  1. The only positive I can see is that last year we were pathetic in our pre season games last year, but actually improved in Rd 1 to play out a respectable draw V Sydney.
  2. It's a bit depressing that we're all expecting to lose to last year's basketcase.
  3. Reckon 6, 14 and 28 will also be available for Jack next year.
  4. Port's pre season form has been excellent this year, knocking off Freo and losing to WC by a goal. Port would start favourites in this game and I expect them win by a few goals. Talk of winning by 10 goals is nonsense.
  5. http://m.melbournefc.com.au/news.htm?action=handleNewsArticleById&id=130646&listRetrievedBy=TEAM&listId=31 Looks like Neeld has run out of patience. Green, Blease and Mac Donald back in Gysberts not in the side which is concerning.
  6. I found the weekends game to be a kick in the guts and reckoned there was a whiff of 186 in it. Neeld's mission from day 1 was to make us the hardest team to play against in the AFL. I along with many others bought into that. However all I saw on Saturday was a bunch of witches hats dressed in red and blue. Yes it's early days and we may eventually get there under the new coaching panel, but I'm now resigned to the fact we'll only win 4 or 5 games this year, and most of them at the G v's interstate sides.
  7. Wouldn't be surprised if he's sacked over this incident. Neeld, with his elite compliance mantra, won't accept this.
  8. As much I'd like a Casey game in week 4, I reckon they'll send us far away as we would've already played 2 weeks at Etihad.
  9. What a shame we lost to Gold Coast. Otherwise we'd be playing off for a GF,
  10. Was Powell really that bad a kick? My memory is fading with him, but I can recall him kicking ripping goals in the 2000 finals series.
  11. If we're going to do something this year, we must learn to beat the middle of the road Vic clubs like St.Kilda, Bulldogs and North Melbourne. I will hack losing to class sides like Carlton and Hawthorn but to lose to battlers like North without fail (since 06) every year shouldn't be tolerated anymore.
  12. Agree with Nicholson. You can't expect to play league Footy if every second disposal doesn't hit the target. He doesn't make my Rd 1 side which is a pity as we could use his pace. Same with Joel Mac. I cringed everytime he went near it. Too unreliable to be best 22.
  13. To suggest GWS won't win a game is silly. One day, they'll catch an injury riddled and out of form team and the stars will align for GWS.
  14. Good: Jones Magner Petterd Sylvia Couch Garland Bad: Bennell MacDonald Ugly: Watts- won't play round 1 unless form picks up
  15. Good news is that the pressure and tackling is 200% better this year. Even Davey did a crucial smother! Get the feeling we'll be involved in a lot of low scoring games- win or lose. Playing the wings has been very noticeable. Jack Watts has a 1%Er to his name. That's about it....
  16. On the other hand Bate been pinged 3 or 4 times for holding the ball.
  17. Huge crowd of 9287 in the house so far. Why isn't Blease playing? I thought a 1 week suspension is a 1 week suspension? Probably injured......
  18. On a serious note, I want to see Watts a rip a game of Footy apart, tomorrow night. I want him to kick 4 goals and take 3 influential contested marks. I want him to announce himself and silence the critics, after they came back last week. I won't be content with his usual output of 12 touches a game with minimal damage done on the score board. I Want more from out number 1 draft pick. Am I being too greedy!
  19. From a purely selfish Melbourne point of view, I hope he'll be out long enough to miss Rd 1 versus us.
  20. So LJ hurt his wrist in Rd 23 last year, and it's still not right! Talk about a shambles.
  21. I have us at 2-9 with wins over Brisbane and Richmond. Many posters here were still in nappies the last time we beat Bulldogs and St Kilda while Essendon will be a bloody tough game. The good news is that we'll come home with a leg in the air with games against GWSx 2 and Crows, Power and GC as very winnable. I think we'll go 7-15 next year but be more of a satisfying year than last.
  22. Anyone know the extent of Trengove's injury?
  23. I like our clash jumper and and am happy to see it 5 or 6 times a year.
  24. Not sure what the issue with Burgan was. Wasn't a great interviewer but wasn't poor either. Just got the job done and asked normal appropriate questions.
