  1. Goodwin should implement a new rule. If you’ve had an injury interrupted pre season and you don’t appear in either the match simulation or the practice match, then you don’t play the opening game like they did with Spargo. Spargo when he’s o. top of his game is a very useful asset due to his disposal and smarts in the forward half, but overall he’s a pretty inconsistent player.
  2. I heard that Trac and Oliver will be the top 5 earners next year in the AFL. Clearly our success or failure will be defined by these two. No Trac and a hobbled Oliver resulted in a 4-7 scoreline from Kings B'day onwards, with the only wins coming against quite frankly rubbish or mediocre teams.
  3. I actually have a very very funny feeling that Foxtel will provide it's own production, commentators and graphics, on Friday nights, and every other channel 7 game for that matter. Time will tell.
  4. Confirming Teague’s a no according to one of the journos, think it was Tom Morris.
  5. So just to clarify, on any given Friday night game next year we won’t have to put up with BT’s mistake riddled calls, and instead watch a Foxtel production of the same game??
  6. Is he the bloke that kicked the winning goal against us late in the year?
  7. The 1:10pm Sunday time slot is actually a great crowd puller for families and IMO would draw better crowds than Saturday night games in winter which we had a bunch of this year. Carlton V Hawthorn drew 84K for the early Sunday game and we also attracted a very surprising 32K to our early game against West Coast on the back of some very ordinary form. Had that game been a Saturday night game, we would’ve no don’t struggled to get 20K. I do agree with your point that attractive winning footy will see the crowds increase.
  8. I’d imagine we won’t be be bending over backwards to assist GWS if they want another Toby Bedford from us. They turned a pick in the 40’s into a very nice player, and didn’t particularly repay the goodwill 2 years later.
  9. The irony is our supporter base favour the 1:10 starts on Sunday.
  10. 100% spot on (and he also backed it up with 2 goals in the Hawks semi). According to the coaches votes Weid got 9 votes in the 2018 Geelong final and Harmes got 8. Pretty amazing to think that two of our lesser lights were our best 2 players in one of the club’s most famous wins this century. I also thought Weid was showing progression in mid 2020 season.
  11. I don’t rate him but he did get a hold of May and Co this year with 3 snags and 7 marks. Wouldn’t be a better option than Turner in terms of best 23, but you can never have enough depth.
  12. That absolutely stings as a Melbourne supporter to hear that. The media were spot on in July. Houston was all but coming to the Dees. Now we get to watch him rip it up for Collingwood and probably earn his third straight AA. Hopefully this closes the chapter on a diabolical year or 2 and we can now start to regain some respect on and off the field.
  13. I assume it’s Tomlinson wanting to move rather for than us wanting him gone. If it’s the former, good luck to him and he should seek a regular spot somewhere. If it’s the latter and Tomo was willing to take a pay cut then it’s a poor list management decision given May and Lever are getting a year older and our defensive depth will be relied upon.
  14. He beat May and co on Kings Bday this year. Probably the only good game he’s ever played.
  15. If we’re going with the JVR, Petty and Turner combo again (and Jefferson doesn’t come on) they simply need to kick more goals. We were AFL #14 for points which tells me that our 3 talls need give a fair bit more. Particularly Petty who kicked 9.15 from 18/19 games as a forward and maybe 1/2 games as a defender. That is quite frankly atrocious. I don’t know how you spin it anyway. JVR should aim for a minimum of 38 goals but ideally into the low 40’s next year. Turner was probably the surprise packet of the year given we all assumed he’d be a defender this year. 17 goals from 15 games suggests to me that he’s capable of a 30 goals season. He’s a quality set shot. So in answer to the question, the club must be satisfied with their forward stocks and didn’t see the need in recruiting B Graders in the form of Membrey, Day or Darling.
  16. No AFL highlights on the MFC forum for Sharp but there’s a dodgy clip of one of his AFL goals on YouTube. edit - tried to post on this thread but no luck
  17. That's actually his strength as a player. He does something with it. Quality not quantity. His inside 50 entries are elite and something our club could only dream of. I can see your point about Butters, Rozee and JHF getting all the attention though.
  18. Agree with this. Listened to McClure last night who is so desperate for Santa to deliver him the Oliver trade for his Christmas present. Not a word spoken about Oliver last night after dedicating 50% of very show last week to him.
  19. If he's not in the main group on day 1 pre season, then I think we all know where this is heading again. Needs a massive December on the track and avoid soft tissue injuries for the entire summer.
  20. McClure on 3AW said it was completely unfair on all the VIC clubs and could not believe this was going ahead. At the end of the day, it's their home ground. They're entitled to play as many games they like down there. Their home finals get played away from their home ground, which more often than not is their undoing.
  21. Yes please. But I know that ship has sailed. Absolute gun. Reigning 2 X All Australian and has previously kicked the winning goal after the siren from 55 meters out in wet conditions are probably an indication
  22. I'm struggling to see the outrage in this as per above. Means that one more VIC powerhouse has to go down to pay Geelong (eg - Carlton, Essendon or Collingwood) rather than JUST the usual third class citizens like us, the Dogs and North. Having said that, nothing surer than Collingwood playing Geelong once next year, with Collingwood being the home team. Or if they do play twice, Geelong will be the home team.... .....at Gather Round.
  23. Any chance we can trade Tomlinson to Collingwood for a future 4th rounder rather than letting him walk as a delisted FA. I'd actually rather keep him as you can never have enough depth and he'll give you a solid 6/10 performance most weeks when he's recalled to the seniors?
  24. 100% spot on with Montagna, but he’d had enough of us by years end, and rightly so.
  25. I don’t see the issue of a token debut in a token game of footy that was round 24. The game was absolute bush league level. We were clearly shooting for a higher draft pick given the high probability that St Kilda and Suns were winning. If we were fair dinkum we wouldn’t have warehoused May and got Lever out of his sick bed. Compare the effort we put in against the Suns compared to the Pies. Therefore what harm would’ve it done giving Sestan or Jeffo a taste?
