  1. I wouldn't be upset seeing TJ still running around in the red and the blue. I can handle 16 sublime games and 6 average ones. 90% of our list could only dream of having TJ's skill and ability.
  2. So you're saying that picking up one of the best players in the competition and giving the MFC 4 or 5 solid years of service whilst improving our impotent forward line dramatically instead of recruiting the 85th best 18 year old would kill the club. WTF??
  3. Valenti should be kept on the rookie list but Aussie must be promoted. He showed enough between rounds 3 and 14 to suggest that he can cut it at this level. Aussie's formed tapered off later in the year due to fatigue and not having Davey in the side. Davey and Aussie could create a dangerous duo next year, with one bloke being the goal sneak and the other weaving his magic in the midfield - and then rotating. This worked a treat in the Freo, Brisbane and Hawthorn games earlier in the year. I don't like the idea of not being able to play the rookie-listed Aussie in round 1 next year, because we've recruited a player in the 60's that won't play next year. Better to rookie list that player instead. Bottom line is I believe Aussie (who is in our best 22) would be more valuable than a speculative 5th or 6th round draft selection who will not play next year.
  4. If Bartram's out of contract, I'd delist him ahead of all the above blokes.
  5. LOL That is the funniest posts on demonland ever.
  6. Great news! Glad we didn't trade Sylvia. He's got a rare commodity that 90% of our list doesn't have - a package of class and skill. I reckon our patience will be finally rewarded.
  7. Good sponsorship there for the Tiges. We must equal or better that though. Also North have extracted $1.8 mil from Mazda per year, so that's a ball park figure we should be aiming for.
  8. Yeah Macquarie is probably unrealistic, but I would think the club would be better off targetting major firms (as Richmond have done with AIG who also sponsor Man United) as low profile companies may not be able to afford to '[censored] away' money in todays harsh economic climate.
  9. No point in not asking though. I'm hoping the MFC is exploring every avenue possible and leaving no stone unturned in securing a lucrative sponsor.
  10. Winning 5-9 games next year would be absolute suicide for the club. We could potentially blow the opportunity of having pick 1 and 2 in next years draft. We can't have a repeat of 2007 we're we won 1 too many games. We're so far off the pace at the moment, and we must gain as much talent as we can before Gold Coast steal the draft picks. If there is one year to have a poor year, it's next year. Therefore I vote for a total re-build. The aquasition of Cousins or O'Keefe would probably net only 1 or 2 extra wins next year, but would be very handy in 2010.
  11. I totally agree. What's the alternative - picking up an 18 year old that wasn't good enough to be selected in the national draft and have a 90% chance of being nowhere near as good as O'Keefe.
  12. That would be Craig Cameron's legacy.
  13. I propose we approach Macquarie Bank about a $2 million sponsorship per year for 3 years. A highly performed New South Wales based bank that would want to further penetrate market share in Victoria. $2 million is nothing for these major corporations. I bet they spend that amount on 'long lunches' each week for executives.
  14. Make the finals and then come back and talk to us. You've been nothing since 2002.
  15. If Carroll remains at the club, I still think he should get a game if his from warrants, ala Yze this year. What's the point on spending $300,000 on the Scorpions.
  16. Just get some speed in the midfield. That's the priority! Also if McKernan turns out to be half as good as his brother was in his North days, then we could be onto something. The let-down of trade week will be offset by a great draft for the MFC. I reckon we'll be get a gem at pick 17!
  17. He'll be lining up at full back for the Dees in round 1 next year. You heard it hear first. The club's too broke to [censored] $270K down the drain and he'll have a good NAB Cup.
  18. CJ is out of contract. Could walk into the PSD on the way to WC or Freo.
  19. AFL trade week is a joke and a disgrace. 6 trades in 5 days. Every other sport in the world must laugh at our clubs ability to trade players.
  20. Hey guys how exciting is this: We're getting an 18 year old that will get overlooked in the national draft. Gee it was well worth finishing bottom
  21. And wouldn't it be in Warnock's best interest to start pre-season training with his 2009 club in October rather than waiting around until the start of December to see whether it's Carlton or Melbourne?
  22. Again, same principle applies. If we're desperate to get him, we'll get him because we have earlier picks. The Dees will just have to delist players like Bell and CJ to make room.
  23. Why can't we pick him up with pick 19 in the national draft on the proviso that we make plenty of room in the salary cap. Trade Bell, Chris Johnson and Carroll all for a half eaten ham sandwich for all I care. Or even delist one of Bell or CJ if necessary as they're both out of contract. (or maybe I'm just deperate to beat Carlton in a recruitment war )
  24. Mousey, I think you may be overrating him a little. At the moment I view him as just an ordinary player, who's tough at the pill, good at the clearances but has average to below average skills. Hope you're right though.
  25. Collingwood's second round draft pick and Shannon Cox (who played in the finals) for Brad Green sounds fair.
