  1. He was one of the best on ground, 11 clearances, 33 disposals, 3 goals.
  2. I agree, but there aren't to many of them in Sydney. Mostly they're South Melbourne fans
  3. They're incredibly smug, given they're a bunch of rugby league nufties who don't know how to play Aussie Rules.
  4. Please, show Grundy the cafes in Sydney, then he'll see how [censored] they are, and he'll choose to stay.
  5. I'm flying up on Sunday for it, it's my first SCG game.
  6. Well, I didn't use that one, because like if all teams win, and all teams lose, the status quo applies. No change.
  7. Just a note about next week, does it matter if we lose to the Swans? We're locked into the 4th spot, I'm just concerned if we win, but either Brisbane or Port lose, we'll be playing an interstate final first week. Scenarios as they stand - Scenario 1 - All 4 top 4 teams win, we play Collingwood at the G (same as if all 4 lose) Scenario 2 - Collingwood lose, all others win, we finish 4th, but Brisbane finishes top, we go to Gabba. Scenario 3 - Either one of Brisbane or Port lose, all other teams win, we finish 3rd, and play either Port or Brisbane interstate. Scenario 4 - Collingwood and Port Adelaide lose, Melbourne and Brisbane win, Brisbane goes to top, Collingwood, 2nd, us 3rd, Port 4th, we play Collingwood at the G. Scenario 5 - Melbourne wins, Brisbane and Port lose, we finish 2nd, irrespective of how Collingwood perform, and we host a home final to either Brisbane or Port.
  8. Maeve Chaplin out with concussion protocol. She should be back for Round 1, though.
  9. Given there is a bye already after Round 24, I'd be reticent to rest anyone. We can't give anyone 2 weeks off and lose momentum. I'm thinking more along the lines of who do we drop for Fritta next week.
  10. The Hawthorn Handpass was in full play yesterday. Dad called them Hawthorn Handpasses back in the 80s, lovely to see they're still getting away with throwing.
  11. You're spot on. Plus I don't think we were arrogant after 2021, most of us spent last year in total shock it actually happened! Funnily enough I had a look at the Big Footy forum on Hawks just now, they have an entire thread boasting about how arrogant they are. Which goes for 149 pages.....
  12. Also, have a close look at that goal that should have been called a goal. Smith should have got a free for being held.
  13. I attribute evidence of child abuse to those days in late 80s, some of those stories I've shared in Demonland before. 1987, Preliminary Final. I was at my grandparents while my parents were in Queensland. We were listening to the game on the radio, and when that Gary Buckenara goal happened, my grandfather started teasing me, causing me to run to Mum's childhood bedroom, slam the door, and throw myself on the bed in howls of tears, while I listened to my grandmother tell Pa off for making me upset. 1988, Grand Final. My Dad, brother and I were the only Melbourne supporters in a sea of Hawthorn supporters in our extended family on my mum's side. Some bright spark, I think it was my uncle (the most arrogant of arrogant Hawks supporters) decided we should all go to Glenferrie Oval. I was 17, so already good at mastering the art of teenage surliness. My cousin kept playing "Happy Team at Hawthorn" on his tape player. Smoke billowed out of my brother's ears, while I contemplated throwing that thing on the train tracks.
  14. They're awfully cocky for a bottom 4 team, aren't they? I had to laugh last year when a Hawthorn-barracking relative told me "You Melbourne supporters have become arrogant since winning the Premiership". I've put up with 40 years of his arrogance!
  15. I wasn't disappointed in JVR, I'm just saying in a game like that, given that in the first quarter Gawn was being rested for sequential hit outs, I'd have preferred to have Grundy at the realm instead of the inexperience of JVR, if Gawn gets injured, without Grundy, we're cooked.
  16. In: Oliver, Grundy Out: Petty, Harmes If one thing showed anything, it was that we really needed to have that second ruck with a side that has two rucks. Rooey did his best, but he's not experienced enough yet. We really could have done with Grundy yesterday.
  17. There was a row of Tigers bogans next to the Demon Army that was ejected for just being general lowlives. Yelling insults to Ryan (the head of the cheersquad with the white hair and overall legend), offensive behaviour to a woman in the row in front of them, swearing, general obnoxious behaviour. Quite a few of them refused to go when security asked them to, and one of them was swearing profusely at a guard. One had a smeer on his face that would rival Billy Idol. The supporters are fun to watch when they lose...... Last year in the same bay, at the ANZAC Eve match, I had one rabid support yell in my face that we were all cheats, as she left the game 10 minutes early. They're seriously worse than Collingwood with the saltiness.
  18. Exactly, we've lacked it to a certain extent since TMac got injured. I believe it's a key aspect as to why our forward line hasn't been firing as well. Drop Brown, fine, but then bring in that leadership. Grundy is experienced enough to do that.
  19. The thing is, we need leadership in the forward line. Brown was providing that. Petty is still young, and hasn't played enough in the forward to provide leadership.
  20. Considering Brown has been omitted, I'd say Grundy is in
