AFLW: Rd 04 vs Richmond
Those of us at the game were completely kept in the dark. All we knew was Fitzy had her goal taken off her, we weren't happy.

2025 MRO & Tribunal
It's no surprise the two of them are best mates. I know they did play together when they were at North, just a shame Ben was retiring as Tom came in. They signed up Tom on the day of the Best and Fairest last year. Leading up to that night, we were discussing which male player could we call upon to play a similar role to work with us like Ben did, and on the night of the best and fairest, both Ben and Hester came up to me really excited to tell me about Tom. It was really lovely the way Tom has embraced us and worked with us, in much the same way Ben and Hester did. These pics are from one of my favourite footy moments of this year. Tom, Ben and Hester are seriously the best.

How good's this! Not just the tone of the article, but the mention of Ruby Demons with Tom Campbell and Ben Brown https://www.theguardian.com/sport/2025/aug/28/mitch-browns-words-spoke-to-the-[censored]-footy-community-at-a-time-when-the-afl-put-it-last

We absolutely are, we're advocating for the AFL to cancel the contract with Snoop Dogg.

2025 MRO & Tribunal
Sure. The Ruby Demons is the official LGBTIQA+ supporter group of the Melbourne Football Club. There is simply no excuse for what has happened this week regarding homophobic language in our sport. We offer our unconditional love and support to our friends and colleagues a the Rainbow Crows and Collingwood Pride for what must have been an emotionally draining experience. We condemn any form of homophobic language, and we commend the decision made by the AFL in issuing a sanction. Over the past two seasons the AFL ha been continually rocked by similar incidents, despite the League making it very clear that such langage will not be tolerated. To see numerous incidents in 2025 is frustrating and disappointing, given the extensive awareness and education made available to those in the AFL community at all levels, including supporters, staff, officials, players and sponsors. The media attention this week has been both pleasing and disappointing, given the timing and the effect on finals. A number of articles have been written giving an insightful persopective on the effects of homophobic language in our game to those in the LGBTIQA+ community. Marnie Vinall's article in particular is compelling reading for anyone who seeks to understand this impact. We are fortunate at the Ruby Demons to have the support of players like Tom Campbell, who is active through the AFL Players Association and Stand Up Events, an education program for schools and sporting bodies to stamp out homophobia in community settings. We urge all interested parties to investigate this program to help eliminate homophobia in our sport.

It was not a mistake given it was repeated several times throughout the game. That's not a mistake, that's purposeful.

2025 MRO & Tribunal
Why? AFL have made it very clear over the last two seasons that homophobic language will not be tolerated, and that incidents that crop up with face a severe suspension. They have made that blatantly clear over the last two seasons since Clarkson was pinged. Numerous players have faced bans of multiple weeks, and the AFL have stated that any subsequent offences will face a more severe penalty than the previous one. The AFL in that are being consistent. Play stupid games, win stupid prizes. Rankine didn't just let a word slip out. He repeated the slur numerous times throughout the match, then tried to make himself the victim by saying he was triggered by Houston who knocked him out last year. Houston was not even the target of his homophobic language, Quaynor was. So using that as an excuse was pissweak in my opinion. I don't give a stuff if it's finals. He repeatedly used the word towards Quaynor multiple times throughout the game.

Who Will Be Our Next Coach?
Yep, and when he left the team was near the bottom of the ladder. Within 2 years, McCrae had them winning a premiership, with little in the way of list changes.

Who Will Be Our Next Coach?
Just for context, so was Tom Morris

My 3 word player analysis V StKilda
That's the wonderful thing about going to the game is not hearing the crappy commentary!

Maynard unscathed
The big difference being Angus Brayshaw never did anything to warrant a suspension. He's not a dirtbag.

Max on the Front Bar
At the risk of going way off topic on this thread, sure, I'll answer the question. A key part of teaching representation in VCE Media is the use of codes and conventions from media productions from a variety of different periods of production so students can analyse social values from a range of different periods of time. A key part of that is researching what are the social values of the time, as while social issues remain constant, social values evolve. Media would be a very boring subject if we were to only teach productions made recently.
