  1. Anyone here that still think Laurie is an AFL footballer is out of their minds. He had two goes at it then and coughs up a goal. Been unsighted most of the day and when sighted, made many errors
  2. It’s our second string outfit too. No Brayshaw, Oliver, Salem, Gawn off the whole quarter, petty, B. Brown, Hunter…it’s funny the argument only applies to our opposition
  3. The alarming part of that was the poor footskills and basic skill errors. Laurie, May, Neale Bullen and Tracca all noticeable poor in that department. Kozzie trying to play Hollywood football in February. the next concern is the lack of defensive pressure. We literally just leaked goals all over the place.
  4. An extremely worrying sight with 18 days until rd zero.
  5. The injuries tht we have are bloody concerning. We are less than 20 days out from the start of our season and we are missing way too many players. Whilst hopeful they get up in time, I’m expecting a horror start to 2024, which will only drive more questions from the media and a return of a lot of negativity amongst supporters. Just my take
  6. Is it true family day will be held at Casey this year?
  7. Groundbreaking info there. So were we this time last year. He quickly showed he was fairly one dimensional and several running attempts at goal that missed, where he burnt his teammates raised questions about his worth. He will probably be a good player for Sydney, but he was surplus to our needs and wasn’t prepared to adjust his game. Apparently refused to play on finals. A similar pattern had emerged at Collingwood
  8. On a slightly related note, and because I didn’t want to start an entirely new topic - it’s time that we gave NB the flick. They’ve been great over a sustained period, but if you look at the range they have produced this year, it is boring, dull and unimaginative. The off-field range is literally just a navy canvas with patches stuck on it and a red zipper where appropriate. If that’s where we are at with merch, then we really don’t understand branding. while I’m on it…we have stuck the MFC monogram on the jumper. There was a thought when the logo was redesigned tht the MFC monogram would be what the Yankees NY in respect of city wide identity. It may have been a pipe dream, but sticking it on the the jumper demonstrates we haven’t given up on the idea. However, take a look at the merchandise on the Demon shop. Barely another item using the solo monogram. Not a single baseball hat that is just a monogram. It shows we really don’t get it at all. The idea and thought is there, the execution is appalling
  9. This sounds absolutely cooked. McAdam is the most worrying of the recently injured, as i was hoping he’d cover for Kozzie in Rd 1. It is truly now or never for Josh Schache. He must be given an opportunity in Rd 1.
  10. Max is one serious injury away from leaving us with a massive gap. He won’t get 4 more years. People forget about the injuries he had in the early part of his career and the knee injury last year. Add the fact he gets clobbered every week with little protection from umpires…he is a warrior and one of the all time greats, but it’s unrealistic to think he will be a top line ruck for another 4 seasons
  11. There are plenty of 2022 and 2023 jumpers on sale at NB outlet in Collingwood. $40 bucks with additional 30% off. Also polos and track jackets, hoodies.
  12. https://www.foxsports.com.au/afl/teams/collingwood-magpies/hasnt-gone-down-well-hidden-issue-in-magpies-training-video-sparks-controversy/news-story/6d2558c331d399203a31258961769eb7?fbclid=IwAR0xFpc4YZ7GYgJTqpMGd1bfuVnKtfMD7GDid1GlaD5AltXWUsYW9K5ZcNo_aem_AVfKNo2ursbmqIShFp4Jr71P6SKOXnhoAPTpz31kSEbuQu05N1OQ98jbQUu85BFhzIU Good to see the Pies being called out for siphoning taxpayer money for women’s sport
  13. If we are unable to play practice matches there with spectators, I see the Caulfield idea as a bust. Whilst not opposed to keeping the Casey connection, I think we need to have a training facility that is open to the public, and capable of hosting some preseason games. Agree that AFLW should remain at Casey and play some home games at Princes Park. The venue ought to be able to host family days and the like
  14. What garbage sensationalist stuff from the Herald Sun…preseason from hell. Give us a break.
  15. A news grab on Ch 7 says that Clayton Oliver completed his own running session at Gosch’s. A two hour session with a friend. Sounds like good progress
  16. If we are going to go to Caulfield, I’d hope like hell that AFLW games were being played there. They are currently completely inaccessible for those who live in inner Melbourne. Casey is not convenient for anyone, save for those that live in the region, which is a tiny proportion of our members
  17. It was not discredited 100 years ago. You are quite right though, clearly Maynard did break the rules as a free kick was paid downfield
  18. I completely agree. That was my precise point. The AFL keep throwing civil law terms into their determinations. However, they completely avoid other principles, like the one outlined. Let’s start looking at causation. The ‘but for’ test perhaps? If this matter was treated as a civil wrong, like negligence, then Maynard wouldn’t have a leg to stand on
  19. Yeah, but whatever happened to ‘voluntary assumption of risk’ in contact sports. There were plenty of precedents that stated that contact sports players could not rely on common law principles such as ‘duty of care’ or ‘negligence’. Torts simply not applicable in sport. This has all stemmed from the NFL cases in the US.
  20. This is the narrative that annoys me the most. The ‘changing lanes’ argument. Somehow the guy who had disposed of the ball, not expecting contact, following through his regular kicking action was responsible for the contact. Let it sink it. Once it does, you will see how corrupt the AFL is.
