Bring-Back-Powell replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in Melbourne Demons
So true. At the moment Davey's a laughing stock to all opposition fans. Hopefully he'll surprise. As for Mitch Clark, hard to see him returning by round 1 if he's still not running. In some ways I wish the club would just come out and rule him out for the first month, so not to get our hopes up. -
Liam Jarrah in more trouble

i'm slightly concerned you took my joke seriously. -

Impressive that he blew (2.7) more than his career goal per game average (2.3) -

This will sure help his chance of avoiding the clink!! -
Assuming Davey is fit again, it will be nice to have Davey, Blease and Byrnes as our small forward options this year.

What song should the Demons run out to?
Bring-Back-Powell replied to DeeZee's topic in Melbourne Demons
No bogan songs please (ACDC) How about Muse - Uprising -
No I can't prove it. But it's my opinion that we should settle this before it goes to court, and I think we'll end up doing this. I'm entitled to this opinion I would've thought?
-
Do you honestly think we've done nothing wrong? Do you think we did everything in our power to win our 5th game that year? It was so damn obvious that we were not, as we were all demanding it at the time. Would you rather this go to the courts to mid 2014, only to risk losing the case (because we're the MFC and we stink at everything)?
-
I have real trouble accepting the fact that legal fees and potential harsh penalties will put this club back into debt and back onto it's knees. A short settlement with a token penalty is the way to go. We are not 100% innocent in this.
-
This has settlement written all over it. Both parties will formulate a token penalty. The club simply can't afford a large penalty, and certainly can't afford both a penalty and legal costs, in the event of a loss.
-
Would months of legal fees end up outweighing the financial penalties imposed by the AFL on the club?

Can someone please confirm the contract status of Troy Davis? -
Pre-season update: Grimes to Tapscott
Bring-Back-Powell replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in Melbourne Demons
Does anyone actually have Tapscott in their best 22 this year? If so where's his best position? I still can't work our if he's a defender, mid or fwd. -
We beat Adelaide by 96 Pts, Freo by 89, drew to the reigning premiers, beat Richmond, and were 7-7-1 after round 17. What the hell did we achieve in 2012? Oh that's right, we got outclassed by Port Adelaide, PORT freaking Adelaide!! Based on 2012 results, Neeld makes Bailey look like Norm Smith. Again, I'm not suggesting Bailey was a great coach, but at least the bloke got us a few wins here and there in 2010/2011.

West Coast + Cale Morton = Premiership?
Bring-Back-Powell replied to Dee man's topic in Melbourne Demons
His famous brain fades will prevent him from finals footy. -
I don't Know, I just want this crap over. Lets cop a light punishment, and move onto rd 1 v port. I don't want to spend the next 6 months in court. I want the club to focus on beating Port, Essendon, West Coast and GWS on our beloved mcg.
-
I get it perfectly, Bailey was a [censored] coach, but ironically we had a 2010 season that made the MFC members jump out of their seats and enjoy their footy between rounds 3-19, 2010. You can't deny we were competitive in 2010.
-
I reckon we're stuffed. We clearly tanked in 2009, you and I know it. You and I were demanding winning less than 5 games. Lets cop our punishment and move onto Port Adelaide in rd1.

Pre-season update McDonald to Sellar
Bring-Back-Powell replied to CBDees's topic in Melbourne Demons
James Sellar will be the big surprise of 2013. Will hold down centre half back and will get into the All Australian squad. -
You can bag Bailey all you want, but we played a good brand of footy in 2010, and our biggest loss was only by 56 to hawks in rd 1. In rd 20 we were actually still in the hunt for finals, and only lost to Hawks by 4 goals in that game. Since then we haven't looked close to mixing it with the big boys. As for the Russian, he's pretty much the best tap ruck in the game, but too injury prone.
-
Magner to be elevated and play rd 1 at the expense of Trengove who surely will miss the first few weeks of the season. I reckon he'll be rewarded for a great summer.
-
Rivers will go half ok at Geelong so long as he gets assigned nothing more than the opposition's 4th or 5th best forward.

2013 - The Year of Neeld
Bring-Back-Powell replied to Sir Why You Little's topic in Melbourne Demons
I was being a little sarcastic. However my expectations of this mob are so low it's not funny. The whole organization lost me when we got outclassed by Port in Darwin. -
2013 - The Year of Neeld
Bring-Back-Powell replied to Sir Why You Little's topic in Melbourne Demons
As long as we almost break even in inside 50's and contested possessions, and beat the franchises, Neeld will be fine. -
I'm going for a smokey - Bennell Rather than be delisted, I Would've liked him demoted to the rookie list at the expense of Couch. He was heavily maligned around here. He offered class, speed, skill but just too inconsistent. The penny looked to be dropping just before he did his knee v Freo, which was a shame.
