  1. I agree, we need to drop TMac for BBB. I don't understand the discourse around BBB being too old, past it, etc, he had a boomer of a time in the first two matches, kicked 8 goals. Okay, he only kicked 1 in the Brisbane game, but hey, name a Melbourne player that night that actually played well. Since his back niggle he's been doing really well in VFL, it's time he came back into the team. I also agree about Disco and Woewodin, time Disco was brought in and given a chance. I'd go so far also to suggest Laurie - like Disco, we can't punish these kids for having the odd bad game, let's develop them and give them a go.
  2. Really? No one else is! I reckon the AFL are scared of Carlton's lawyers after last year!
  3. I wasn't at the game, my experience was far worse, and I attribute it to child abuse. I was 16, staying with my grandparents (Hawthorn supporters) while my parents were in Queensland. We were listening to the game on the radio, and I was listening in shock to the final moments, and as soon as that goal was kicked I burst into 16 year old temper tantrum tears, to which Pa started to laugh at me, prompting me to do the whole dramatic storm to the bedroom, slam the door shut, throw myself on to the bed with my face buried in the pillow bellowing horrible tears. In the meantime I could hear Pa laughing, Grandma saying to him, "Leave her alone you big bully!" and him trying to defend himself. Not my most shining moment in life. And I agree, if we had've made the grand final we would have lost to Carlton, they were too strong. However I maintain that the experience of being in the GF may have given us a greater chance in 1988, where we were an experienced team thumped by Hawthorn. Badly.
  4. I still bear scars from that horrible outcome
  5. Thanks, that song is stuck in my head now!!!
  6. I just saw this on the Big Footy forum. They're still in trauma from last year.... "I asked for this game for a reason. My psychologist says for me to be any chance of making a full recovery I have to confront the cause of my trauma, specifically the evening of Saturday the 13th of August 2022. I remember it like it was yesterday. I was at Optus watching a dreadful derby. I couldn’t find a tv anywhere in the stadium to watch our game so I ended up watch it on a phone with a young Blues fan I met that night. We laughed, we cried, we drank and then when big H took that mark on the wing we celebrated - we were back in the finals after 9 years of purgatory - alas I crowed early and paid the price. What transpired over the next 50 odd seconds I have watched so many times - sometime I think I watched it actually hoping for a different outcome - they are now forever etched in my memory. This game was the most heartbreaking loss I can remember since, ironically, our 2000 qualifying final loss to Melbourne. That it held that title for a whole 8 days until the following weeks capitulation against the Pies captures the essence what being a Carlton supporter has become." The post from this point on goes on and on and on. Quite a read
  7. And here you've highlighted the context in which Hughes made that comment - he screamed it at them after a lengthy spray, at a period of time where coaching was a completely different kettle of fish. You cannot disguise it with words alone as "being encouraging". It wasn't Hughes' intention at the time.
  8. I don't understand the narrative about BB being "horribly out of form/past it". He kicked 9 goals in the first 3 rounds, had a minor back complaint, been doing well in VFL side, and for some reason can't get back into the side. It makes no sense to me. TBH I'd prefer him in than TMac.
  9. On most home days, no you don't. The first couple of rows are taken up by people with key roles in the DA, but on most home games, unless the club or AFL issue reserved seating like King's Birthday, the bay is pretty welcoming. Plus M4 has been set aside for Melbourne supporters to sit alongside the DA if they wish to, and it gets treated like an extension to the DA. Plenty has changed in the DA since 2010, since that time it's had a change of leaders, and it prides itself on being inclusive. We have over 1000 members this year, making it one of the largest cheer squads.
  10. No, Redlegs members got an email today saying we can scan in our membership and sit in our normal spots.
  11. No. I'm not from Adelaide, or Essendon, or West Coast, or Collingwood. I'm not a booer.
  12. Did I read that correct? Someone is expecting Jackson to kick 34 goals against us? They do know the goal kicking individual record in a match is 19, by Fred Fanning, don't they?
  13. Saraid spent time last year on Richmond's rookie list, and has been playing for Port Melbourne this year in the VFLW. As well as football, she is a talented basketballer, as well as being a scriptwriter/author after graduating from VCA's film school, and also a model. She's also very active in social justice issues.
  14. Saraid has been signed on as a replacement player while Sammie Johnstone is on maternity leave after giving birth to Luca earlier this year. Welcome to Dees, Saraid!! https://www.melbournefc.com.au/news/1339058/saraid-taylor-becomes-a-demon
  15. It's rather unfair to say Adelaide killed Nathan Buckley, Collingwood's "Do Better" report did that.
  16. I think it means as footballers, they're meant to have multiple sets of eyes to enable 360 degree vision.
  17. There's plausability in that. However, what I can't stomach is the fact Gleeson did not allow the club to submit evidence. On what grounds? That in itself is worth an appeal due to incorrect tribunal procedure. Worked for Cripps - he wasn't cleared because he was innocent, he was cleared because of improper practice by the tribunal.
  18. I think that was the ancient language of Port Boganism. Ie complete incoherent ramblings.
  19. That Hawthorn supporter is still huddled in the corner, rocking backwards and forwards, mumbling to himself that last Saturday never happened.
  20. Demetriou was CEO during the time the Goodes episode started, McLachlan inherited that.
