  1. I also reckon he's in trouble. It wasn't 2 or 3 seconds, he pinned his neck for an uncomfortable amount of time. Don't like it and I'm sure the tribunal won't either
  2. So where does this leave our fixture against GC? Are we now having a bye and playing the Eagles?
  3. We got pantsed by Freo and Sydney to essentially end our season
  4. This is not an ideal lead in to finals if true, the supporters definitely have PTSD from what happened in Darwin last season...
  5. Bump. Just want to make a positive post - It's easy to forget our Kozzie is only in his second season. I continue to be in awe of the talent we have at our disposal with this young man. He's electric with or without the ball, forward pressure is off the charts and tackles to hurt. Left or right foot on the run, it doesn't matter. The way he glides across the turf is brilliant to watch. Couldn't be happier with his development this season. Hats off to Kozzie!!
  6. We are all frustrated by the officiating last night and rightly so, it's pretty inconceivable what we all witnessed. I think you could ask a dogs fan and they will admit they got it good. As for the team, thought our effort was there for four quarters but there are some players that are really badly out of form. Langdon - was a driving force for us on that outer wing earlier this season. Can't find it at the moment and his kicking is pox. Salem has been paid far more attention from opposition and its showing, he had no space to operate in last night. That's two of our biggest meters gained players that are really struggling at the minute. Hibberd fumble fumble fumble. We need more drive off the half back line, not against seeing Bowey debut in the coming weeks. We still have it in us to go deep into September but we badly need some players to find form next week against GC, let's use that as a springboard and get going again.
  7. The wing is a bit of a concern, my take on Gus' role this season is that his strongest asset has been his ability to influence aerial contests, often putting himself in harms way. AVB has no fear and is also a good size. He can do it. I have a vague recollection of Gus being pretty clean by foot going forward when we were blowing teams away in 2018. He was damaging. We need that version of him at the moment
  8. I think it's time we started looking at giving Gus a run on the ball. I acknowledge his performance as a defensive winger has been admirable so far this season but our clearance game is broken at the moment. Feel like AVB or Harmes could be as effective in the defensive wing role.

    Correct.

Pressure is captured by champion data using a 6 tiered pressure rating applied to each opposition disposal: 0) No pressure - Most often after an opposition mark 1) No pressure but in open play, ie a fast break on the wing with no opposition within 15 meters 2a) Corralling pressure - guarding their immediate space but not coming at them 2b) Closing pressure - In their face and closing in on them but front on 2c) Chasing pressure - Influencing the disposal/decision to dispose of the ball through chasing pressure from behind 3) Physical pressure - bumping, tackling or pushing the player as the disposal is made. It is a significant red alert when our pressure is down, and comes down to a combination of fatigue and will. I'm sure Goodwin is bringing this up in team meetings and I expect a response on Thursday night.
  11. Tmac has only kicked one goal the past 3 weeks. He had been a reliable source of goals for the season up until Queens Birthday. How do we get him dangerous again? I love what he's bringing in terms of linking the defence to the forward line but if he's getting the ball up on the wing we're automatically a scoring option short when we go inside 50.

Haven't seen our midfield toweled up like that in a while. Hardly any clean chains of possessions especially at centre bounces, by the end Gawn was so over the ground ball murdering we copped that he gave up tapping it to the mids and was just belting it forward at every opportunity. Connection going forward still our achilles heel and today it reared its ugly head again, I'm pretty concerned about this patchy form heading into a pretty tough run home. What to do with Kozzie? He's running on fumes. Happy with Fritsch given the way the ball was coming in. Brown or Weideman need to come in to straighten us up at the very least in my opinion.
  13. Why would Jackson jump ship after 2 seasons? Gold Coast failed for years, Lynch and May stuck around. You make it seem as though it's inevitable that all of our top players will leave once the coach gets told to move on, based on what?
  14. Far out they throw us crumbs and we eat them up

Nobody wants his contract. Time to focus on getting him right, I'd like him to switch to defence and free lever up to be or our intercept player. He played his best footy for us as KPD in my opinion.

The only way we get a decent return for TMac is paying at least a quarter of his annual salary. Hindsight of course but the FD got way too excited about the 2018 season with both the length and $$$ offered prior to the 2019 season. 4 years at that cost is silly regardless of how well he played that one year. Same applies to the Goodwin contract.

Baker showed some stuff against GWS that had me thinking he was worth persisting with. I remember a time when Kamdyn McIntosh was ridiculed by Richmond fans and now he's a triple premiership player. Give him our confidence and a block of games to own the position and if after that he's still battling then I'm happy to look outside the club.

Clark is either staying at Geelong or heading to his home state of WA. Constable is a pure inside mid of which we already have too many. Narkle would be handy

He's not nimble enough for a wing. A high half forward link man perhaps, but not a wing.
  20. The combined value of these two would be an early second round pick at best I believe. Particularly if they shoulder the entirety of McDonald's horrible contract.

I think we will end up trading Tom for a 2nd or 3rd round draft pick, possibly even next year's. GWS have cash to splash with all the high profile trade requests they are copping over the past month; can't see there being an issue with them taking on Tom's salary if they get him on the cheap in a trade. Win win, frees up cap space for us and fills a positional need for them.

Any club looking at TMac will be looking to deploy him in his natural position of key defender. GWS need to replace Aiden Corr, if anything the Hogan news strengthens TMac to the Giants as they will likely be enthused by the prospect of surrounding him with a former team mate and familiar face.

I agree with that. Also would be nice to see our selectors punish poor form. To your point, we need contributing players on the park every single round. And, I know, how can you tell who is in form with no seconds comp? To have a vastly healthy list and Melksham not be dropped once is insanity in my book. Its one thing when you're bottom 10 isn't performing and it's another to keep picking them.
  24. RedFox replied to Skuit's post in a topic in Melbourne Demons
Using Richmond as an example, it's the likes of Martin, Cotchin, Edwards, Lynch and Short that make their bottom 10 look better than they actually are. Their prime movers set the tone and carry the team on their back. If you look at our supposed prime movers in Oliver and Brayshaw for example, how often do we see them stuck in 1st or 2nd gear on transition? I'm sure it's not as simplistic as any of that, and probably a combination of various factors, my point is that whilst 5 new guys in the best 22 may elevate us it won't change the attitude problem of our top echelon players. Looking forward to seeing this coaching re-shuffle.

It is an interesting theory, however it doesn't explain our top 10 players picking and choosing when to exert consistent effort, again, from quarter to quarter.
