  1. Have to agree with those ins. Although Carroll would have to be in the mix. Just depends if they want to throw Frawley to the wolves. FWIW I don't rate Frawley.
  2. Too balance your argument, Essendon were missing Davey, Houli, Lucas, McVeigh to name a few. I actually take my hat off to Essendon for winning games with the largest injury list in the AFL - unlike Carlton and Richmond.
  3. That's the problem with watching afl.com live overseas. You see him getting 25 odd touches and 3 goals and you think 'WOW that must have been an impressive performance! But still, he's kicked a bag of 3 goals twice- which Cotchin, Palmer and Masten haven't achieved.
  4. I wonder why Juice isn't out there today given our severe lack of key forwards? It would've been a good opportunity for Juice to show why he deserved the 2 year extension.
  5. Same could be said for Richmond. Polak and mabye one other regular is missing from their best 22.
  6. Controversial re-signing for Juice. Should've been given 1 year under the circumstances. And he's been re-signed on the weekend he gets dropped. hmm Bate - happy Garland - great Jones - fantastic Petterd - excellent (make sure GC don't get their grubby hands on him) Frawley- the club obviously sees something in him that I don't.
  7. Sure he gets heap of touches, but it's what you do with it that matters. If he uses it effectively, and can competently hit a target, then he gets another contract. Sounds like he's been one of our 'good news' stories for the year.
  8. My perfect end to the season Beat Essendon by 2 goals Lose to Geelong by 8 goals (lets be realistic) Beat West Coke by 5 goals Lose to Port by 11 pts Lose to Richmond by 7pts We have 1st pick in the ND and PSD (assuming West Coast win at least 4) We get the Priority Pick Get a couple of wins Improve our effort at AAMI Give Richmond one almighty scare as they fight for a finals spot. I give us a sniff V Essendon this week.
  9. The guy I thought would be a gun after watching him in a NAB CUP game in Darwin in 2006
  10. I reckon we're a slight chance this week: 1) Essendon can't play as well as they did last week. They are a very topsy turvy side. 2) We welcome back Green, Wheatley and Aussie who have been in our best 6 players this years 3) Our perceived weak forward line could be out strength due to its unpredictability. 4) Have a good record over Essendon at the MCG over the last 4 years.
  11. Anyone for Colin Sylvia
  12. This is a bloody big business that these players are in and they should be held accountable to us - the members who pay their wages, and I'm assuming most of us seasoned posters are members. If Colin Garland drops 2 easy marks in a row in the space of a minute against the Bulldos (in rd 2) then I think its acceptable to have a go at him. If Daniel Bell concedes 3 goals in a quarter, then I think its acceptable to have a go at him. If Michael Newton's attitude it not up to AFL standard, then I think its acceptable to have a go at him. As Diablo said, these players earn a crap load of money (as opposed to you and I) and nobody has forced them to play AFL. As long as the criticism is not personal or offensive or obsessive like YM's tirade on Bruce than its open slather. ACCEPTABLE: Player x was pathetic today. (I'm sure the player in question agrees) NOT ACCEPTABLE: Player X is a [censored]. I hate Player X.
  13. Re Sylvia. I'm sure if we shopped Sylvia around, at least one club will be seduced by his preceived talent, and offer a second round draft pick.
  14. Paul Johnson Valenti Chris Johnson Buckley Davey Jones and we can laugh at Fremantle for winning a meaningless game, hense all but losing their priority pick.
  15. correct!!!! So if Maric gets 21 touches, 7 marks and 3 goals, he's smashed the record of all debutants. No pressure Most touches - Petterd (20) rd 5 2007 V Sydney Least touches - Rivers (0) rd 19 V Geelong Most Goals - Dunn (2) Rd 6 2006 V Geelong Most Marks - Carroll (6) Rd 4 2003 V Geelong
  16. Correct!!!! rd 19 2003 V Geelong Now just the goal question? Which current player kicked 2 goals on debut? Wow this hasn't lasted long
  17. The following questions revolve around the current list, so ignore players that exited before 2008. Which current MFC player polled the highest amount of possessions on debut with 20? Which current MFC player polled the lowest amount of possessions on debut? Which current MFC player kicked the most goals on debut with just 2!!? Can Addam Maric break any of these records? As you can see, there haven't been any amazing debuts statistically or goal kicking wise when you look at the current list. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Brent Moloney actually gained 24 possessions (and 3 brownlow votes) in his MFC debut in 2005 V Essendon, but he doesn't fit the above criteria as he had already debuted for Geelong in 2003. Nathan Carroll of all players holds the record for most marks on debut with 6 back in round 4 2003 V Geelong I'll post answers in a day or so.
  18. What's he going to say? "MFC are stuffed" Non news story, and it would reflect poorly on his tenure as AFL CEO if one of his clubs went 'belly-up'
  19. I'd be in favour of Davis if we could draft him with our 5th round draft pick (if Warnock re-signs with Freo) and he's prepared to play at a rookies wage or performance based contract. The guy's a gun on his day- fantastic mark for his size, a proven goal kicker and almost single handedly won his side the 06' flag...not to mention that heroic last qtr V Geelong in the 2005 semi final. Yes his main negative is that he's a selfish tool, but I hear he's improved as a person. Sometimes you've gotta take risks to succeed, and I could see Davis being our leading goal kicker next year with 55-60 gls. But the club won't go for him due to our under 23 policy, and thats fair enough.
  20. Why not have both? When Dutchy played in rd 9 V Hawthorn, he shared the goal square with Robbo, and that worked quite well to an extent. Just put him down there, deep in the square to educate and provide guidance to Newton and take a valuable defender away from the likes of Miller, Bate or Newton. I'm in the USA and I can tell from here that our forward line is not working at the moment. We struggle to kick 10 goals! I take your point about Holland being in the 'twilight' but I believe our forward line would improve with the addition of #4. Holland's last 3 games played in the forward line: Rd 18 2007 V Sydney - 3 goals Rd 19 2007 V Dogs - 4 goals Rd 9 2008 V Hawthorn - 3 goals Pretty good output if you ask me!
