Any info on why it went so poorly? Powerpoint pres have too much white space? Joffa was loitering out the front was a cigarette and a bevvy?
-
Sum of all parts but if one of those parts wasn't faulty - we play finals. The start against the Pies - the end against the Lions, the naivete of the coaching staff against NM in Tassie, and GWS in Canberra, the list can extend past this, but there is no leap. There is 'behave like a normal team of competitive, talented football players that are well coached' and we play finals.

Lost me here. Tyson is the reason we missed out on finals by 2 goals of percentage?

*played against men in the NEAFL and they shifted him back
-
Said it before - no player that gets as much footy as him is a bad footy player. His decision making is the issue and so is our ability to continue in 2018 with a midfield rotation heavy on tough ball winners. Viney, Oliver, Lewis, Jones, Tyson, and Petracca even are ball winners first with varying degrees of outside ability. Unless the other players in the rotation are better on the outside than they have been - something has to give.

Big lump, played forward in the U/19 Rising Stars comp and killed it, playing against me in the NEAFL they shifted him back.

So a couple of days after we are reportedly out of the Lever race we sign up our OOC tall defender? Might be something to that then...
-
Why do you need to add this? jnrmac is a poster who has a record of engaging in decent back and forth without this backhander seemingly dismissing his comment as uneducated and simple enough to be ripped from the 24 hour talk back radio staion for nuffie footy fans. Like a couple other posters that come and go and come back again - why bother engaging with us unlearned fools? Get a blog and disable the comments and you'd get what you want.

"I stay down with my Demons, I stay down with my Demons." Loved the National before this song but felt like they were trolling me with this [censored].

Injuries aside I EXPECT to get have a better approach to games we play against an inferior opponent, a better headspace at the start of games, continued development of our best talent, and a less arrogant/ignorant performance from our coaching staff and Goodwin. If all of that happens and we win 13 games - fine with me but FMD the league is even...

I was going to do another post on this specifically. Who didn't stand up in the first quarter? And who didn't show up against Freo, Haw and NM? That is the root of this violent drama - the arrogance of young men who can't be convinced to apply themselves consistently in their privilege.

Post Mortem: How about we do a bit a 'compliment sandwich'... Amazing wins against Crows, Bombers, WBs, and WCE all away from home. Unforgivable losses against Freo, Haw, and NM (x2) Goodwins exciting gameplan Goodwins baffling blunders in windy conditions (NM and GWS) Aggression all year at the ball and man Suspensions to key players that cost us wins (and percentage? Ooooh, too soon?) The greatness of Oliver, Jetta, and Hibberd The development of ANB and Oscar McD The patchiness of Tyson, Harmes, Pedersen, Hannan, Petracca, Melksham, Lewis, Bugg, Garlett, Tom McD, and Hunt The stalling of Salem, Watts, Gawn, Brayshaw, Stretch, Kent, Frost, Weideman and JKH The decline of Vince The injuries to Garland, VDB, Jones, Hogan, Viney The existence on the list of Wagner, White, Kennedy, Spencer, King, Hulett These are the things that come to mind to explain why we have failed once again; failed when we shouldn't have.

Improvement doesn't exclude failure. Off to the post-mortem thread where hindsight can still be illuminating.

I do love it when I see him dash away with the footy going on a daring adventure that usually ends with a 50m bomb to hopefulness. But... A tall defender's first job is beating his bloke and not the daring dash. Knowing your role is more important than the 'point of difference' that Frost allows with his spurts of excitedness. It is similar to the criticisms of Tom McD and his kicking; he screws up one or two of his 7 kicks? Oh ok, but he has just destroyed the best forward on the other team by doing his job and playing his very important role. That is not to say that I think Frost is anything other than developing well as a tall back, but Lever is a different level and would free up T Mac and also Hibberd with the way he plays his crucial role.
-
You could argue that for any pick. It is an argument that any discussion over the merits of a deal is folly - not just the Kelly for Salem, Tyson, and Hunt deal.
-
No, you haven... ooohhhhh, I see what you did there... ... Jon Ralph sucks.

-
Yes! I did! It's me from ten years ago! Don't trust a word he says, he is a [censored] idiot... I think I was 'number27' without the space...
-
Ummm, where are the new posters...
-
Love rumours. Happy to have them. My only comment: It's 'Dees.' It's a C-apostrophe! Haha... ... But, seriously, change it.
-
Would prefer to lose Frost and Kent than Watts and a pick. I would do the Watts deal for Lever but would want to move on Frost anyway so it would make sense to include him in that deal. IF he decides to come to the Dees of course.

A clear second in contested possessions just behind Adelaide... Look, the numbers will allow anyone to find whatever they want to find if you look at them the right way. I see a team that has been consistent with how it plays and the pressure it applies. However, as CB says - we don't have the balance right and can go for 10 minutes making bad handball after bad handball and when you screw up with that skill - you get hurt. But, we have improved so much on last year, and are lightyears away from what we were in 2014. So we haven't perfected Goodwin's style in Year 1 - we can still do some damage in a couple of weeks time if we have everyone fit and our bottom 6 contribute.
-
We also were able to isolate him. Pack marking he doesn't do. If we are to do any damage in any finals series in the era of Hogan - it will be a forward line that gets him one-on-one more often than not.
-
Perfect summation. When Wagner somehow gets handed the footy 40m out from goal I ask myself "what the [censored] are you doing there?!? Where are you playing?! Is someone trying to take you forward to make us ineffectual?" Wagner's dilated pupils with the footy forward of centre fill me with a sense that, maybe, those proposed zoning rules aren't bad after all...
