  1. The thing that annoys me with this trade is Adelaide managed to extract this pick from us for McAdam who has achieved 5% of what ANB has in his career. Think we need to get more ruthless in these negotiations, perhaps ANB is worth Pick 28 but I'll be stuffed in McAdam was.
  2. Sounds as though GC pick 13 will be heading to the Port via Pies as part of Noble & Houston deals. GC pick 6 looks to be heading to Tigers for Rioli. Unsure where else we can target a pick upgrade - all teams seem keen to head to the draft with a strong crop. Will be tricky to get back in at a reasonable spot IMO.
  3. Premiership experience, sustained success, Geelong IP, midfield expertise, leadership, integrity, how to play wet weather football. To name a few.
  4. Ok Giants, keep a non-best 22 player who doesn't want to be there against his will. We move on
  5. Agree - he clearly wasn't anywhere near the level of fitness required for obvious reasons. Similarly, our midfield was so badly depleted that even at half fitness he was a more viable ball winner than anybody playing in the twos. In hindsight he should have been put on ice as soon as his hand injury was preventing him from performing the fundamentals.
  6. From the outside looking in all I saw from Clayton this season was that of somebody who was doing all the team things. He was getting around all of his teammates on the park, revelling in celebrating milestones, re-signings, playing a key role in the Kozzy doco. If he is a nightmare to work with, it certainly didn't appear that way on game day or in the media content put out by the club. Even as recently in his podcast interview he spoke pretty well and seemed energised to attack this pre-season. Our skipper on radio this morning says he loves him as a player and even more as a person.
  7. If that is the absolute best deal we can extract, a pick which will in all likelihood be pick 15-18 (before academy, f/s etc) then I would be pulling up stumps now. Salary dump aside, it's a terrible outcome for our prospects over the next few years & strengthening a team we will be competing with for success while weakening ourselves. People might say "But we can use that cash to chase another big name" - to which I would reply who in their right mind would want to play for us at the moment? Unless we offer almost double what any other clubs are to a big fish, all the clubs with stability off the field will land most of the best talent via trade and FA. I think we are stuck with Clarry now, and must look to get him back to his best to save face. FWIW I love Clarry and think he has it in him to hit his stride again.
  8. Not spooked by big moments, and all the tools to be a top liner. Exciting
  9. That seems way too dumb to be true...oh wait
  10. Any word from this magical meeting that was supposed to happen to determine his future today?
  11. "Oliver, Stanley and Stewart discussed the prospect of a Geelong midfield in 2025 being made up of Bailey Smith – who is expected to join from the Western Bulldogs on a six-year deal – Max Holmes, Jack Bowes, Tanner Bruhn, Patrick Dangerfield and Oliver. Two sources close to Oliver said the 27-year-old left Geelong excited about the prospect of wearing the blue and white hoops in 2025, but that he accepted a trade may be complicated. More to come" Sickening. Not sure if I hate Geelong or the people running our club more at present.
  12. One thing that is abundantly evident is that there is a significant disconnect between the back office and the football department. The idea of Pert intervening here and telling Oliver directly to look around, despite reports most key figures in the football department wants him to stay is very concerning and unprofessional. It's all getting very tiresome with all the smoke and mirrors of the club these days & hard to believe a word that anybody says.
  13. This would be the most important signing of the off season if it happens.
  14. This will do little to appease the players that are fed up with going to Casey. The likes of Trac will be retired by the time this is even close to being built. Still positive news!
  15. For anybody interested in what Darren Shand might bring to the table with this review, I found the below very insightful. Feel like nothing but good can come from having somebody of his caliber cast his eyes over our operation.
  16. It was a question of which type with pick 5, clearly we need both but what to prioritize?
  17. Are we thinking we need inside ball winners to help with clearances or some outside class to help with our ball movement & inside 50 connection? The top 10 is stacked with both of these types so unsure what JT will have in mind.
  18. The unfortunate thing about this season is that everything that has happened has left us in the middle of nowhere between rebuilding and contending. The emotion of losing Petracca stems from the man himself being a beacon of our rise from basket case to powerhouse - to have that very beacon *seemingly turn his back on us, is heartbreaking. The contending side of our brain as supporters is desperate for him to pledge commitment and come back happy and healthy, and for his magnificence as a footballer spark another resurgence. The painful, less pleasant, but, perhaps logical course of action would be to cash in our biggest asset at the peak of his value and fully commit rebuilding this list while we still have legends of the club & premiership players to guide the new wave. It is crystal clear that this is a gigantic fork in the road for our club - irrespective of whether Trac stays or goes, he is undoubtedly going to be an agent of change for the back office and somebody that said enough is enough. Nobody takes joy in seeing the club suffer and get thrown to the wolves, but maybe it's what was needed to wake everybody up.
  19. I hope we are right into Davies-Uniacke even if it's a hail mary and he's unlikely to leave. Exactly what we need
  20. North are into him
  21. Ok so not enormous but not tiny. What are the early indications of his role @ VFL watchers
  22. Sparrow's output has gone backwards this season. Watching from the stands it doesn't appear as though he has a clearly defined role, which may be a contributing factor. Bowey is one I would like to see hit his stride again. At his best he provides us plenty of drive.
  23. Except we are now without Petracca for most likely 6-8 weeks. They were full strength
  24. On your last point, I agree about Rivers. We now need to get our best players & decision makers in and around the ball. Rivers, Bowey, Salem - all up in the coal face. We can plug holes down back, but if we ain't doing anything to get the ball moving forward with any purpose or frequency...we're stuffed.
