Bailey Laurie AFL statistics: Disposals: 2023 4,4,14,9,5 2024 8 the bloke has been a sub a lot, I get that, but no matter how you look at it, he is an underwhelming AFL prospect. He consistently plays well at VFL level, but cannot make the step-up to AFL standard. In the Sydney game, his poor disposals cost us dearly. You cannot get away with mistakes at AFL level that might be covered at VFL level. Turnovers are crucified at the top level. He had 5 possessions in the QF against Collingwood. We basically played a man short, pardon the pun, in that match. He can continue to build his form at VFL level. He is not required in the seniors at this stage. Great that he is laying tackles…but I am yet to see the same against AFL bodies. His tackle stats at AFL level: 2023 1,0,1,2,2 2024 1 I’m sorry, it’s a hard no from me. Much prefer the experience of Hunter, or to blood young Pup Brown

Pretty sure they’ve said he won’t miss any football, provided all goes to plan

Can you post a link to where that has been mentioned

It’s the dropping of marks that is a worry. He has very hard hands at the moment. Gets to the right spot but can’t clunk them. If we could get Petty’s marking with Roo’s kicking we’d have a decent forward
-
Transition defending is one thing, allowing a ball to waltz in from a kick in and be systematically chipped all the way to the oppo half forward is another. That’s not transition. We were setup.

I had a bad feeling all week about this match, knowing we had a lot of guys sore and banged up. what I cannot stomach Is Goodwin’s inability to change the tactics in-game again. We allowed far too much uncontested ball. Their ability to simply pick their way uncontested from their backline to ultimately hitting up a leading forward was really concerning.

Social media is vile. However, some of the stuff SEN ran on its talkback was just as bad. Andy Maher was loving it.

I presume it’s Kozzy who had been the target of online racial abuse as a result of this too. The media riled up the opposition supporters. See the statement on club website

TRAINING: Sunday 7th April, 2024
Kick_It_To_Pickett replied to kev martin's topic in Melbourne Demons
Seemed to be quite a light session. Wouldn’t rule out those not completing a full session. spoke to Maysie, he admitted his body was fairly sore. Incredible that he is playing through that much pain. a kid asked Oliver if he was playing this week. He was taken aback by it. As if he had no idea why he’d be asked the question. So, I assume we can lock him in. one whack for the Club though - there was a designated 10 + year members area. It wouldn’t have been in a worse spot. On a slope with little vantage at all. At the end, when plyers came to sign, Max didn’t even make his way over to that area. Given that it was described as an exclusive area for our loyalist members, it seemed that MFC staff had no coordination of what was going on. WCW, the snags were beautifully cooked.- 52 replies

Wait til you read Carros article in today’s Age. It seems us winning isn’t suiting the media’s death ride hopes for our season. Despite two magnificent road wins being celebrated, the media have focused on Kozzy and his light bump, Goodwin describing it as light, slandering Oliver further and how we are experiencing on and off field drama
-
Can someone here ring in SEN and take Andy Maher to town. This bloke is a constant basher of the Dees. The entire focus of today’s programming has been slamming Pickett and discussing umpiring issues that went against Adelaide. The media hate us and we have been bashed this year. Also, Goodwin being attacked again for saying it was a “light hit”, which is factual. The media just trying to take the gloss off our wins. I am sick of calling in to defend our club, and ultimately get cut short when the narrative doesn’t suit their agenda

The Melbourne - Norwood connection
Kick_It_To_Pickett replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in Melbourne Demons
Interesting to see that the Norwood to be the AFL 20th team debate is up and going again. How would be all feel if they were to come into the league using the monicker ‘Redlegs’, using ‘It’s a Grand Old Flag’ and wearing a jumper closely resembling ours? I cannot see us agreeing to it, but would the other clubs? What’s the deal with the voting of club presidents? Does it have to be unanimous? I think Collingwood would protest, as it’d open the debate around Port again: interested to hear what others feel. Also, any legal eagles that have IP experience, how does the MFC protect its brand if they were to be successful -
Dunno why we’d bother. It’s like playing a man short, pardon the pun. Laurie is not up to the standard required

The Shack attack nails one..cmon Casey!
-
Completely unaccountable when not in possession of the ball. Dogs easily going coast to coast
-
Can’t allow the Dogs just to pick their way through with kicks. Time to go away from zone defence and make them accountable
-
I don’t mean to labour the point, but Lobb’s accurate goal kicking at one end vs Jefferson’s inability to convert at the other is the difference between the sides at the moment. Given who Casey have unavailable, it’s a bloody good effort to still be within a few goals
-
I’m not overly pleased with it either. Clearly gets too close to the man on the mark. Has no set rhythm or routine. I mean, is Stafford doing anything with our forwards to improve them?
-
Jefferson could easily have kicked 5. His marking is elite

Sydney complaining about Essendon tactics off the ball...
Kick_It_To_Pickett replied to Ouch!'s topic in Melbourne Demons
Part and Sydney went hard at Nick Daicos last year..continually bumping him off the ball. They must have extremely short memories. -
This goal is coming as a result of Tholstrup double grabbing at a ball again..that’s what my earlier post was referring to. As a high draft pick, I think I had high expectations for this kid. So far, he looks off the pace..not sure what those who think he should be in the seniors are seeing.

Been excellent

Tell me you are stuck in the 80s without telling you are stuck in the 80s

It’s 23 scoring shots to 10. It’s been a domination. There has been barely any clean play from Casey. The ball use off half back and lack of midfield presence is alarming
