Blake Howes appreciation thread.
Please, Long kicked +40 goals as a medium tall last year and Lombard is a highly rated young player

POSTGAME: Rd 04 vs Gold Coast
When you combine elite speed with aggressive tackling, it's absolute fireworks. Unreal win, can't believe it.

GAMEDAY: Rd 04 vs Gold Coast
Best in form tall in the comp

GAMEDAY: Rd 04 vs Gold Coast
Contest and pressure is immense, looking fast but still untidy

GAMEDAY: Rd 04 vs Gold Coast
Winning clearances this q is immense too

GAMEDAY: Rd 04 vs Gold Coast
Working our way into this game, we can compete for sure

CASEY: Rd 03 vs Box Hill
Onley may find himself in the backline with Adams really struggling. Onley struggles to win his own ball but could be crafted into a similar role Howes plays in the 1s.

Dees under fire regarding sensitive and personal information.
This is quite amateur, how can you blame the leaker when the actions taken by the club ethically and legally questionable. Whatever flak we get here, we completely deserve it.

PREGAME: Rd 04 vs Gold Coast
Goody did well by a lot of players to help them reach their full potential, Howes was not one of them. Playing him as last man in the goal square was torture to watch. Loved what he's brought this year.

PREGAME: Rd 04 vs Gold Coast
Melk to be our 4th quarter impact player on very limited minutes
-
Ours is fastest ball speed(!)
Shout out to Big Rick too

Who is the new kicking coach? Give him a contract extension!

PREGAME: Rd 04 vs Gold Coast
All of AJ, Kentfield and Jeffo are due to return from injury, just as Fritsch goes out Fierce competition for that 3rd tall spot

PREGAME: Rd 04 vs Gold Coast
He is just so slow and has no acceleration. Our defence is now pushing up hard to contribute on offence, when it goes wrong, and the ball goes out the back - Salem is never catching his man. I think our best mix has Riv and Bowey/AMW replacing Salem and CJ. Even Kolt is showing some good signs off HB. But there is certainly room for him our 23 while Bowey is out.

I am not sure our skills have improved that much - our first half showed under pressure we still can fumble and fail to execute on basic disposals. But what we have done is use our speed to spread and create clear, simple options that clearly chain together. At our best, we look to have a clear process of moving the ball through the wings from d50 and moving the ball from centre bounce forward to create cleaner clearances.

Welcome to Demonland: Jack Steele
A moment I loved in the Carlton game; after Cripps kicked a goal against Kolt, Cripps immediately attempts to get stuck into Kolt and a big pack forms around the two, Steele quietly pulls Kolt out of the crowd and settles him down. His tackling and contest work have been amazing, but he shows genuine leadership shown in moments like this.

PREGAME: Rd 03 vs Carlton
This was Rivers year to step up big time into a high performing mid and hasn't really impressed. Huge statement to drop him and I don't mind it.

Nice fight back from Kozzy

NON-MFC: Round 02
Unreal from Bakes

PREGAME: Rd 02 vs Fremantle
I think this is a case of pick your poison We either go tall, and lose a lot of speed and run Or we go short, and we struggle against their rucks and forwards. Kings approach right now seems to be sticking to our strengths and game style, so we play a shorter side and hope we can win the shoot out

PREGAME: Rd 02 vs Fremantle
An extra tall makes sense against Freo. We will be able to run out the game better with one game under our belt, and Freo's tall defender stocks seem limited.

POSTGAME: Rd 01 vs St. Kilda
Sharp had a very low time on ground but had a huge impact. His best AFL traits are his goal sense, while the running power is good he just can't dispose of the ball well after those long runs. This new role could help him be a very impactful forward.

GAMEDAY: Rd 01 vs St. Kilda
It's not perfect, buts it's fast, fun and competitive. Roo and Checkers are a great pair.

NON-MFC: Round 01
Neal-Bullen is all class

NON-MFC: 2026 Opening Round
Bad start for Flanders, you'd want your new no 1 mid to be making an immediate impact
