  1. Well he did. He had car crash type injuries and he went back out there didn't he. So yea he was definitely more at risk than others at that point. That's just a fact.
  2. Bucket 4. Dude literally put his life on the line for the club 3 months ago. But what have you done for me lately eh.
  3. Gws for Hogan Port for Hinkley. Dude cops more shizen from his fam base than any other coach. They'll give him both barrels again otherwise.
  4. So basically, his average output over the last four years. Cameo player every day of the week.
  5. It's a fair question but imo we are miles off now unless midfield gets back fully fit. Which is a big if unfortunately. Even then, we have to play defence and contest football. It's pretty obvious we don't have the list to play fast quick ball movement over 24 rounds. We will get killed on turnover every second week which is exactly what's happened all year.. Our youngsters are ok but realistically half a dozen other teams have much better. Geelong and Sydney contend every year cause they have the two best coaches, recruit well, have 'advantages' and adaptable lists that tweak playing method game to game and year to year. We either go all in on contest and defense again or we complete rebuild before they gift Tasmania wins. The AFL is a bit of a joke for a sporting code really. 2 cents and a bit glass half empty I know :(
  6. I've been calling for him in the midfield for eons, but we've had a look and he's not fit enough right now and he def gets a bit lost with the handover stuff. I'm coming around to the idea he should be more a wanganeen milera role off high half back. Either way, its ok we got to see it in an essentially dead rubber. 'learnings'
  7. Hill, Schultz, Elliott, Hoskin Elliot and the future Hall of Famer McCreery. The Pies forward line is FAST. Good luck to our 30 somethings back there.
  8. Slight aside but the most exciting comment from last nights show was the tid bit that Oliver may be going overseas for a high performance training camp this off season. Clearly determined to get back to his best.
  9. Our lowest clanger count for the season (43). In fact our lowest in over two years. Will reserve judgement as the GC were totally cooked in that last quarter, but if we see that sort of efficiency and ball movement next week (and that's the way we want to play) there's going to be a bit of head scratching over the summer as to personnel.
  10. Option 2. If we go down option 1, we will be mid table or slightly worse for a number of years. We will get killed on turnover one out of every two weeks.
  11. MFC: Can we have pick 26 please AFC: no sorry. 42? MFC: (checks phone. No messages from PAFC). Um yea, guess so. Would give us 38 42 43 and 50. Could package those up to move higher. Gold coast have 5 picks in the top 34. Freo have 4 picks in the top 25.
  12. There's dozens of players in the AFL that fit that description. They still get a game now and then. If he'd be stinking up lower levels then fine, but he's dominating the WAFL. No player is perfect and he clearly knows how to find the ball. The knock on disposal is noted, if you applied that criteria to our side 15 guys wouldn't get a game.
  13. Will Brodie is a no brainer. 25 yr old who racked up 640 touches 2 years back and 11 Brownlow votes in a team that went 16-7. Crazy he hasn't even got a single game this year. Reeks of politics.
  14. I love Milkshake. He's given me so much joy and I'm in awe he came back from an ACL but he's Obi Wan Kenobi here Strike him down and he'll be more powerful than you can possibly imagine as a forward coach. Tmac gets another year. He is in the top half of defenders in the AFL. Not the bottom. We need to turn over a lot of our list, so splitting the pick makes a bit of sense. Bit grumpy we've lost our second and third for zero return. I hope port win the flag this year, maybe they'll be a bit more receptive to trading Houston for a late first round pick but I'm not sure it works like that :)
  15. I think he definitely can. 2018 we were ripping but we had Milkshake kicking inside 50 5 times a game. Attacking gus and Jordan Lewis through the midfield. Tmac and Hogan genuine forwards who could take more than 4 marks a game. The game plan should reflect and adapt to the players strengths. Not the other way around. That's why I think we're in a huge pickle. It took half a decade to cultivate this list. It's going to take a lot more than one or two draft picks or trading season to change the DNA of the way we play. I hope the FD now realise. I think I prefer to see us double down on defence and contest otherwise we will be mid table for a number of years.
  16. Ha. So true. Objectively, we are in a world of hurt. We either have to revert to the old scrap, kick down the line, set up behind the ball and hope we can squeeze another finals look. We 'look' our best playing this way. Or we need a major recycle of the list. There is very little chance we can play fast attacking football over an entire season with this list. There's not enough footy iq and kicking skills across the 22, unless we clone you know who 4 times. Pick a lane.
  17. It's really disappointing that we spent a second and a third rounder to bring in experienced players and they've played 3 games between them. It's a bad misstep of due diligence. I appreciate what Goodwin is trying to do in terms of continuity but he's putting a lot of faith in the concept of cohesion over the concept of aptitude. That's not to say Fullarton or McAdam are knocking down the door to be picked, but we are jumping up and down on the same spot right now. Be surprised if we win this week, but it's that sort of season. Why not.
  18. Good strategic coach. Becoming more evident by the week he has no idea about his players. Sparrow on Bont was ridiculous.
  19. Hola . Season over. Can we have our best decision maker and kick in the midfield instead of a back pocket. See you next week!
  20. ...and back to the footy. We've been right in games where ANB has tagged recently. He's shut down a number of quality opposition midfielders. He didn't tag thru the middle in the Freo game and that was a disaster (admittedly prior to the game, I didnt think Serong, Brayshaw were all that effective but sheer weight of numbers hurt). Last week, it was Green and Callaghan who just got off the chain. Eventually ANB went in there and shut it down at the end of the last. He simply must tag Treloar, the Doggies game falls apart when AT goes quiet. He's a smokey for a Brownlow place. As for Bont, keep him in the contest can't let him get outside. He's a nightmare up forward though. So good. Um, pray maybe.
  21. The season is not over. But this method and personnel isn't going to win us 4 games in September. We should be trying new things and looking to win with our best 22 and if you've been around footy clubs that's exactly what we will be doing.
  22. Reminded me of dal Santo and Pendlebury from his very first touch. I just hope he has the heart for the midfield. And I mean that literally. Midfield is a different beast with the 2 way running so it would be great if he has a glimpse of it in preparation for next year.
  23. Let's give the best kick and decision maker in the team half a game in the midfield every week so he gets a taste for 2025. Cya next week.
  24. One half of our starting midfield are panic merchant turnover kings, statistically speaking. The quicker number 4 gets a run in there the better.
  25. Yes. They lose inside 50s, they lose clearances. They win handballs, disposals and efficiency. This is the game to press with pressure at home and beat them at the coal face. Hogan has been awesome but May matches up very well historically when fit. Hogan is a great player to watch right now, sadly in opposition colours.
