  1. Can anyone confirm if the umpire who didn't pay the deliberate was Mollison (267 games), Deboy (117 games) or Gavine (79 games) Was expecting the umpire to be a rookie in his first or second year but all of these guys have umpired at least 1 final.
  2. Our best wins this year against Richmond and Geelong have come about when we've had T Mac, Fritta and a resting ruck as our talls. Perhaps drop Weid and don't replace him with a tall.
  3. You're dead right. I knew it was Ticketmaster, but for some reason typed Ticketek. Wish I could edit my post.
  4. I think therein lies the problem and that's what may have convinced the umpire to pay deliberate. The fact that he saw Doedee chasing after the ball as it trickled out of bounds. Usually when these deliberates are paid on the goal line there's no team mate from the same side chasing after the ball or a player being in the vicinity of the ball going out. Unfortunately Doedee was both and one could argue it was smart play by Doedee to be near where the ball trickled out. Unless the AFL deem that the Spargo deflection made the call correct, I'm trying to understand from the umpires perspective why he didn't play deliberate. If it was because he was too scared to make a call in front of the home crowd, then he simply won't be umpiring finals this year and will be doing a lot North Melbourne off broadway games for the rest of the year.
  5. Morris could be wrong with the rule, but he's trying to say that if the AFL can prove that if even if the ball hit Spargo's finger nail accidently, then it can't be deliberate because technically Spargo was the last player to touch the ball before it went out of bounds. The AFL will confirm their position today but I hope the decision is deemed correct. Would not make me feel one iota better if the AFL confirm it was the incorrect call. Also I know I'm clutching at straws here but Doodee was kind of in the vicinity of the area where the ball went out of bounds so the umpire may have given the Crows player the benefit of the doubt. Usually when these deliberate calls are made, there's no player in cooee of the ball going out. We should've been awarded the holding the ball call with a minute left, and quite frankly we should've won the game by 5 goals and hence not have to worry about these decisions.
  6. Tom Morris saying the decision was technically correct as it was deflected off Spargo. It can’t be paid deliberate if it’s deflected off an opponent. The umpire will dodge a bullet on a technicality, as he was technically correct.
  7. I want a please explain from Hunt, Fritsch, T Mac, Weid amongst others who were diabolical yesterday.
  8. He looks as happy as Larry on the bench. Would be surprised if his injury is anything serious.
  9. Hunt and Fritta will be discussed at selection. Both were disgraceful today. Fritsch 2/3 shockers which was what BBB produced before his omission.
  10. If the Dees treated the Crows with a bit of respect and not half arsed it for most of the night then the last couple of decisions wouldn’t have mattered.
  11. Really glad he wasn't traded. Not sure if we wanted to keep him or if it was more a case of no other club interested. As others have mentioned he's a key to our forward line and the Carlton game was an example of a players that knows his way around the big sticks. His set shot goal to steady the ship in the first quarter was outstanding.
  12. If we go 2-2 for the month of games after Adelaide, I sincerely hope one of those wins is against Bulldogs or Brisbane who I see as the benchmark this year.
  13. Yes. An audition for the big 2 games. Also a risky proposition as we need to get the 4 points this weekend.
  14. Ben Brown? Hitting .667 for poor games.
  15. I actually don't think it will be heavily booked. Crowds are really down at Marvel this year. Tickets at Marvel are on Ticketek. AFL members go on sale on Tuesday. Not sure about the general public.
  16. I’ll cop a loss this week if you promise me we’ll beat the Dogs next week.
  17. Must be a severe cork injury if he can’t get up off an 8 day break.
  18. Really good point. The only advantage of 1st over 2nd is you get the 8 day break into a GF if both sides qualify...which hasn't happened since 2014 (Sydney V Hawks)
  19. Hawks actually got a Friday night game...interesting. Assuming the Thursday night games will go for 3 or 4 weeks and then typically disappear again.
  20. I would say the fact that he's only kicked 1 goal for the season. Everyone takes more notice of the mids that kick goals. The mids that are being talked about this year are Petracca, Bont, Treloar and Mundy and one of the reasons for this is that they're kicking their 1 goal a game without fail.
  21. A drunk Sydney supporter also yelled this out after the siren went at the G on Saturday night. I don't get it. How can you be lucky to win a game of footy when you're leading for 85% of the game.
  22. I have a gut feel Jackson won't be with us long term but certainly will be in the short-medium term.
  23. Expecting a mid season drop off like we did in 2018 - (Pies, Port and Saints losses in June 2018). But the big difference is this year we’ve banked far more wins than we did in 2018 which puts us well in the frame for a top 4 finish. The club has shown far too much in the first few weeks to throw it all away like North did in 2016. There appears to be a massive emphasis and a premium placed on defence, unselfishness, and being mentally in the game for 4 quarters. Characteristics that describe the best sides and certainly not the MFC of the modern era.
  24. I reckon Fritsch got the number 1 defender in Rampe last week. Might go some way to explaining his poor performance.
  25. If no more cases drop then it should be ok.
