  1. Until St Kilda win a meaningful final, that's all this mob will be talking about for years to come. If only we could've held our nerve for 10 seconds...nobody would be talking about a draw.
  2. I think Hinkley would be a good hire if you want to sneak into the 8. He'd squeeze everything out of the list and have us around the 7th to 10th area for the next 3 years. However, his finals record was pretty damn ordinary as there was often one major let down in which they had their finals destiny in their own hands - eg: the 2020 and 2021 COVID prelims where they had the luxurious position of staying home in September, or last year's 80 point home thumping to the Cats in week 1 finals. We can do better than Ken.
  3. First time I’ve had a good look at Kentfield. I’m a subscriber after that set shot.
  4. Impressed with Adams’s start. Can see him being a part of our defence next year.
  5. This quote from Jack Viney in his post season club website interview gives me a bit of hope with respect to a new voice. “With 9 or 10 years of Goody I guess there was a level of comfortability within the group”
  6. Robbo was interesting on the DeeBrief podcast. He was continually open about the fact that he's well connected with the club and particularly Brad Green. When asked about what he was looking forward to for 2025, (and he's bullish about 2025), one of the items he mentioned was: "Can't wait for Harvey Langford to have another year with Max, Trac....*pause* not sure what's happening with Clarry to be honest" Interesting that Robbo rattled of Trac's name for next year but had a pause with Clarry, as if to say "yep Trac's more likely to stay than Clarry."
  7. Despite May getting roundly criticised for his two performances against Hawthorn and Collingwood he actually got coaches votes in one of those games, would you believe?
  8. I asked a few posters on the GWS forum what their thoughts were on Derksen and they all agreed that he was miles behind the likes of Taylor, Buckley and Alir. And this was before he got injured. Sounds like a Casey addition if he comes over.
  9. I wouldn't read too much into this as the author of the story is as die hard a Bulldogs supporter as they come. He's probably still reeling from seeing his team get monstered by the Freo attack and then thought of a defender that could potentially help them.
  10. Both players had to be rewarded with another year. Melk kicked his most goals in a season and T Mac was more than serviceable down back. Jake Melksham kicking the ball into an open inside 50 when we've got the oppo's defence on the ropes is a thing of beauty. Look forward to more of that next year.
  11. He would be the first I'd move out of him, Lever, Trac, Clarry and Fritta due to his age and other talked about issues. However, he's still a quality player and we saw the difference between an invested May against Collingwood and a disinterested May the week before. He was 500% better against Collingwood.
  12. Clever fixturing to have all 4 games on at basically the same time.
  13. I don't believe he did, however he was involved in getting them from the 1999 wooden spooners to two losing grand finals in 2002 and 2003. Re: Adelaide, I think they'll fall short and are a straight set exit candidate. Rankine is absolutely irreplaceable and I don't think their talent spreads as far as Geelong, Collingwood and Brisbane. Like the Dogs theit bottom 6 players are nowhere near as good as others.
  14. Hard to know what's more important: Player availability which he excelled in this year. Or the ability to win close games and dominate last quarters which he indirectly failed in his brief. Either way, back to back 14th placed finishes is going to cost jobs, and given he's out of contract you'd have a hard time convincing yourself that he'll be returning next year.
  15. Not great I’d suspect.
  16. Imagine having to now rely on Essendon to get you into finals.
  17. A very on brand Bevo pre finals choke performance today by the Dogs. Saw some vulnerabilities in their game when we played them the other week.
  18. My thoughts too. The last 2 weeks at the G it’s felt like supporting an interstate side, such was the lack of noise after a goal. It got a bit better in the second half last night, but the supporters have unsurprisingly called it a day the last fortnight.
  19. We need not have bidded on Levi Ashcroft. This guy has more upside.. Langford, Clarry and Hogan have clearly had the most accomplished debut seasons for our club in recent years. He hit a high watermark last night and I’m sure that the four clubs that overlooked him in the draft may have a bit of buyers remorse. (Although Lalor looked fantastic early days and Smith had an ACL)
  20. Yes Culley was in the hands of the trainer and walked off gingerly. He was the logical player to get subbed out at the time.
  21. It’s not the close losses to GWS, Pies x2, Dogs and Adelaide that bother me and have let us down for the season. It’s the losses to BOG ordinary sides like St Kilda, Essendon, North, Port and Carlton that have been a stain on the season. If we brought last night to those sides then we have a record of about 12-11 and a fraction off the 8. And that’s not factoring the toss of the coin losses to the good sides. Hopefully a new coach can give this team belief to hold onto the close ones like McRae did on 2022, and we could shoot up the ladder accordingly as long as we don’t go all rebuild mode in October.
  22. So do I but in order for the Pies to have the opportunity go out in straight sets they’ll need a percentage booster tonight over us.
  23. Agreed. He’s done so well not to get rubbed out this year. Would cap off a dresdful season if he were to miss the first 2-4 games once again. I’ll call tonight a win if we stays out of the umpires notebook and the Pies have a very modest win costing them top 4.
  24. 1) yeah the last 2 seasons have absolutely done my head in, in terms of the onfield product we dish up, and the sooner I can accept we’re a genuine bottom 4 team the better. The core premiership players do not appear to be taking this club any further, and it’s the younger brigade plus the hope (rather than expectation) of some savy and aggressive trading are the way forward. 2) yes I was thinking of Mitch not Jeremy. The former was playing decent footy as a defender for a while but I’m in agreement that he’s probably coming to an end. 3) my post was more of a reflection of May than McGovern. I think it would be best for all parties if May was traded or calls time a year early if that’s the quality of footy he’ll be producing next year.
  25. Phoned it in at selections. Presumably we’ll phone it in on the field too.
