  1. Dawes is a suitable bridge to Weideman. He will make him earn his games and allow him time to build his fitness, frame, confidence, and game.
  2. Yes, Dom Tyson is a very good player. Viney is the best inside midfielder at the club.
  3. Viney sprinted past Tyson in 2015 and eclipsed Tyson's 2014 with 12 CPs to 9, 6 Clearances to 5, and the general fact that if no-one gets between Viney and the footy. Put Tyson in a room with Viney and a Sherrin and he wouldn't see it.
  4. If you say that three times Jack Viney appears and pulls your heart out...
  5. Haha. Can I just say it was a pleasure to have the top 10 lined up and for once not see the smallest little fella in a Dees jumper... I am always going to be interested in what Darcy Parish might be but I am very excited by what Clayton Oliver is.
  6. Looking forward to seeing him begin to show us what he can do in 2018!
  7. Don't forget I agreed with you soon after...
  8. The player we just 'had to pick' has been Parish and when there has been the player 'we had to pick' we have picked Watts, Morton, Scully, and Toumpas... I have developed this affliction to ask 'who is the better player taken at 15 or 20. Maybe Clayton Oliver is that better player usually taken later?

    'Perfect' mentor?

Size isn't a barrier if he wants it enough, if Goodwin has spent so much time with him this year and chatting to him, he must be able to get a read on whether he has that desire. Just put us out of our misery and leak it Melbourne!

I hate it when we judge 18 year old character but this is not good for him and while I would still pick on footballing ability, the information on the 'back of the Recruiters hand' just got updated with drink driving on your Ps while running a red late at night... Charlie...

We will find you that player, but we are not going to reach for a player who we are not certain can fulfil that role. Midfields win flags, Jesse.

Where do the non-strange ones come from? Honestly, there will be a handful of players in this very draft we are looking at on Tuesday that will taken in the teens that are better than those taken in the top 10. Because that is the problem with drafting teenagers - the judgements you think are strange can be anything but and the 'locks' we pick can be anything but.
  14. I don't give a [censored] about what their teenage bodies can do.
  15. Yes, for all the money spent on rebranding, re-doing the song, giving out free coffee, and all that stuff - the best value for money will be whatever Jesse Hogan wants.

I am getting emotionally invested again!!! But that Mathieson is very Bartel-like IMO...

DC coined He Who F.... Us Around sometime after I gave him the Voldemort - He Who Must Not Be Named - treatment. Halcyon days of Demonland those days.

Yes, I said a few days ago his floor looks like Shane Edwards. Let's hope he can get off the floor a little though...

Keep in mind that most of us are only going off highlight packages... But players like Francis look excellent as they dispose of the footy well and cut off kicks in defence and take strong marks around the ground - they really could be Goddard or they could be Daniel Bell. The player that I am excited about at this time of the year is the bull who will not let anyone else get the footy (Viney) and you just know... Or the player who is a dominant tall player that doesn't stop moving and leads in all directions and loves to use his body (Hogan) and you just know... Or the player that seems to follow the play in the centre square like he has ESP with the sherrin and when he gets the ball explodes out of the traffic as if he has a GPS inbuilt (Judd) and you just know... Obviously the last type of player is the one we are without although Petracca looks like that type of power player. Parish would be the closest to that in this class that I have seen in my limited viewings - who are the players that have those traits?
  20. This 'snoop dog' and I have different interpretations of the word 'need'...

Paywall, but is there a bunch of Academy selections in there? That might explain it; Mills, Hipwood, Hopper and Kennedy might push our pick to 11.
  22. Would we be 'equal' then? We did have ND6 and still have ND7 but effectively swapped next years pick for this year's ND3. So unless we end up giving GC the first or second pick - you could argue we have simply brought forward next years pick.

It was Goodwin seen in the rooms and we had the GC deal for Howe ready to go for ND3, we weren't expecting ND6 to get the player we wanted. Whoever we pick - we picked him a long way out.
  24. Viney, Tyson and Brayshaw are your locks. Salem and Petracca is unproven in the midfield at AFL level - they should prove themselves nest season hopefully. Vanders and ANB are in the process of proving themselves. I am more than comfortable adding two more prospects to this list. We simply have to come out of this malaise with a strong midfield.
