Bentley's played 21 games over 3 years. 187 cms. Played quite a few games in Port's good 2007 season. Last played in round 18 V's St Kilda when he jagged 21 touches and a goal.

So how do you address our forward line which was statistically the worst? And as I mentioned previously, McGregor would not come at the expense of a draft pick, as we've traded a player (Bell) for him so we maintain our quota of draft picks. Plus Bell may need a fresh start, heck he was our whipping boy all year. This from bigfooty trade/draft board: According to someone on the Port board, Bailey is keen on Greg Bentley and might be headed to Melbourne (source is one of Bentleys SANFL teammates) so maybe a Bell-Bentley trade might be on the cards. I have it on very good authority that your coach is very keen for bentley
-
No rumours mate. I just feel that it would be a beneficial trade to let Bell go back home. Had a poor season, so may need a change of environment while we get a draft pick or possibly a player. A third round trade or a Greg Bentley would suffice.

Daniel Bell -----------> Adelaide Ken McGregor -------> Melbourne No draft picks involved. We get a handy player who can pinch hit up forward or down back, capable of kicking 30 goals in a season and can kick bags of 4 or 5 goals per game. Is contracted for 2009, so hopefully Adelaide can pay a bit of his salary. I doubt he'd be in Adelaide's future plans, but isn't overly old at 27. Another advantage is that we don't give up a draft pick for Mc Gregor, so we're maintaining our youth policy while addressing our impotent forward line.

This would be the ultimate result for the MFC. So obviously it won't happen. Pretty sure Mundy will go to Hawthorn.

2008 Player Review - # 12 Colin Sylvia
Bring-Back-Powell replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
Clearly his best season in terms of games, goals, stats and consistency output. May be just about to hit his straps and potentially become a top 50 player in the AFL. And he's finally ready to embark on a full..yes full pre season. Talks of trading him are redicoulous considering we'd only be able to fetch a third round draft pick for him. -
2008 Player Review - #10 Cale Morton
Bring-Back-Powell replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
One only needs to look at his game against Essendon. 3 goals and about 28 touches. Close thread. -
I would much rather get rid of unskilled players who can't hit targets like Bell or Bartram than Sylvia who CAN play really good, classy footy and kick his 4 goals on the odd occasion. However I do agree with you in that he's currency may be as high it will ever get. If we can trade him for early 2nd round than I'd consider, however clubs topping up for premierships like Hawthorn, Collingwood, Dogs would only be able to offer us pick 32ish...which is not acceptable.
-
Great. So not only do we miss out on talent, we also lose one of the rare talented players that we actually have on the list for a speculative pick in the 30's. Keep Sylvia. He had his most consistent year, and he's finally fit and ready for that all important pre season.

Can we redraft Jeff White in the PSD now

2008 Player review - #8 James Frawley
Bring-Back-Powell replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
Why do clubs sign 20 year olds on 2 year contracts who are yet to convince that they will be capable AFL players. I would've thought a 1 year contract would've been more appropriate in Frawley's (and Newton's) case. What happens if he languishes in the VFL next year...we're stuck with the player for the second year when he's actually delisting material and lacking trade currency. I've been hard on Frawley. Hopefully he'll blossom next year and vindicate Cameron's decision in taking him at pick 12 back in 06'. I like it how he shows a bit of run and dash out of defense but can he actually stop his opponent from kicking goals? Didn't see his last few games of the year so would appreciate feedback. -
Our power point presentation must have been a hit

Jeff White and Adam Yze cut saves Dees $1 million
Bring-Back-Powell replied to Mousey's topic in Melbourne Demons
As if Essendon would let Davey go. He's one of the rare talented youngsters they've got. Please Demon supporters, don't pin your hopes on Alwyn coming to Melbourne. As Bailey and Stynes have said, we're not interested in trading picks, and I reckon we'll use our PSD pick on a kid that got overlooked in the national draft. The club won't take quick fixes at this stage. -
2008 Player Review - #2 Nathan Jones
Bring-Back-Powell replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
Point in case being the second Hawthorn game where he kicked a couple of critical goals, while McLean was racking up the touches in the centre. If you looked at the best players in the first 14 weeks, you'll find that Jones featured heavily and l reckon he'll be leading the B & F at the half-way point. -
2008 Player Review - #5 Brock McLean
Bring-Back-Powell replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
I thought he was awesome between rounds 3 to 14. Those 3 MCG games against Fremantle, Hawthorn and Collingwood were vintage McLean at his best. I reckon he'll snag about 6 votes in 3 games. Also had 20 touches to half time against the premiers and was solid against Carlton in round 5. I'd be interested to see how we go next year if McLean, Rivers, Davey, Moloney Green (if still at MFC) and Bruce all play 20+ games next year. I agree with others in that he's our best player. I know it doesn't matter, but I hope he has a big year next year and opposition supporters take note and realise that we have a genuine gun at the MFC...because at the moment would any club want any of our players in their best 22? -
Prismall will stay at Geelong. Don't underestimate how tight-knit this club is. They showed faith in Lonergan and look at him now. Also Blake stayed at Geelong even after the humilation of being dropped for the GF. I would only trade a token 5th round draft pick for him. I'd rather target a disgruntled 23 year old who is fit and ready to play round 1 for us next year.

2008 Player Review - #2 Nathan Jones
Bring-Back-Powell replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
Jones played his worst footy after round 14, when McLean went down. Interesting correlation there. I'm still clinging hope from his round 6 game against Brisbane when he was outstanding with 4 goals. -
2008 Player Review - #4 Ben Holland
Bring-Back-Powell replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
I stated this earlier in the year, but I got flamed for it just because he's a little bit older than 25. Had a solid end to 2007, and still had good football left in him. And he made less mistakes than Ward! I wonder if he retired voluntarily, or he was made to retire? -
Yes they will look at players from other clubs but I wouldn't be surprised it they do nothing about it. The club is dead keen on keeping all their draft picks, and I wouldn't be surprised if they use their pick 1 in the PSD on an 18 year old that was not good enough to be selected in the national draft. No quick fixes at the MFC any more - fortunetly or unfortunetly depending on your point of view.. How I'd love to finally have a genuine A grader at the MFC like a Kerr or Cousins or Didak.
-
I want Rich. I want to see him lining up at the G' in round 1 next year and doing a Rhys Palmer. I don't have the patience for a project player in Watts. A midfield of Rich, Jones, McLean with Bruce, Davey, Dunn, Junior and Moloney as our secondary options sounds great to me. Draft a key position player at 17 or 19. There will plenty available.
-
In the event that Warnock turns our offer down and chooses to stay at Freo OR gets traded to Carlton or Richmond, will we chase any other players with AFL experience? Would we use our prized PSD pick on the best available un-contracted player or draft a kid that was overlooked in the national draft. Your thoughts? Would you rather draft a 23 year old player with 70 games under his belt or take the punt on a raw 18 year old who got overlooked in the national draft?
-
I reckon West Coast will have another down year. They were putrid at times this year. If Freo can learn to win the close ones next year, then I can see them pushing for the finals.
-
I doubt we'll do that. Bailey and Stynes have continually stated that we won't be trading picks for players.

Didn't Stokes play for Hawthorn last night?
