  1. In my mind, we are gunning for Bucks and a senior assistant midfield and strategy coach. Bucks commands the players, drives standards and culture. Our new senior assistant (i am hoping Cam Bruce) will drive the strategy of the modern game.
  2. Kiddy Coleman is made of glass, cannot get fit. Same as Treloar. McIntosh is the sub most games at richmond at shouldn't be near a best 22 next year.
  3. With this monster contract, the Windhager deal must be pursued hard now
  4. https://www.3aw.com.au/geelong-assistant-coach-steven-king-throws-his-hat-in-the-ring-for-melbourne-coaching-job/
  5. Great win against the ladder leaders!! Surging into finals
  6. Hawks well off the boil after the first quarter and we couldnt get close, rancid game.
  7. AFL app stated injury
  8. Huge benefits for playing out the year with our strongest side Essendon death ride, who wants to give them a decent pick? Experience - these final games will be against contenders trying to get into their best form the year. Treat them like 'finals' so our younger brigade can get some insight into that step up in intensity. New coach: Some of these players will be needing to justify their positions in the squad next year, some just want to impress as many potential coaches as possible Spite - would love to mess both the Hawks and Pies
  9. Couldn't imagine how destitute our forward would look with Melksham retiring in 2026 or so, and no Fritta.
  10. So Goody was not blindsided, he knew his job was in trouble. He knew the board meeting was coming. He knew we just copped an all times terrible defeat to the saints. He knew we had a terrible win loss ratio for the last 2 years. Presumably he had heard whispers about us approaching Beveridge earlier in the year and after all that, he did not think to fight for his job at that board meeting?
  11. He was moved to the wing half way through the year at Casey
  12. Even if he does not become our no 1 centre bounce star, he is an immediate upgrade on Spargo, Sparrow, Sharp, Kolt and Henderson who all have featured throughout the year. We are screaming for ready-made depth to support the younger brigade.
  13. Edit this monstrosity of a post
  14. Exactly the player we need. Although we lack capital for top draft/trade prospects. Our NGA and father/son options this year are very exciting. I'll definitely tune in this week to see him in action v Box Hill.
  15. Buckley head coach with Bruce midfield would be exciting
  16. Liam Ryan - if McVee is out the door, McVee for Ryan + WC 2nd round? Re Windhager, is he a restricted free agent? If so, would that 2nd rounder get it done? If i am the new head coach, I'm telling Viney to lose 5kg, hit the running track and get used to a forward line role. I'm also hoping a new VC is put in place to begin the succession plan for Max and which gives the chance to drop Viney if he cannot adapt to a new role.
  17. It's not suspicious, they're criticising our leadership. From our leaky executive group down to the senior players. We are spoon feeding them content at this point.
  18. The criticism is legitimate The new coach will have to ask brand Petracca if he truly committed to this club
  19. There's been so much contradictory information about this topic that I'm just believing none of these journos. We want an experienced senior, but we are open to a first timer but its Buckley's job to lose but according to Simpson, we never called him. Just throwing mud and seeing what sticks. Green said he called Goodwin after a board meeting were they made the decision. Im believing Green.
  20. Some fun positional changes could be Lindsay in > half back. Rivers takes Windsor's centre bounce minutes. Lindsay in > Midfield. Howes moves to the wing. Langford forward. Adams and May play together. Lindsay in > wing. Harvey takes Windsors centre bounces minutes. Culley stays on the opposite wing. I like Lindsay at HB as he has neat skills, leg speed and a superior marking game to Windsor.
  21. Yeah the speed discussion is interesting, IMO he does not have much burst. But he cruises around the ground at high speed. Check the telstra tacker on the AFL site - he does not feature in the top 5 for sprints at all, but for average speed is =1st with Sparrow (9.7), 2nd Chandler (9.6), 3rd Langdon (9.5), 4th Libba (9.4). Also lands himself first at work rate in attack 9.7, and 4th for work rate in defence 9.0.
  22. It was not necessarily a new game plan. But we started the year with a very aggressive style, and as we struggled in games we became more conservative again. For instance, start of year/yesterday we embraced risk through use of the corridor. At the start of the year when we chipped around in D50, we looked to move ball into the centre square. During the middle part of the year, we played a lot more long down the line footy. Similarly, we largely abandoned the run and gun hand ball game from d50 which was also more on display here.
  23. He started the year playing as a pure midfielder. I think the idea was because of his size, throw him in at centre bounce. However, he didn't really excel in this role - no burst from stoppage and rushed his disposals. So they shifted him to wing/half forward and he was able to use his strengths a lot more, high work rate, aerial marking, and able to sneak forward to get a goal. We also had Lindsay performing very well on the wing for most of the year which made it harder for Jai to break into the team.
