  1. We will manage our players without dropping them through reducing TOG. May will get a rest as the ball will not be in our D50. Max can also spend time behind the ball while JVR is doing the F50 rucking. Either way, it is full steam ahead right now, we've put the work in during the season to let it rip till finals. All gas no breaks. In: Clarry (I hope), Sparrow (if fit) Out: JJ, Harmes I'd also consider Hibbo for Bowey/McVee. Hibbo is too good for the VFL but so are the other two. Gus may play extra backline minutes with 2 mids returning, but I think Hibbo is best 22 and needs to fit in somewhere.
  2. <100 inside 50s possible with our game style and form
  3. Tigers were cheeky and moved Balta forward after he was subbed, but it was too little too late
  4. Harmsey had some good touches but wasted his chances with his awful set shots
  5. We won the 2nd quarter and will surge in the 3rd let's goo!!
  6. Smith should be best 22 as I believe all subs are named in the outs, unless they are moved into the 22.
  7. Not only has Goodwin's tenure been awesome, I truly enjoy watching this team play. Goodwin said that as supporters, we need to buy into the contest and defensive work and not just the flashy forward of center things. I love the guts and hardness that this team shows. Whenever i see our boys gut running hard to support a team mate, I love it as much as the flashy quick ball movement.
  8. I do think TMAC is a smokey to return.
  9. Frankly both of the King boys are busts, can barely get on the park and output is inconsistent to very poor week to week
  10. I would like to see 3 picks used over 1 Harley because our development system is elite. Harley will be a great player, somewhat regardless of where he goes, but 2-3 top picks going into our amazing development system will yield amazing results.
  11. This is where the hot streak keeps gaining momentum. We will crush their midfield, our backline will stay robust and our forwards will continue to build synergy. Dees easily 30+
  12. These journos will forever be plotting and predicting our down fall. Our forward line was on 'life support' until it wasn't. We were at risk of dropping out of the top 4, until we weren't. I see no reason why he couldn't produce a game like JVR did against Brisbane. Follow leading patterns, bring the ball to ground, and ruck in the forward line and the occasional centre bounce. I also see him being able to lead up the ground and link up from forward 50, leaving space and opportunity for other forwards, just like TMAC did in past years. I don't think he will ever become a great contested mark, or develop crafty forward skills but that doesn't mean he can't work in a forward 50 role. Barret is a slug and I will enjoy seeing these journos dumbfounded when we hold up another cup this year.
  13. Isn't it the whole point of this thread and forum to discuss and share ideas about this team? Good analysis isn't always the most accurate or precise, but sometimes one that generates good discussion.
  14. Stafford being a former ruck may give us an interesting look to make this work
  15. Brisbane brought Gunston behind the ball at the end of the first quarter as well. Brilliance from the coaches box, or maybe from Ed, maybe both.
  16. Joel Smith has staked a claim to be played as a genuine swingman in the best 22. Has looked really good as forward and Backman at times.
  17. In: supporters who believe in this team Out: sorry sacks
  18. The ideal would have been Gawn or Grundy playing complete forward 50 role, but that just hasn't happened. Hopefully this shows some promising flexibility from Goody. It's also likely Grundy has some more years left compared to Gawn (just by my eye test), so we have a back up AA ruck if/when Gawn retires.
  19. It might be that the plan was to get as much forward line presence from both big men during the year, then let Gawn rip with full minutes in the late part of the year. We absolutely have a lot to gain with a KPF or extra runner replacing Grundy. But we need to get the timing juuuuust right.
  20. Agreed, without Grundy, Gawn would have had to continue to play big TOG% and play through injuries and niggles. We have been effectively managing him, in game, to preserve him long term.
  21. I have no questions about his work rate or endeavor. But he is at his best with ball in hand. He looked lost around the packs when i watched the replay. He is a point of difference with his speed and aggression but it just not on show at the moment.
