  1. I went out of my way to ensure I said he would be useful in 'some capacity' to avoid your interpretation. Good for a laugh though
  2. Made consecutive prelims and had a career W/L over 50%. Given I'm of the opinion that our current list is far superior talent wise to those teams he coached, that's a solid effort.
  3. No arguments from me. Wouldn't mind targeting Brad Scott in some capacity, we talk about being ruthless... he's the man for that. Had that North team over achieving for a long period of time.
  4. That's a fair statement. From my perspective his skillset is not surplus to our needs, I've seen him play pretty well on the outside with his run and skills, I don't think ability to win your own ball and being a pure inside mid are mutually exclusive
  5. I agree but it's a pretty lame attitude to have towards your number one stakeholder, the supporters. Cochrane from Gold Coast brilliant in the regard
  6. Don't forget we were not linked to May until late in the piece as well, doesn't really mean much at this point. Money talks and if we offered enough he'd take it
  7. Apologies, I forgot about that game. Unfortunately the only memory I have against West Coast in 2018 is having our pants pulled down on national TV under the pressure of a preliminary final. Our game style gets shredded with an ounce of opposition pressure
  8. The alarming aspect for me was Pert highlighting 'great wins' this season against Hawthorn and Collingwood. Hawthorn are in full blown rebuild mode, and Collingwood had 3 or 4 of their top 6 players out. We've beaten no great teams in Goodwins entire reign as coach, Geelong EF 2018 were just average, Hawthorn the week after the same. Any time we play a premiership contender like Richmond, WCE or a full strength pies we get smashed.
  9. We are currently in phase two of the project to build a home base within the MCG precinct. He didn't go into specifics regarding exact locations or time frames for when this will be achieved. He gave the impression that this project was well down the track and was progressing quickly. Imagine the impact of the pandemic will slow this process down while we pick up the pieces of the hit to the soft cap and balance sheet. At least we know we are going for a location that is synonymous with this club rather than a Casey or somewhere away from the soul of the club, the MCG/MCC.
  10. Straight bat. As usual, no accountability regarding our on field performance this season. With the exception of the update regarding a home base, I feel worse after listening to that.
  11. I think it's partly because of how much better our midfield has operated when he's not been in there attacking the pill like a mad man. They just look more organised without that chaos. Agree that he's heart and soul, and we all love his aggressive intent, but it is hard to argue that he upsets the balance of our midfield. I don't think we can play Viney, Oliver and Trac in there at the same time. Brayshaw actually positions himself well better than the others at the stoppages so I don't like the idea of him going.
  12. He seems like a pretty well rounded midfielder rather than just see ball get ball on the inside. Gets just as many uncontested possessions as contested. Think he'd be handy if fit
  13. Unsure if his name has been mentioned but a pretty classy midfielder when up and running. Yes, durability concerns but would back burgess to get him going. Feel like we are at least one quality mid short in there for when Trac rests forward, for example. Thoughts? Queries? Concerns?
  14. Upgrade on Baker and ANB. Would offer a point of difference to our one paced midfield. Langdon on one wing and Narkle on the other. Tomlinson permanent defender. Yes from me
  15. He's their most complete midfielder in my opinion, even moreso than Cripps. Think the knock on his disposal is a bit exaggerated. The level of consistency he's been able to display at 19 has been pretty special.
  16. Got it. The dogs beating West Coast has almost cancelled that GWS result out unfortunately, doggies are in the box seat now with an easy run home. The only hope we have is if Freo produce an upset over them in the last round OR us win our last two comfortably, StKilda lose their last two comfortably and we catch them on %. Either way, I don't like our chances. I would almost prefer to miss and the blowtorch be stronger on Goodwin.
  17. Yes I understand this but Carlton beating Sydney has no bearing on our chances...looking at the ladder, no?
  18. Hi Old Dee, I can't work out how Carlton winning is favourable to Goodwin/MFC... elaborate?
  19. Preuss and Gawn in those conditions? Baker? Smith? Man. We carry way too many NQR players for a team that thinks they're in finals contention. How is it that Rivers in his first handful of games has more poise than our leaders? I'll tell you why it is because he hasn't been at this club long enough for it to zap any natural talent out of him. We look so directionless with the ball in our possession. Coach has completely lost the players. So gutted as a supporter
  20. Still filthy about this game. Everything to play for and the club as a collective unit pizt it down the drain. It's already been touched on but: Selection: Wagner, Smith, OMac, Jones, Melksham So many bizarre selection choices, Jones was so obviously hampered by that quad... even in the second quarter he didn't want to kick on his right leg. He cost us two goals trying to kick on his left. Forget the 300, he's costing us 4 points at he moment. Melksham has been gifted games all year and I'm sick to death of it. Get him out of the team. The first three are not AFL standard. We are just front running losers who cannot scrap wins against teams we have more talent then. Sydney's kids wanted it more. Simple as that. Get stuffed MFC.
  21. Geelong wouldn't do that for one of pick 15 or 17 let alone both. Preuss is worth a 3rd rounder at best. He's a big frame but a pretty poor ruckman in all honesty
  22. Seriously good player this kid. Plays with the poise of a 100 game player in his first season. Last night's game should completely shut the gate on the Harmes at half back experiment
  23. Not sure about the merit of that team rule comment. Have seen multiple players having pings from pretty far out, namely Trac, Hannan, Melksham to name a few. Agree regarding the opening up of the forward line comment - our forward structure is a mess. One obvious point I would make is that our lack of forward pressure is really killing us. Our mids are consistently put on the back foot when the opposition walk it out of the D50 like they've been allowed at stages this year (especially last night). When we were at our best in patches over the past 4 years, we've been able to lock the ball in our half of the ground with tackle pressure on the ball carrier exiting our 50. This gives the mids the best shot at scoring from inside 50 stoppages. I'm sure there are a multitude of factors, however it's kind of an E=MC x forward pressure situation. Without defensive pressure in our zone we are toast.
