  4. Finals are all about execution on the day. I am grateful for the opportunity the club is giving me to make myself sick with anxiety and trepidation. But I can live with being beaten by a team that can execute better on the day - but after last year - we are due to be on the winning side of that ‘execution battle’… We look fit, our best players are at least fit with only two adjusting to long breaks out injured, and we are in form with what we are good at - contest and defence.
  5. Depends on how he plays - if he is playing first ruck which is the most likely way he plays - something unthinkable has happened to Gawn that may end his career. Then, yes, we will keep him… Not worth thinking about tho.
  6. He’s not leaving next Monday FFS. Gawn gets injured in QF, Grundy will play SF but Oct rolls around and he will move on, and we will move onto another back up ruck, hopefully one that can also play forward.
  7. He’s not playing AFL and he is on $650k, if he was in good form he would be playing. Im sorry but reality doesn’t see what you see.
  8. Did you go over the Nick’s @Lucifers Hero - that’s where the real nuffies live.
  9. You guys are just gearing yourselves up to be disappointed. We may be willing to keep the player. That is vastly different to being happy to keep him - we are not getting a first round pick and we will end up with something similar to what we paid so that Brodie can go somewhere he will play. These are people with careers - we aren’t going Dodoro the situation, and it certainly doesn’t mean he is not a ‘team player’ for meeting with other clubs in the bye week before a finals series he is highly unlikely to feature in. This is not the future we sold him and we will do what good clubs do.
  10. My mate got annoyed when I said he put a few pounds on. I will tell him I am just being bio-anatomically observant.
  11. There’s a week off and he isn’t in the team. It’s fine.
  12. Goodwin would say that regardless- he’s on a 4 year contract. Grundy met with us in winter last year, I don’t see the problem - the older blokes can compartmentalise. And those that demand one of their better young players is kidding themselves. We do not hold the whip hand here - we surely want to free up cap and spend it on a first 18 player or players. The value will be similar to what we paid.
  13. And she was good on her return - had a few goal assists and her kicking inside50 is great.
  14. There is a certain level of creep factor to what I am about to say but it’s needed for the comp to get to that ‘analytical level’ we all want it to get to… Eliza M is much stronger through the hips and thighs now with her time in the gym. Very powerful, and I don’t know if that is what they make you do when you break your back but it’s just really good for her footy.
  15. And Heath! Shelley Heath is the reincarnation of Nathan Brown; dogged and takes on any assignment and backs herself to win the footy.
  16. Collingwood doing well to be second given that percentage…
  17. How good were they tonight? That second half was dominant. The midfield is a well oiled machine already. Eliza M is quickly back to being important but her kicking into the forward line is pitch perfect. Just love her game. Kate Hore doesn’t get enough love as one of the best 10 players in the comp and Hanks and Harris are just doing what they always have done. Campbell showing signs too. Just love this team.
  18. This may sound rude but Paxy is way better than Karen…
  19. Max needs to be quiet on things like this, and the Grundy future. Just inviting unnecessary pressure.
  20. Any time you use the term ‘cadaver’ - yes, you have performed a ‘TMI’ as the kids would say…
  21. Either you’re confused or I am confused about your confusion. Either way it’s making me angry
  22. Good. He’s a stat chaser and he’s soft and that club needs to spend another 19 years chasing a finals win.
  23. Yeah, we are not as big as Essendon. Happy to be awesome for 25 years and peg them back…
  24. The forward line this year has been a fascination to me - some in the media intimate it’s a massive issue and liability and I would have agreed a couple of months ago due to two things; no Fritsch, Brown, TMac, and Melksham meant not much forward craft and nous, and our forward connection was really down with little delivery to options, but the remedies have been impressive. With one addendum that Jake Melksham won’t be there to take pressure off Fritsch and provide ‘interceptor engagement’ of which is so good at. But back to the remedies; Petracca - obvious one and a powerful one made even more so with Oliver coming back. Chandler in the team - allows another speed forward in Pickett to get up the ground and also play out of the guts. Smith being trusted - I came down for the Carl-Freo-Coll games and he was avoided in 1-1 contests like the plague but now there is more trust there. Pickett out of the square - last week against the Swans he was a 5’8 Tony Lockett putting the fear of god into people kidneys coming out of the square. SCG is a unique ground but there is another option that Kozzie is more than happy to execute. He never can mark it so he may as well knee someone in the back of the head. What we are left with after the last 8 weeks is a really potent number of options regardless of if they go small or tall with TMac. IF our forward connection is good enough and we look to hit the option and not blast away, we have a good enough forward line to kick a winning score. Well done to Goodwin and Stafford.
