The Midfield - where do the Demons stand?
There's a bunch of bizarre parallels between us and the Bucks - they've both gone through big coaching changes largely pushed by their stars (Giannis/Petracca). They also blew up their championship team and cut loose some players for well unders (Dame Lillard/Clayton Oliver) Lastly they also went out in straight sets in '22 and '23 as well

PRESEASON TRAINING: Wednesday 10th December 2025
He's a Dees fanatic, grew up around Maxy and other club legends. He's already capable of playing VFL, he does not need another year in the QLD b-leagues.

TV Rights Moving Forward
DAZN has done horrible things to boxing and other sports media, would hate to see them get the deal

Blake Howes 2026
Xavier Taylor would immediately take Howes spot in the backline Play him on the wing or as a 3rd banana tall

AFL Draft 2025: Preseason and Rookie Draft
Hoping for a Sinema rookie pick 🤞 Most likely he will have to fight it out in the SSP period
-
AFL Draft 2025: Picks 7 & 8
Between Farrow/Nairn - we have options forward/mid/back for the future. Both tick the positional flexibility requirement. Also shows us why a small forward is not high on our priority list - Dovaston/Pickett can play one position.

PRESEASON TRAINING: Wednesday 12th November 2025
Kolt looked quite trim in some of the training photos, good to hear he was running well

Bailey Laurie to half-back in 2026?
I'd like to see him play at least 2 games in his preferred position before the years end If Viney/Steele have any extended period of injury he naturally replaces them

Sam Grlj
I do not see the Butters comparison as he does not move through traffic particularly well, he is very fast but he runs himself into trouble running in straight lines, where I see Butters as being a lot more evasive. I wonder if he would do well re-purposed as a speedy half forward in his first few years.

Wildcard Round
Halfway into the last season, the top 8 was effectively settled and there was absolutely nothing to play for. For this reason alone, I am interested to see how this goes.

AFL Draft 2025: Picks 7 & 8
Perhaps with Windsor, we already have a speedster with suspect ball use. Farrow has the potential to slot right in at HB, has better ball use and some scope to go into the midfield later.

Sam Cumming
He is the next best Mid/Forward after Robey. He will be in our sights for this reason alone I think. Landing a gamer ala James Jordon would not be a bad outcome in a middling draft, he landed 3rd in their BnF anyway. You're only as strong as your weakest link as they say.

Dawn of a new Era - Paul Guerra article 18.10.2025
I think we will probably finish 14th as we did this year I think Richmond over achieved last year, and WC and North have not improved very much Port and Essendon will be down here as well IMO

AFL Draft 2025: Picks 7 & 8
I think what makes this draft weaker than others are the question marks over a couple of fairly talented players between 5-15. I expect Rich/WC/Dons to take Duursma/Sharp/Grjl or Robey by 7 and 8. Therefore, we are left with some key position players or questionable mids. Therefore, I think the smart decision is to trade up to access a player you are very confident will be good (likely Robey) and then slide to pick a more speculative later pick such as Jevan Phillipou or Oskar Taylor. At 7/8 I think both will end up as speculative.

AFL Draft 2025: Picks 7 & 8
With questions about this drafts quality outside the academy selections, midfielders are the safest bet. I don't think it's the right time pick a small forward in the top 10, even though we do have this gap on our list. I'm going for Lindsay/Grjl and hoping to snag young Pickett with 37.

Grading the Trade Week
Hawks lost a stack of depth, have a poor draft hand no notable f/s and NGAS to recruit.
